Lets not forget how easy is to get slime guys since 1.18. All you need to do is to find a swamp and kill a few slimes for 1-3 nights and you have enough for the flying machine. Its very useful to have a compact design for any Minecraft world. Thanks so much for the tutorial Kmond my friend!

im sure people have probably mentioned but either adding an observer system or simple item hopper clock would be a great way to automate it without railing server performance if youre on a server as leaving the flying machine running 24/7 if you want to afk it is not ideal. will definitely use every other part of this though man great tutorial!
Thanks a lot ♥ I built a slightly bigger version as a fuel source for my auto smelter. I use a comparator chest to auto start it when the Bamboo backlog gets too low.

If you put a comparator next to a chest it emits a redstone signal. The signal strenght goes up the more items are in the chest. The signal strenght is 15 when the (double) chest is full.
I (probably lots of ppl) used this so that my farm is active whenever the signal strenght is lower than 15 and stops working when the signal is 15. (I can still turn it on manually ofc)

I make all my farms the kmond way but I have to say this one is a special kind of madness. I moved the observer on the hopper end to the side of the top piston so it watches the bamboo growing up to its level. This way the flying machine only flies every once in a while and the farm harvests in batches.
The carts run into each other so I had to convert the alternating rows into hoppers.
Thanks for the tip, I had mine running nonstop and it breaks every 20 minutes... I'm gonna try the alternating hopper lines and have the flying machine only trigger once every so often
for anyone who's wondering I traded sticks made from the bamboo to villagers, and this farm gives you about 85-90 emeralds per hour.
At that point, I'd just make an emerald farm or cure villagers for pumpkin trades at 1 emerald per pumpkin and make an automated pumpkin harvester. I get stacks upon stacks in minutes.

@@clashtitan1487 Exactly this. Bamboo is actually really usefull now. Emeralds, scaffolding, fuel and now we can make blocks of them that can be used to make chests. Massive storage system is so easy now.

i put a observer to automatically activate the farm when the bamboo gets 6 high its been a great improvement because i dont have to dedicate any time to this farm
I'd imagine just observers 6 blocks above the bamboo so that if any of them detect the bamboo getting to 6 blocks it activates the flying machine

or you can connect daylight sensor so it will mow the bamboo once a day
THIS FLYING MACHINE DOES NOT WORK ON BEDROCK.
There is a different method of making a flying machine that is specifically for bedrock players. Look up a tutorial for it.

btw this exact farm actually produces roughly 4250(+/-)10 bamboo per hour. If you want 10k/h then you gotta build this three times.

For some reason the flying machine didn't fly in my case (1.20.1 Java), but placing the observers facing the slime columns fixed it

You can replace the hopper minecarts and dirt with hoppers and mud. Mud on top of a hopper is just enough of a gap that anything will get sucked into the hopper... and bamboo grows on it just fine
Thats more expensive in terms of iron though

As of 1.20, you can eliminate the hopper cart by using mud blocks and hoppers, which bamboo grows on.
the hopper minecart that's next to the lever broke, it never stops now compared to the rest of them
This farm stood out very well to me because I have always used a non-farm method. I used to just grow them in an area and then cut them down myself.
By the way, where did you get the idea for the farm?

OK, first, this is awesome, thanks for the design and tutorial. Second, is it possible to link the flying machine to an observer that only kicks off if the observer "sees" the bamboo at 8 or 9 blocks high? Third, have you tried a similarly designed farm for sugar cane?
it's totally possible! the reason why I didn't add the observer that detects the bamboo is because if you aren't loading the chunks the flying machine can break.

I just quintupled the farm materials and built five of them for 50,000 bamboo per hour so I could finally have wood since that’s a thing after the update
Repeater between the minecraft row (used to turn off the minecarts) get power from comparator block... stops all minecarts.
3:49 the hopper over the barrel doesnt work and the signal doesnt turn off. Everything works fine until there is a signal
Works in Java 1.20. Sometimes my minecarts get stuck in their start locations, but maybe it is because I didn't use enough powered rails...
it's not necessarily because of that. sometimes minecarts bug out unless you have them go directly back and forth. The turn at the end is where the minecarts tend to get stuck cause they bug out and it accidentally stops one. if the minecart stops towards the middle and not at the very end where the turns are its much more likely not enough powered rails.
@@desolatequill My problem was that I had two powered rails at the end where the carts are supposed to offload so they were getting stopped too early and never offloaded.

Are the walls necessary at all or purely aesthetic? You mentioned they take a lot of glass but could you make them out of stone with a glass roof?
the walls serve to keep the bamboo inside of the farm, a to increase efficiency and b to reduce entity lag
please answer me my minecart with hopper won't start again after they unload the bamboo and they stock and don't move at all even though the powered rail is on
what is the most efficent way to harvest the bamboo? afk it wall the flying machine is constantly going or wait or the bamboo to grow tall and then activate?
Having the flying machine run constantly is slightly more efficient method. If you’re dealing with lag, waiting for the bamboo to grow tall until harvesting won’t affect the rates too much. I’d suggest using an Etho hopper clock set to roughly two minutes
I´ve rebuilt the flying machine three times now and each time it didn´t work
so you don't actually need the glass, thats just for aesthetics

You could build the flying machine smaller right? So not 12 blocks large but 6 for example

took all day getting mats and building till the point i realized it doesn’t work on bedrock
in 1.20.12 i can't get the fly machine to work, the piston just stand and go in and out so the machine just move 1 block

The rails dint want to work so I just did hoppers between every other one

My machine is not going back... I dont know why... When i select 4 ticks on repeator, the flying machine distroy my oposite construct. When i selext one tick, rhe machine is stopped in the front but is not going back. I dont know what to do...

Can you use this as a two-in -one farm? Bamboo + sugarcane?
yes, just make sure you don't mess up the rail system by placing water for sugar cane. Use a half slab at the bottom of the water block to prevent water from destroying the rails. His example at the beginning is essentially the same farm but with the sugar cane.

works for me. just made it. make sure u put the comparators in the right direction. if u don't it Def won't work. I had to pause the video at certain parts since I didn't place like one thing in the right spot. Fixed the one mistake and it works well!

Im noticing the item collection isnt effective at all. The minecarts keep merging onto other tracks even after slowing them down and the minecart unloader doesnt work because the items transfer too fast for the comparators to detect.

I don't understand. I did the flyin machine as you said but when i start it the piston works but the machine doesn't start. It's like the observer doesn't see the piston mooving upward. Can you help guys plz

Probably replying too late but no, mine didn't work until I swapped my honey blocks with slime.

I think that's the max due to piston push limits but u can make it as long as u want

The flying machine doesn’t work, once the initial observer sees the piston move out of the way it just push that piston out once then stops

You can't unless you use a chunk loader, but it will lag out your game.
you need to turn it off before leaving or it'll stop in the middle. make sure it goes back to the start before you leave. same with turning off the rails.
