Abandoned Mall. Every Store inside is Abandoned.

- I have always looked at this abandoned mall every time I was in Bella Coola. Every time I saw it, it was still locked and in good condition. Unfortunately the flooring and foundation are giving way and the building is slowly beginning to fall. I knew this may be the last opportunity I get to explore before it collapses or is demolished. Let me tell you, this location did not disappoint. There was so much to see inside each part of the mall. Some rooms of the hotel still look almost like the guests had just checked out. The pub and diner still have tables and booths and the salon even has a tanning bed in it. Getting the chance to explore here was just a bonus on this trip and I am very thankful for that.

I worked there from 1987 to 1998, I still live in the valley.
Where is it
Hagensborg British Columbia. It’s not a Mall, it’s a hotel, bar, and restaurant, we don’t have any malls here.
May I ask what really happened? There's so many water damage but I don't know why. If it because of tornado or tsunami or soemting like that?
@@alihaydarcolak8534 After it was sold in the late 90’s early 2000’s it didn’t seem to do as well financially. I might have those dates wrong. In 2010 the flood finished it off.
@@jeanprins4332 I see. Also do you remember the cause of the flood? Was it thunders one or smth like that?
I used to live in the bay motor Hotel a long time ago!! You walked by my old room lol!
When I 1st moved down to Bella Coola I rented one of the rooms on a monthly basis until I found a place.
I can not believe how much it has deteriorated!!
When was “a long time ago”??? Circa?

@Mark Westervelt i think they got mexicans to unload the store and chinese to clean it as well as do the laundry..... phillipean women took care of the woman who fell down and also help with bathrooms scrubbing and odd jobs.. mexicans then arranged things again with an indian interpretrer so thing were in order and right reading. Gavin newsom wanted to buy it but was told to recall how he knew nothing about how businesses run and get out..As he was wearing a mask he was offed as a burglary suspect by homeless people....
@@OverlandAlberta to bad it berned 😭
@@koolkid1702 ya....noticed it burned down a while ago. I am going to have to come down and visit the valley again sometime soon.
It's nice to see it hasn't been totally ransacked.
It was a hotel and restaurant when I was in high school. It was fine when I graduated, but when I came home, it became a thift store than it closes down.
Its ashamed that the building is run down.
This is my home town, where I was born and raised. Lol. This is the old Bay Motor Hotel/Pub. Had great times in the pub and I loved their toonie Tuesdays in the restaurant. Burger n fries for $2. Been closed for many many years but others try use it for a thrift shop, hair salon, mini cafe but none went over too well.
this was not a mall.
Right lmaoo it look more like a motel…
he said it's a hotel that's kinda like a mall in the very beginning lol
Don Avan title literally says “abandoned mall”
@Don Avan Remove your tampon....
who cares. at least he took the time to explore & post for us. it's a great video.
I'm so glad you included the fact that this abandoned mall has abandoned stores inside. If you hadn't I would have fully expect this mall to be at 90% occupancy in the video and would have been outraged that it wasn't. Great work.
Hahaha. I love that this humour is sarcastic but not rude. My humour is similar. Thank you
This was the Bay Motor Hotel. When Bella Coola flooded unfortunately the building was already starting to need major repairs and the flood did it in. No value to the property to sell. So it sits abandoned and rotting.
What caused the flooding, and when?
Thank you for the info I didn't have to go through a whole bunch of comments to figure out why it was abandoned. and you my good friend got the best comment award today cuz I was able to find out what I needed to real fast LOL

It's amazing that it was open for business in 2009 or 2010. The last 10 years haven't been too kind to the old building.
I have bedrooms that haven’t been used for 10yrs or more. I just dust & if I need it I put clean sheets on. That’s it. I guess they had some really bad damage. I do have some water damage in my bathroom but I’ll get to fix it one day ( when I win the lottery, powerball or lottery tickets ) I have one in each. Someone has to win and I saw a lovely old lady win a good amount of money on one game. Lol
These are always very interesting for me. When I was in High School some friends and I would explore very old abandoned houses. Great fun.
