It’s time for another street food tour! This time, we have the help of a Vietnamese local living in Hoi An. Suppose you’ve seen our previous street food challenge in Vietnam. In that case, you’ll know that we went to a bustling night market in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and were overwhelmed by the options… and therefore ended up having some less-than-Vietnamese options.
This time, we’ve removed the $5 budget to try a wide variety of local Vietnamese street foods. We have a long list of types of foods & drinks that we want to try, many of which we would never know what they were without the help of a local! We try a variety of drinks, sweet treats, snacks, vegetarian foods, meat dishes, and desserts. Come along as we spend a lovely warm evening in the Old Town of Hoi An, eating our way through the Night Market!
Special Thanks to Julie, who kindly came along and helped us explore the fantastic Vietnamese food scene!

It’s so amazing 🤗😍
4:44 She translated a bit incorrectly. The dumplings are made with tapioca flour (not sticky rice) and the fillings are with shrimps and mung beans. I love those dumplings too, especially the vegie (or mung bean) ones.
Ahh, thank you! They were delicious hehe
Those are my favorite Vietnamese snacks!
@@idesdemars68 yes, they can be eaten as snacks or as a meal, however we like. I make them at home too from time to time.
In the US, they make it mostly with bbq pork and very little shrimp since meat is cheaper than seafood. I haven’t found any with mung beans here which I miss a lot!
She from Ha noi she doesn't known much about Hoi an if you watched she also ask the lady about the item what is called
One of my absolute favourite videos from Vietnam! Love Hoi An as a city and it is such a super idea to do a street food tour with a local. Everything sounded super yummy!!

Wow thank you! Haha ye that was such a surprise when we arrive in Hanoi :)
At 4:57 It actually made from Tapioca starch, which is the same ingredient with the boba in milk tea, even the making process is quite similar, except steaming instead of boiling like in boba

10:26 Mót Hội An is the name of the shop but because people love their signature herbal drink so much that they call that drink "nước Mót" as well. It contains lime, ginger, lemongrass, dried lotus flower, green tea, honey and other herbs.
Oh wow okay! It was sooooo tasty! We are going to have to recreate it when we go “home” 😂🤗
Really loving your content! About Mót at 10:26, I discovered the place when they just opened a few years back. The drink was so good, I came back several times all the way from Da Nang just for it. I even made acquaintance with the owner, and he told me that I can buy the drink in half-litter bottles for 30k VND each. That's like 2x value deal, and almost no one knows about this secret 😆
Oh wow no way!! 😍 we feel like we need to do the same, it was so delicious!
Good to know the secret😄 now it’s not a secret anymore
Dylan, love the Clwb Pel Droed Porthmadog shirt ⚽🏴. loved the vlog, food looks yummy 🤤😋❤️

Hehe thank you!! We just posted one from ha long bay 😍🤗

Thank you so much!!
New favourite word for Adrianna is “super” super this and super that along with lots of giggles
Hahaha you’re right! 😂😅😅
Thanks for this absolutely wonderful video. What a beautiful experience. It's really lovely when u don't set a fixed budget for a meal. D lanterns all around d place r so gorgeous. Very interesting streetfood in Hoi An old town.
D camera never lies (lense of a camera or video), this place is really, absolutely beautiful.
11:05, we have it here in Malaysia. It's popular among d Chinese, we call d silken curd, taufu fa, but we normally have it with either ginger infused syrup or palm sugar syrup.
It's such a nice place with plenty of food!
@@2Passports1Dream Lovely. 🙂
@@Yasin_Affandi yes that is correct. there is many variations of it in Vietnam besides the traditional one
Nice tour. Kumquat tea could be a national drink of Vietnam beside milk coffee :D, it's everywhere and people almost drink it everyday, i just had mine this morning tho.
It’s amazing!! We absolutely loved it! 😍😍
Good evening, the two of you. Very interesting place to visit 🤟🙏💖🍻

Hoi An is my fav city in VN. Best time to go is on a moonless night. The lantern lights are even more beautiful and they release the lanterns into the river to light it up which was beautiful.

