  • Dražen Petrović, one of the greatest European basketball players of all time, and a pioneer for Europeans to the NBA, shines once again in this special mini-documentary filmed by TRT World’s Semra Hunter.
    At the height of his career, Dražen was tragically killed in 1993 at the age of 28 in a car crash. 24 years later, Semra met with Dražen’s mother in Zagreb for an interview. There, Mrs. Petrovic asked her to help find the friend who was also in the car during accident to ask the woman what her son’s final words were. Semra found the woman - a Turkish-German by the name of Hilal Edebal- and brought the two together for the very first time.

    As a Croatian-American basketball player myself I couldn't have been prouder of what he was accomplishing! He inspired so many of us here in Cleveland where there has been a Croatian community since the late 1800's. Sadly, tragically, he was gone too soon! RIP

      Yeah, it was such a crazy and somber day. Couldn't believe it, I had been hearing about him for years in Europe. We only got glimpses of him in international competitions. When we finally got him in Portland, I couldn't believe how Rick Adelman failed to use him! It was mind boggling!

    I'm from Madrid and I had to suffer him as an opponent most of the time until he became a Real Madrid player. From then on, everything changed from hating him to loving him and, of course, I was shocked and sad when he died. We had already suffered the death of Fernando Martín the same way. Without any doubt, Drazen is the best European player ever. I'll never forget him.

    As a kid growing in New York and where basketball is a practically a religion. Where I used to watch games during the summer at Ruckus Park,a basketball purist at heart. I would say,Drazen was a sensational player and certainly prolific. I still remember the breaking news on espn about his tragedy,I was numb and could not believe it,what a player! My man could ball.

He was also a great person as I can see from videos & his mom's talks. I am lucky to meet his mom in his museum 11 years ago and i feel like she made me love and respect him even more..because his mom brings me that energy what he had on cort. There will be no one like him in this game & general in life & croatian & world wide sport. I also feel lucky to actually have my birthday on same week that he has..only 3 days diffrence betwen us. God bless your soul Drazen! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! ❤️😭

    The reason Drazen died was of greed and money! The lady in pink knowns the whole story!!!! He was shot in the home she was staying at and pretty sure Drazen was the one paying that home! It started because Drazen protect the kids! The argument started in the kitchen and it ended with him being shot in the abdominal area crawling out that home, all the way to the sidewalk by the mailbox in-front of the house by the curve, with gun shoot wounds; while the car in red driving his way as he crawled up to the sidewalk! His last words was "it was your fault, to the one in the red car he said. As he laid on the sidewalk with gun shoot wounds". The crash was a cover up!

      What an unbelievable lie! Divac was never ever Dražen's best friend! In childhood, that was Neven Spahija, later bball coach, and in sport days, that was his national team buddy, Stojko Vranković! How could Divac be like father to Dražen, who was 4 years older than Divac, you idiot?! Divac was Mentor to Dražen?! So, your'e saying that 4 years younger center was Mentor to famous guard/shooter, who played (and starred already!) strong Yugoslav league at his 15, when Divac was 11?!?!?! Clarke Guest, you must be an idiot. Or a Serbian nazi, whit english nickname.

    • @maksimiro2541
      @maksimiro2541 Před 4 lety +5

      And about stabbing in the back: yes, that happened. Only, Vlade Divac (croatian name and first name (notice "ikavica" one of three main croatian regional slangs), but no, he's not croatian :D) stabbed Dražen in his back! At this one game, Dražen was thrown down on the floor and while he was down, Vlade Divac deliberately stepped on Dražen! Dražen himself has told that to his family and friends. Actually, to his BEST FRIEND Vranković. Not Divac. And that was the end of the story! Dražen was shocked and he didn't forgive that to Divac. "Once brothers" film is a lie. So, Serbian nazi, "Clarke Guest", go to hell with your deliberate evil doing. Funny you should mention karma. Look what is going to happened to you ;)
