I loved seeing Drazen play as a kid in Jersey in the early part of the 90s. He shot the ball so effortlessly and he was heart and soul of those early 90s Nets. And that’s why I see a lot of Drazen in Steph. Tragedy happened in his prime and it’s hard to compare, but when I think of best shooter of all time, in my mind, it’s still Drazen, who is my favorite player of all time.

Precisely, it happened in October 1985, in Zagreb, Croatia, against Olimpija (Ljubljana, Slovenia), and the game ended at 158:77. Dražen scored 112; 67 (out of 77) in the first half. 🏀 (Part of the whole truth is also that Olimpija, due to administrative reasons, played with their young selection of 16-17-years-old players.)

His energy on the court was a force that opponents dreaded. His fans loved him and I was one of them. By chance I got to know him (we would dine in the same diner/restaurant in Hackensack, NJ, on several occasions) and he sat at our table with the tv which was always on, to his back because he didn't want to see footage of the war going on in Yugoslavia. I did attend the funeral mass in the Catholic Croatian Church in Manhattan and everyone there received a small pin with the number 3 on it. I still have mine and will treasure it forever. Drazen's mother said his favorite song was 'Ave Maria' and a woman somewhere high above us in the church sang it so beautifully there wasn't a dry eye anywhere. Looking at the film we just saw, I saw Willis Reed and coach Chuck Daly, both of them have passed on. This coming June will mark 30 years since Drazen's tragedy.

Well, I wouldn't agree that it's "not even close". Toni K. was such a magician in his own right, plus a far more versatile player than Petro who was basically a killa bazooka. If I had the power to have them BOTH on a team that's exactly what I would do. Plus Radja and Divac in the front court. The fifth slot could be filled by Djordjevic or Danilovic. And there's your World Champion team from 1990 Argentina! Easy!

Nije to toliko oskudan engleski koliko ga lošim naglaskom ukvari (cjelu sliku).