Bánh Bột Lọc is made from tapioca starch, the green bean is mung bean, and the little brown on the top is fried shallots.
Oh I see! Super delicious 😍😍
Love love your guys video! Should collab with Max Mcfarlen!
Thanks so much 🤗😍
Born and raised in Saigon, went on and settled in the US. My dream now is no longer about "making it" in the US, but rather to save up and retire in Hoi An comfortably. Such a beautiful town!
That’s such a great plan! Sounds absolutely lovely! We loved hoi an so much! 😍
Thanks for the great video on Hoi An, much appreciated.
I'm heading to Vietnam in two weeks time.
Do you mind sharing what lens when you record yourself holding the camera?
Seems to be like a 24mm f1.8 or something?

I had that gooey bean and tofu thing a few years ago in Hoi An too! I had no idea what it was either... very strange texture but I liked it! Currently planning my next SE Asia trip and I'm enjoying you guy's videos! Thanks for all the cool tips and ideas!
Definitely a fun texture but super yummy flavour hehe!! That’s so exiting - hope you have a wonderful trip when you go!! 🤗

So yummy 😍🤗
Hoi An look so lovely at night and that clam dish with cracker go well with a bottle of beer lol
Hehe oh yes a bottle of beer would have been nice 🍺
Yep been there 😀 great in there. We had to laugh when you said everything is sweeter in Hoi An we saw ‘sweet potato fries’ we love sweet potato- turned out it was chips with sugar on 😆
One thing I hoped wouldn’t happen there was it becoming too commercialised - the 2nd time we went there was a Mr Bean bar do hope that sort of thing isn’t taking hold.
PS could see in the background those annoying lit up spinner things they throw in the air.
Grrrrreat vid we can’t wait to go back
Cheers 🍺🍺
Wow no way!! That’s not the sweet potato fries I know 😂😅 definitely is a place for someone with a sweet tooth- we fit in perfectly! It didn’t feel to commercialised when we were there… but then again there weren’t THAT many foreign tourists so maybe that’s played a role!
I'm a local in Hoi An. I live at Thanh Ha Pottery Village. Hope to see you guys explore my village!
That’s lovely! We’ve moved on now to Hanoi! 🤗🤗
Video rất hay, Tôi nghĩ rằng các bạn đã có những trải nghiệm tuyệt vời ở đây, bạn hướng dẫn viên đã làm tốt nhiệm vụ của mình. Nice!
Thank you so much - she was so lovely & we really enjoyed it!!
Another great video! Did you take the drone footage at the beginning of the video? Or was it stock video? If you did take it, did you need permission? Cheers
Hello! Yes it’s our drone and you don’t need permission in Vietnam 😀
@@2Passports1Dream Nice! If I flew my drone in a crowded tourist area in Japan without permission, I'd be looking at a ¥500,000 (US$3,900) fine with possible jail time. Let's hope S.E. Asian countries remain loose with their rules.
All the food looked delicious! Where do you guys search to find local food guides? My biggest regret from my recent trip to Bangkok is that I wasn’t able to find a local guide to show me all the delicious foods there:/
You can use 'withlocals' or just on 'Fiverr'
Verry good
Awesome video again . Would love to know how Vietnamese food compares to Thai food . 😊
Quite different, thai food is really good but it's not for everyone. If u can eat thai food, u will love it. If u don't like thai taste, u can't eat anything. Vietnamese food is easy for everyone
It’s definitely quite different!! We really love Vietnamese food too, as well as Thai - it’s hard to compare because it’s like comparing Italian food to British cuisine - so dissimilar!
@@2Passports1Dream ...except British food is not known to be good. at. all. Whereas Italian, everyone loves. 😂
also in Thailand the food is very different from north to south. Compared to Isaan food (Som Tam) in Vietnam everything is much sweeter and actually not spicy.
@@diedudeheit Not true. The south (Saigon) eats sweeter food and uses way more herbs and greens. The central (Hue) eats spicier food that isn't as sweet as the south. The north (Hanoi) eats more savory food.

Vegie Bánh Bột Lọc, stuffed with Mungbean that many Vietnamese call Greenbean.

There are so many delicious vegan food/ vegan restaurant in Hoi An and Da Nang, you should try some of them in Da Nang (since I'm also vegan). I suggested few of them in Da Nang:
Chay Ngoc Chi (202 Hoang Dieu, Hai Chau, Da Nang)
Banh Mi Chay (560 Dien Bien Phu, Da Nang)
Phuoc Vegan (204/04 Hai Phong, Da Nang)

Bánh bột lọc, my favorite, is made from tapioca starch. Bột năng (tapioca starch) không phải là sticky rice flour, được làm từ củ mì hay là củ sắn của miền bắc.
So delicious! We really enjoyed all the things 😍🤗