Confirmed closed in 2011.
You need to get a skeleton, go back and put it in the tanning bed.
Seriously lol. When he went to open that thing I had a millisecond of internal panic, thinking there was going to be a mummified corpse in there or something.
Thanks for the tour! 😎
Great video. I really enjoy exploring and filming these places great find!
It's amazing that so much stuff was left behind. I guess it was covered by insurance so the owners/operators could just walk out.
This place shut down in 2010 due to heavy rain and flooding. Be thankful you filmed this when you did as it burned down a couple months later (nov 2020).
They could have least donate the clothes to needy people WHAT a waste.
Idk that they would have accepted it. "Here's some clothes we ransacked from a flooded 2nd hand store..."
FIXTREME I think they meant before the place become a flooded second floor. Surely when the clothes was put there it wasn’t all moldy yet. Why they left it all there like that beats me. It what they could of done before it got to this point not what they should do with everything damaged now. Though some of the clothes might still be salvageable after a wash. Never know. Just dangerous to collect. I’m sure people in need don’t care where it came from if it’s actually wearable and doesn’t smell disgusting after a wash
I am sure someone can still donate it,can't someone just go fetch it,and donate it?
@@rouaanjewaskiewitz8331 Here's a dirty little secret of clothing donation, charities get more clothes then they know what to do with. A lot of it ends up getting donated to Africa and completely destroying the local textile industry.

Had a coffee in the coffee shop back in 2009....
Never disappointed with your content!
Coool vid....thanks ..
Cheers from Toronto Ontario
Wow, for once it appears that most of the damage is through decay not vandalism, otherwise those tv 📺 sets and piles of crockery would be smashed, no graffiti, amazing, let’s hope nobody who sees this finds it and goes to destroy it. Thanks for the tour and the fashion store stop, incredible. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
For some reason when he gets to the word RUN on the floor, the game Left4Dead came to mind!
BC Ferries schedule and "Welcome to Port Hardy" booklets! On an island off Canada's BC coast, Port H ismuch at the mercy of rise-&-fall economic fortunes. Thank you for showing this once proud, now melancholy site.
Appreciate what ya do bro 🇨🇦🇨🇦👊👊
I used to go there. Nice coffee shop and pub. Too many floods in Hagensborg did it in. Last summer had lunch with the former (?) owner who was visiting Gibsons, B.C.
Need a drone to go where you are not safe to go. shoot even a go pro duck taped to a remote control car would have been good in there. Always trust your self preservation instincts.
The way you pronounced salon actually changed the word lol.
The way you said it is actually a type of room in a house in the old days. I'd completely forgotten the word had two meanings till you said it like that. Fun vid.
If this place was in the US, it would be full of graffiti and everything destroyed. Canadians are so nice.
Ah, why thank you. You’re so kind.🇨🇦
It woukd be a method lab
it catched on fire and berned few month after he did xploreatien
Thank you for the Great video Daddy
Love the videos!
Always enjoy your videos, perhaps get a portable light for shooting the dark areas so you dont have to switch to B&W night mode!
That really is rather amazing
Sad that this place went under. I like the rugged looking exterior. That kind of style looks good for a mall.
Shore it up with a new foundation!
The room with all the clothes was so crazy
Dude, you have to move much slower. It makes it hard to watch without getting a headache.
waaaaaaa
Or nauseous.
Agreed
Its only a hotel so i wouldnt feel bad taking stuff. If it was a house forget it. But this! Hell yeah.
glad u vidiod it bafore it berned down i loovvee watchn ur vidios
This place has been flooded a few times, rotten mouldy, floated off foundation
You move your camera around too fast and makes things blurry. Why do you call this a mall? It is a small resort.
