1964 Trooping of The Colour. Brilliant to look back and appreciate The Queen riding side saddle which is very difficult. And did you notice that the guns they had were a lot bigger then with white straps. The guns they have now are black and a much small. I love tradition. The world has changed so much but TOTC stays the same. God Save The Queen I have always loved her.

That was the L1a1 Self Loading Rifle, replaced over a number of years from 1987 by the L85a1 SA80 (Small Arms for the 1980’s) onwards. I had the privilege of using both in my service to HM the Queen.
      Well spotted Sir!

@@DavidSternburgYt No because at 556 it weighs heavier than the SLR the canadians went with the demaco c 7 a better rifle and lighter the army could have purchased it and there finding out 762 is better than 556 so SLR could have been upgraded and the LMT 762 rifle has no muzzle climb on full auto but knowing mod theyll get a load of SHT as before for sa 80s replacement.

'She approves every detail of the ceremony herself' - Well, as every detail is precisely the same every year that is hardly arduous work.
