- This is an abandoned house I explored. I was able to talk to the neighbor and he was a huge help! He told me the history and even was able to tell me the houses past dating back to 1950 to present day. This house was owned by a husband and wife. They pasted away and left their house to their 4 kids (2 sons, 2 daughters). The 2 women died of poor health. 1 son died in a drunk driving wreck. The last one was a sent to prison for..........preying on his siblings kids.....Then the house was left to the 2 grand kids who, then stuff the house with junk and let it die!

I don't know anything about the area you are in but here in the Ozark Mountains many time the older folks just abandon the frame house and moved in a mobile home because it was easier than upgrading the old house with modern plumbing and heat so the old house here was probably just storage. The trailer would have come with all new furniture and appliances for it was a win - win deal fro grandma. May they both be resting in peace.

The trailer was vintage 1950's-early 1960's and common where I grew up in Louisiana. They are actually in big demand now, considered retro and chic, and there are speciality campgrounds and resorts where you can spend the night in one. I'm guessing that the house was built in the 1800's, before indoor plumbing and electricity (the wooden "toilet" when the house was first entered was a big clue.) Many families built an outhouse on the back porch to use in the winter. NOT sanitary but made life "better" during the bitter cold of winter. Especially in southern rural areas or rural mountains, electricity or indoor plumbing didn't happen until the late 1950's, and rather than redo the old home, families would purchase a new, modernized mobile home. They cost $600- $1200 and you could make monthly payments. It's still done today when the house is old and rotting, a family will buy a new mobile home, move it close to the old wooden home, and use the wooden home for storage. That's what seems to have happened here as the mobile home had more "life" objects (clothes, books, kitchen stuff, record albums, etc) and the old home had more junk (old furniture, boxes of bottles, etc..) Glass bottles were always saved for canning produce and food storage . I still do it! In the kitchen area of the trailer, that was an old sugar cookie mold in that tin can. You put cookie dough in the tube, and attached different shapes on the opposite end of the plunger, squeezed out the shaped cookie on a pan, baked, then decorated - they were mainly to make Christmas or holiday cookies and I haven't seen one in years. Foodies often collect them and search high and low for the specialty shape cookie molds. I loved the old mobile homes like that one - they used to come with those built in dressers and shelfs. Our next door neighbors had one and I always felt these older trailers had a style and character far superior to the trailers that came out after 1970. In fact, we had a 1960's model until Hurricane Camille. You're very brave and the film is excellent !

So sad to think even your own family could not respect their heritage even if it was not a financial claim. This held so many memories and stories to tell that no money value could be placed on it.
Looks like it hasn't been lived in since the 70's. What a mess. Watching this makes me want to clean up my house !

And get rid of all my clutter. Once you get old and or ill, clearing out and keeping on top of things can definitely get out one's ability to deal with it,tidy it up.

Montana has some great OLD mines and mining towns randomly in the woods. The old homes don't have much left in them...if anything at all. But they are still so cool to explore through.

the red plastic thing was the housing to a light wheel with a circle of multi colors for a silver or white aluminum Christmas tree.

Sweet. Regarding the album collection in this video, I had a crush on Glen Campbell when I was a kid and he had his own TV show. Nice to see his album - a real vinyl album, lol - in this video. As for that newspaper, it would have been fun to learn the year and headlines. Thanks for picking up the black and white photo of the farm, as I was dying to see it up close and got to. You need a partner when you visit these places to talk about what's being seen as you videotape. I happen to be pretty darn conversational and have an excellent eye for detail. Volunteering!!
I'm always afraid you're going to fall and impale yourself in one of these hoarder houses. That said, when I was a kid, my mom used to save all kinds of jars she would use to put up jam or fruits/veggies that we grew. The bottles were used to bottle root beer. She was raised during the great depression, so she never let anything go to waste. I remember being so happy the first time I got a birthday present that wasn't wrapped in the Sunday funnies. :)

Interesting vid. That metal tube thing at 5:56 to 5:58 was for frosting a cake. It would have various tops that could make roses, leaves or other decorations with the icing. We had one.

I love this! This is what you usually see n an abandoned house around our area. Not abandon mansion, millionaires homes etc. I hate when you can tell that they "plant" old stuff-that doesn't have a speck of dust lol. Love that you have the story to go with the house. Some others don't even bother to find out any history. Way to go regular Joe! Keep up the good work.
Hello, thanks for sharing this video. I would like to add to the previous comments about what can happen and what may have contributed to this sad home.
Several years ago we had a flood in our basement and anything on the floor, stored in bags or boxes, was ruined. I had hoped to go through the items and save what I could. But it was so hard for me to do all by myself. Then we had another flood. By then it was absolutely heartbreaking for me to do alone. The remediation people boxed up the good stuff and threw out the rest. Yet my basement still has dozens and dozens of boxes to be sorted through. I am terrified of yet another flood. It has made me so upset but there is nowhere to put the unpacked items and the emotional pressure is overwhelming since I have been struggling with my health throughout the entire time.
Every family has stuff. I have no more than the average person who has had kids and a full life married for close to 40 years. I suspect that the family from this home had issues with storage as well. It is emotionally draining to do sorting all alone for the kids and when they couldn't do it at the time of their parents' death, I suspect it was just left for someone else to do. Sadly this is how it goes.
This house is clearly a fire trap. The community could probably petition to have it burned down safely with the help of the local fire department. Otherwise it could be torched and without a fire crew on hand, it could threaten nearby homes.

