  • Light up the torches and lets pour some Sterling Silver into fresh sand castings! We'll go step by step through the process of casting with Delft Clay to create rings and fossil shell casts. It's not over until we embellish these new castings with Oregon Sunstones and Peridot. There are lots of learning opportunities throughout from failures to the fabulous pieces we complete in the end.

Lol my goal this year is to face polish some things. Maybe next year I’ll be ready for the challenge… 🤞🏼 super pumped that you displayed your jewelry on some druzy. @@OzoneFineArtVentures absolutely! I would love to be in the podcast. I also made the Flintstone Flyer (helicopter) a few weeks back. I posted a video. Have a great week my talented friend!! My new band also debuts this weekend, wish me luck. My wife and I got T boned on the highway Saturday. Arms and wrist are a bit sore but hopefully will be fine for this weekend. The KIA, not so much. Not sure when we will get back out rockhounding, but I have lots of projects at home to keep the channel going (I hope lol).

I wonder if you could make a cast of a fossil that you could them use over-n-over again to make more casts?
Just a thought I guess. Anyways, EXCELLENT video Karen!!!

Heya Gems! Yes, you can totally re-use an object, like the fossil shell, to make multiples. They will never be exactly alike because of the sand casting process, which in my opinion makes it even cooler. I broke the stone/fossil/shell for the second one, the one with the sunstone, so only two of those will ever exist. It's going to be super fun to explore all the different things to cast and recast! Thanks for watching and cheers!

    * In the shell slice, using a colored stone would make the stone "pop". ie: yellow Sun Stone or other stone you found.. I was sad to see so many tries end with sand blocking the pour. Pretty pieces for the Challenge.. (Color preference is just My opinion.)

Thank you, Leslye! I agree that a colored stone would look marvelous there. I grabbed what was fresh off the faceting machine, I'll have to generate some more colors as I go along. The best thing about those trial and error runs is that everything but the gas in the torch was reusable! It's great when you have fail-safes like that! Thanks again for watching, cheers!
