Hey Jimmy and Andrew! Thanks for making me part of your video. Below are a couple of things I have done since we last spoke.
I have since added a new suspension linkage that lets me air up without doing any funny business. I also added additional tail lights that tied into the main board of the unit and have functional blinkers and brake light.
As far as the suspension goes, I have added a volume reducer inside the shock to create more progressive feedback. This lets me run less air pressure and still not bottom out constantly. I have also removed the trolley handle from the wheel. There are no more creeks or clanks. I took the street tire off and installed a Kenda Knobby that was taken off of a Sherman Maxx.

Hey Roger, lots of great info. A couple of us are wondering about the shock being pumped to to such a high PSI, since on paper it seems to only support up to 300. Any input on that? Cheers!

    • @roghaj
      @roghaj Před 2 lety +1

@@JoachimVesely it officially supports 350psi. We aren’t using the full stroke of the shock. That means the maximum internal pressure isn’t hitting its max. I estimated 400psi is safe for a partial stroke.

I'd love to see a pre-launch vs. post-launch wheel comparison of the master when these hit the US in the next couple months. Many of the people with pre-orders (like myself) expect some additional polish because that is what has been promised from Begode. I think that EUC influencers are operating in an ecosystem of prototype and pre-mass-production wheels which creates experiences that are not necessarily representative of what future owners encounter.

Great video guys... I would like to see manufacturers recognise that Some people want a wheel they can buy and ride on arrival... and other riders (more experienced) will throw half of the junk off it and fit aftermarket things to make it how they want it. I would like to be able to buy an EUC 'kit' which is the wheel but with NO TIRE FITTED... just the wheel in place with the bolts in place finger tight.... NO FOOTPLATES at all... NO PADS at all... NO SHOCK at all... NO HEADLIGHT at all (but a 3.5mm port like a Sherman has to fit your own light) as examples. Then, they should price the 'kit' to match.
I have an MCM5, a Nikola plus and a Sherman... I have Chickway pedals on all... so 3 sets of stock pedals in a drawer, I have changed the tire on the MCM and Nikola, so two tires hanging on the wall ... I haven't used the stock pads on any of them, so I have drawers full of new unused cr@p pads... only the Sherman has a decent headlight etc.
I would like to see the choice for experienced riders to be able to order the 'bare bones machine' at say $800 less than the complete machine... then order the pedals they want (or have them already)... the shock they think best...the tire they want... their favorite pads etc etc and when the machine arrives, open it up, fit the tire of their choice then tighten everything to spec (with loctite) and so on.
Another good thing for the manufacturers, is that the buyer has had a hand in the construction of the machine, so in legal challenges, they are somewat protected from litigation because they sold a kit that needed completion... not a wheel in it's entirety. I come from a flying background where experimental aircraft have to be sold as kits, so the buyer has to do 51% of the 'putting together' of the machine for just this reason. Also, with EUCs, at least buyers wanting the kit, rather than a complete wheel... don't end up with more and more cr@p stock parts clogging up their house... eacch of the parts having cost in the initial purchase and will never be used.

Master owner here. I dont agree with this video because it portrays the master as a wheel that must be modified in order to ride it. In reality, the riders in this video are rare and not your average euc rider. These guys have probably modified every wheel they have owned in order to fit their extreme riding style. The only thing I have done to my master is swap out the side pads, swap the tire, and ride it for 500+ km. The master is the best wheel ive ever owned. I prefer the smooth plush suspension and would only modify it if I were only using the wheel for 6ft jumps and drops, instead I use it for flow trail riding and commuting to work.

I see so many people crash these things because they ignore the beeps and keep on pushing forward - Which seems odd as the entire point of the beeps is "hey, slow down" -- Do you think that the "EUCs = Death Traps" reputation comes from this specific behavior, or are they all around unstable or unsafe?? If purchased an EUC and just outright never rode through the beeps and always listened to the machine no matter what, is it then a "safe" way to travel?

    • @WillofNewZealand
      @WillofNewZealand Před 2 lety

Ive fallen less than my bicycle.
The cut out thing is a code choice riders make. Some wheels you can disable safety tilt back.
Some wheels almost dont cut out.
Z10 for example i can go fast then at 45kph it beeps. I sometimes go faster. It double beeps.
      I sometimes go faster.
Its beeping its head off and pedals go mushy and unstable.
      I sometimes go faster.
      Its beeeeeeping like crazy.
Its unstable and cant keep up.
Then the good code that can just be typed in by a person has a story with a better plot twist at the end than the other drama wheels.
The wheel tilts me back. I get slowed down a bit.
      I live.
Thats a better story than other coders write. How many riders ask for more tilt back options? Not enough in my opinion.
Usually we hear some new wheel cut out but no mention of wether the safety tiltback was off. Or than we should be wanting more tiltback options.
If wheel cant go faster then tilt me back.
See how it sounds like it makes sence. Rather than if you cant go faster then The end. Cut off. Crash.
Sherman has safety tiltback to 58kph. Or turn it off and cut out at 84kph maybe.
      Z10 had tiltback at 45 to 50kph.
Its worked every time for me so far.
Yes i know about the z10 58kph mod.
So not all wheels just cut out.
if just zipping about then tilt back when low power is common on wheels. Pays to study up a bit cause theres a culture of not speaking of tilt back much.
Strange but no wonder its still a thing if its not the feature to save you with more tilt back options.
I find its quite safe if im not being a fool. Low hanging front mud guard my first fall. Trying to jump up a big curb next fall.
Sank in very deep mud and splat fell down not even walking speed.
Else lots of fun. Wind in face.

My question is why is so little attention paid to the video I saw showing a high speed Master crash (shut down) on 60% battery. Yes, the beeps were there. However, at speed with my helmet on and paying attention to where I'm going, beeps are hard or impossible to hear. Any EUC that only beeps and can cut out at 60% battery should not even be sold. I saw a post today wondering why the U.S. is not on the inventive edge in EUC's? Easy one: no U.S. EUC company would make it past the first year without getting sued into oblivion.

Is this for real, this poorly designed wheel needs a shock you can’t pump up without disassembly, then to be pumped to a pressure exceeding the maximum rated pressure of the shock
And it still sounds like chucking a toolbox down a stair case
Then you need $500 worth of pads and bumpers etc

You shouldn't have to spend an additional $500 in mods to make a $3k + toy work. Not terribly impressed, Begode needs to step it up or someone else likely will.