It was not a resort. It was just a hotel and pub for many years. After the owner moved, some TRY put other small businesses in there but the damage was too far gone already.
1080p and likely 30fps... not the best for a clear video
꧁Cat G꧂ too damn bad miss question mark. Go do your own videos
It appears he slowed it down in some spots to show more detail. I think he does a fine job and I love it when he giggles, cracks me up!!
Agreed, on the camera movement. He should’ve filmed at 60fps or posted the video up at 60fps.
A follow up to the previous episode. Thank you host. What a shame that hotel, pub, clothing store, restaurant and coffee shop in Bella Coola had to end its businesses due to heavy rain destroying the complex. Sections of it could have been rebuilt for business to thrive in it again, but nature spoke otherwise to that mall.
The pipes froze and burst while a local was caring for the building after the doors shut and the owner moved away. It was for sale and then the province took it over. It had since burned to the ground and now we have beautiful scenery there.
So Cool
Wow , in reasonable good condition and NO Graffiti.
I have the same tanning bed..still works.
Weird that it was abandoned but still has stuff in it.
You should go back and get that chandelier before it all fall apart ;)
btw love your vids keep em coming plz
Just subbed!
Cool place. Glad to see it was not graffitied all out. Clothes should have been donated to people in need.
2010/2011: last year of usage... Doesn't surprise, but still always good to know. I think by now I've seen enough abandoned videos to where I can now guesstimate (within a forty year time span) around the last time a particular place had been vacant. For instance, in another ten years from now you can expect this same place to have more mold on the walls and ceilings, more broken glass windows, floors and staircases rotting away and on the verge of collapse... In another 20 years from now, you can expect entire ceilings and walls in certain areas to have fallen down completely, as well as extreme overgrown of the surrounding plants/vegetation making it's way in and around the building. It won't be pretty. But this is the natural effect of time and mother nature itself on abandoned places.
I'm so glad you didn't walk back there at 6:29. Wish you had a drone at that moment. To get to those unsafe places.
ladies and gentlemen, we've created a combination motor lodge and shopping mall! First of it's kind!
Spared no expense!
I can't believe the amount of stuff that they just walked away from. Like the TVs, and the office Copier/Fax/Printer would have been a very expensive piece of hardware.
Stewart Thompson big copiers like that depreciate to $0 in about 5 years.
I would be more concerned about those perfectly good dishes left at the salon counter. I'm surprised they weren't taken out when they were told to vacate.
lol Big copiers are just like cars unless you take care of them and treat them like they're your babies. (latter part of that sentence is related to old collectible autos)
I love old buildings
These pretzels are making me thirsty.
You're making me dizzy!! Your camera lens set to auto focus cannot keep up with quick panning.
Dustin Iwatch many exp. channels and had bigger guys go and check things out on a spongey floor @6:25. But In all A good explore, Dustin!!!
I Think you should have had gloves on while go through there touching things. You never know what germs & fungus has grown in there that could make you sick. Stay safe
Besides the natural decay this place is surprisingly intact, not much vandalism and the scrappers haven’t had it.
If this place was still Open in 2010/2011, it definitely looks like it would’ve been very dated.
It's in a super remote part of the country lol
Sure that’s not a version of the hotel California ? You can check in but you can never leave, guests clothing ?
At night the owners of the clothing come back from the other side...
I would have had to look through them clothes could have found something good 😂😂
I would have done the same Fluffy Cats.
Me too!!!!
So the hair salon charged $55 for cut and color, that is dirt cheap even for 2010 prices considering they used Goldwell color brand which happens to be the best and most high end product in the hair industry! Wow!
I wanted to see that menu you briefly picked up. Prices would have been interesting.
Seems like such a waste. 😞
Reminds me of a certain abandoned mall in Akron OH that has since been demolished...
Diane Adkins-Diorio Rolling Acres!