A creepy looking house just by looking at the outside of it. And how interesting it would be to empty all the contents out in the yard and spend all day rummaging thru everything.

I still have that Halloween record. That takes me back to my childhood in the 70's. To bad that was not the Johnny Cash Folsom Prison Blue record. I have a couple hundred albums that my father left me.
I always wonder why old people are so determined to hoard those damn empty jars, bottles, plastic containers, magazines and other useless paper items. It ends up costing a fortune for us to dispose of later on. That must be why it ends up like this I would guess! OMG! I never thought I would get rid of the piles of newspapers and magazines my grandfather had!
PorygonFanatics Yes Exactly!! You saved everything you had. As nasty as it sounds news paper could be used for toilet paper or paper towels to soak things up. Canning was a way stock up on food.
judy Osborne you save everything you can. Money was tight back in those days. Plus they used newspaper and cardboard to line the walls with to keep the cold out at times.

Tammy Smith I know what you're saying Tammy, but the bottles and jars we see today are usually not that old. Smuckers Jam, Planters Peanut Jars, and similar with boxes such as disposable diapers. I think the "mindset" was more, "it may be valuable one day" with this generation. I mean tons of Enquire Newspapers tied with string, Newsweek , Time magazines, and I'm talking 60s and 70s. Nobody was insulating their houses with them at that time. Avon bottle was another big waste of space! OMG! Tons of them. Some Full and in boxes! Some empty! The perfume/cologne gets gunky and stinks sooo bad! LOL!

Oh wow, what a history in description box! I think I can understand why the grand kids aren't interested but to store stuff(leave) there - with creepy uncle in prison as u wrote, emotionally that wld be a difficult mixture of feelings to ever personally clear it out. So much stuff! The cylinder thing in the can in the trailer in the first part of the video looks like a cake decorating tube. You put the frosting in it. The potty chair thing in the old house actually looked like the seat in an outhouse. Many old houses had them attached to the back shed so you didn't have to go outdoors. Unfortunate that you were unable to look through more of the boxes. I bet there were some real interesting things there.

Loved the barrel and berry baskets! Saw an old ice cream freezer & an old lite bright. Shame it's in shambles. Lots of nice wood for reclaiming.

Hey man great find . That wedge shaped glass under the back end of the trailer is the rear window of the first year of a Plymouth Barracuda ! OMG ! They are Super Rare ! Check out the prices on the Net . It's worth more than all those bottles put together. Thanks and take care.

OMGoodness, that place is a 'treasure trove of collectables & antiques'... Too bad it wasn't kept up even for a vacation cabin.. Sad dark history connected to that place, though.

Look at all the tires! That trailer I'll bet was built in the 60's maybe? Looked similar to one I grew up in. Be careful in places like that, and you've been in some tore up ones! Wow! So much stuff! And the COST to pay for the labor to clean &dump all of that trash would be very expensive.
When there’s no more relatives left the city, county, or state (depends on where the property is located)...my guess is county, will sell it for back taxes & someone will get a nice chunk of land. The old couple next to my moms house (city) died. No will left but they did own the house & 8 lot parcel of land. It sat empty for 20 urs. A niece who no one even knew about blew into town & purchased it for back taxes and only paid $1300. The house, garage & huge ass green house sat on 6 parcels & the other 2 parcels had mulberry & cherry trees on it. She fixed it up and sold it for $150,000.
Those are some really great records. So sad that they are not being played.
Watched this vid and thought it was good exploring the backstory was so sad it's terrible that one day when I die my home may end up the same way but I don't have any children to leave my home and my things to so I really don't know what will happen to my property 😔😭

You can sell your property now with the stipulation that you are able to remain on the property until you die. This would benefit you do some things that you may not be able to do in your current situation and also relieves you of the worry of what will happen. One of my dreams is to start an old vintage mobile home park with nothing but trailers from the 40's 50's and 60's all refurbished and mint condition. and use that park as a museum piece for the public to see other alternative ways people decades ago used to live..

I was born in 1990 and had a wooden potty seat like that when I was little. It had a plastic bowl you emptied in the toilet. I potty was potty trained by 18 months but still remember that thing. Lol.

It is pretty easy to see why it has been abandon. I sure wouldn't want to face having to clean all of that stuff up. I don't believe they tossed anything out. Such a mess.
Think twice and test carefully before you trust any stairs (or even floor) in a sixty year old abandoned wooden house.

"Stills" would be an understatement. But I bet it would give him something interesting to do.
mtngoat58 maybe make him realize what he's lost. hopefully one day he will get out (I know neighbor said never) and bring it up to where it needs to be. I'd love to restore this old home..its really sad though to see so many abandoned homes knowing we have so many homeless that would be grateful for a fixer upper to live in.
Odds are he won't care.....I would love to see some of these houses restored, many have wonderful views in settings you just don't see innormal modern developments. However, it is unfortunate that in many cases, esp. this one it woud be less expensive to demolish,and start over.

That trailer looked like it could have asbestos, those floor tiles and fallen ceiling tiles. Not sure if you had on a mask?
When my mom passed away my sister and I were packing up all her stuff. My sister was packing her clothes. I happened to remember that mom used to hide cash in her pockets. I told my sister to check the pockets and we found over $7,000. ! That money would have ended up at Goodwill.