Oops, someone says it's in Bella Coola. Like Port H but smaller, also a sad and spellbinding site in the same island. Splendid history in this great area.
I recognize the hair color chart. My wife used to sell that brand.
I was ready to see a body in that tanning machine!
It looks spooky in there I keep waiting to hear something in the back ground
It's almost like people had to leave quickly. Keys in the door and clothes in rooms?
When you leave quickly, it's a sign of some demonic shit lol
Maybe a gas leak
It is a little disconcerting.
Also one room had “run” in letters on the floor, so I mean 😳
@@alonnaweaver4340 where??
Looks so 90s it's retro wonder if the insurance paid out?I'm suprised they have
Not demolished it
I worked forest fires in the valley in 2009. The next year they had floods, I believe. not sure if thats when the damage occurred.
I can’t believe some left their stroller!
well... he didn’t check alllll the rooms. 😳
There was a calendar hanging on the wall near the front desk. You scanned right past it.
Thats one of those places where it had to close due to building issues, now the place is going to be an eyesore because nobody wants to pay or has the cash to tear it down. Likely to be one of those places that just "caught fire" for some weird reason and went up in flames in like 3 mins.

Cat paw prints on the desk.
from what I could find this place is now completely destroyed by fire (Nov 2020)
I worked for May Co, in the 80s and 90s, before retail jobs became almost obsolete. I'm retired in Ct, after Filenes at the Danbury, CT Mall, went through the bankruptcy, May Co went out, and Federated Macys took over. People don't really shop at malls anymore.
@Sally Clay You worked in Filene's at Danbury Fair Mall? My ex girlfriend's mom worked at G. Fox and they wanted her to work there. (She worked at Hartford, Westfarms and Buckland). She retired from Buckland when it became Macy's.
Small world...
Camera moving too fast bro👊🏼
Soon to be a common sighting in Minneapolis
Incredible Stuff, Things That Make You Go Hmm^^
This hotel area is a heck of a lot older than is being said look at the T.V.'s , computers, tanning bed this place has not seen an up date since mid 80's or 90's i bet in it's hay day it is really something to behold. I still see some of the craftsmanship in the hotel's bedrooms. This place would be cool again if they gutted it and kept the shell and did something with it. I would have taken all those clothing and donated them to the Good Will or Salvation Army we have both in Statesboro Georgia and tons of Good Will's all over in south Georgia.
I love the thought process. First floor is shit and can’t even walk on it.......let’s go to the second floor. 😂
Is it bad that I would took some nice clothes
Nah I'd have done the same😂
Water damage from above likely from a burst geyser.
As all those clothes could've been donated to the homeless shelters
Karen I am sure that the clothing is no longer useable. After sitting that long it has mold and can not be salvaged.
2:08 it would make me really uneasy if when I came out again it was gone! It would make me feel like 2:25 lol.
Yes. All those jobs r obsolete now. I was in retail, with May Co, 26 yrs.
Closed down 2010 according to a comment on trip advisor
Place was torched and is gone now.
Run, haha!
I was wondering if anyone else caught that!
I would’ve taken the Hannah Montana bag
Bill Williams what kind of dumb fuckery is that? It’s gay to have a bag of 2000s nostalgia “bill”
I would definitely be grabbing clothes
Did a sinkhole open up underneath part of it?
if this was in aruba the first person who finds out there are things in there is he last one to harvest every single thing in there even the roof and doors
Barely 10 years ago and you couldn't even give those tv's away for free. If I were to loot anything out of there it would have to be a set of 4 or 5 door knobs that match those keys.
4:00 Weird how the salon menu says "prices without tax." I thought haircuts and personal services were non-taxable?
That hotel needed a full gut job in 2010
Why did you title it 'mall stores" merchandise still there.. so I seen was a broken down hotel
that why when u see places like this u take stuff so u can do what ever u want with it before it goes in a landfill
Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
Shame some of that nice wood furniture could not be salvaged.
