- Hey whats up everyone in todays video my buddy Abel ordered his Hellcat lower airbox and air tube for his Charger. So we figured we'd do an install video for all you awesome humans out there showing you how to do the swap and whats involved. All parts seen in this video can be ordered down below via links from Steve White Motors. @hemifam do you know if this will work with a mopar air intake for a 2020 charger??
I made the same mistake when I put the hellcat intake on my scat pack with the 19’ grille. I purchased the 15’-18’ molded piece that goes over the snorkel but the 19’ is actually different and smoothed out better and the grille for better airflow.
Interesting I do see the difference in them I am not 100% certain what year he ordered.
Can you help me find a link for the intake you did.

Make sure you get the 2019 grill adapter part cause it's different from the pre 2019 Hellcats. Your buddy got the wrong one, he got per 2019 which has that corner blocking half of the intake on the grill.

My friend is trying to do that rn....but he may just settle and get a K&n cold air intake for his 2020 gt. And get a pedal commamder

So did anyone else notice they didn't transfer the mounting grommet from the old lower to the new one? It can be seen at 7:54 on the old lower, not on the new one at 8:06, and he just puts it in

According to Dodge the 2019 Hellcats gained 10 horses from the functional snorkel grills/nostrils so not sure what it would do to the 5.7.
With a tune he will show some hp increase

Yeh unless you put the hose in the nostril and rev engine I’m sure you’ll be just fine. 🤙🏼

I plan to get 130ish intake temps with this when its 117 out here cars get heatsoak bad here and timing chains clank bad here granted most people use cheap octane gas too

Nice job! I’ve seen another video that someone kept a lower end of the stock plastic bracket and added the new bracket that holds the tube. Is there any gain on that?
Thanks I appreciate the feedback. Any of the old stock parts should be completely removed and replaced with the new 2019 parts. In order to insure a clean install.
Would a hellcat lower airbox and cover(2016 to 2020) still fit a 2021 or 2020 charger 392 widebody?
I don’t see how anything will be gained… the bottom of the lower air box is open so air will flow the path with the least resistance meaning any extra air is going in the front and out the bottom of the box. It will not be forced into the intake tube, so no additional air is being added to the engine….
How would you say this might compare to an aftermarket drop-in cold air intake?
The OP said the mod works for all newer models except a Hellcat?
I have a 2016 Hellcat, so the air tube, front bracket, and Snorkle upgrade is an easy mod since we already have the lower box.🤓
the hellcat lower was not necessary, the parts where similar. the tube in the first comes out. according to my dodge parts guy.

Krys you don’t need it but the scat pack or Dayton or dodge emblem would be right over it making it less affective

Awesome video!!! My 2015 has the same lower intake box and I am wondering if I need to get the lower intake box? I know it's larger on the top side to get more air but my question is the following. If I get the nostril tube and the headlight bezel with the hole, will my stock lower airbox work if the hole is there like the one on your car? Are the holes in the same spot? Meaning if the tube will fit directly on the stock one? If you can get back to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Hemi I got a question because I know you know about these Dodge Charger. I put a K&N Cold Intake. And I took the air tube out and my car is getting a little i mean a little hot. I am ocd about these kinda stuff. Do you think it's because I took the tub that goes into the right hand side. I was thinking it wasn't because its not the coolant its the air filter.

I'm upgrading to the snorkel grille on my RT and I want to do the lower hellcat airbox while the front end is off. I'd like to do the intake tubing as well to make it fully functional. Looks like it would work just fine without the nostrils. Honestly looks like this intake is, if anything, more constricted by the nostril grille than the mesh lol.

Sadly that wasn’t a 2019+ intake tube or shroud. It was a 15-18 hellcat intake tube and shroud. 19+ have a notch cut out on the tube and different molding. Installs the same just a little different.

Hey bro quick question. I have a 392 charger with a JLT CAI and I’m trying to see how I can get more air through the grill. I don’t think they sell a tube for the JLT. If I remove the stock bracket, the peace you took off on 3:30 do you think I’ll be ok ?

I just ordered the AFE Momentum GT CAI and the 2019 grille for my 2021 Charger RT. All I need is the bracket and intake tube correct? Is there a link with the parts number for it?

Where did you get the front bracket from? I have a 2020 Scatpack. I may not even need that. I haven’t taken it apart yet so I have no idea.

imho this is big waste of money. I replaced my 80mm tb with a 90mm, my intake is a 102mm hose with a 9+ inch spectre cone filter. And I also have a spacer to reduce 90mm to 85mm and avoid that 5mm wall for better flow. My combo yields a nice boost and probably cost me half what all those chunks of plastic they install cost them, and I can assure you I got plenty nice extra oomph, combined with the modified exhaust I have.
If you want extra power, do a mid muffler delete and replace that tubing with at least 2.5 inch down. Your muffler shop can do this.

Ronald Domino someone did do this but ya have to cut the fuck out of the headlight housing to make it fit. I’m going to try but instead of cutting my headlight I’m going to use a heat gun to soften the snorkel and mold it to the back of the headlight so it’ll fit better. We shall see if it’ll work.

The 2019 grill and intake tube will need to have a SRT style front fascia for it to work together. You may be able to get the Hellcat lower air box though.

The Scats and Hellcats have the “nostrils” at both ends of the upper grill. The right nostril lets air into the tube that connects to the Hellcat airbox.The GT and RT dont, so in order to get proper air flow into the tube, youd want to get the Scat/Hellcat grill. You shouldnt need to replace the whole fascia...Just the upper grill that includes the nostrils.

I have a 2019 Dodge Charger scatpack but I’m thinking to paint of replacing the black upper front grill bezels (nostrils) but I don’t know if I can just pop them out myself or I would need a professional to remove the entire bumper can anyone help me with this.

Being that the bumper needs to be removed I’d say most likely yes if the dealer ever found out about it. 🤷🏻♂️
This mod does not provide any discernible horsepower increases. All it does is allow slightly cooler air to enter the box and mix with warmer air from the bottom of the box. Resulting in a few degrees of air temperature reduction...that does barely anything. A naturally aspirated engine is designed to always pull in the same amount of air depending on the engine's RPMs. This mod does not increase airflow volume or speed. Think about it. Cheap mod right....so why wouldn't Dodge include it on all sports cars? It is a competitive market so they would do it if really helped the NA engines. This setup does benefit forced induction engine builds(like the Hellcat) as the supercharger has the ability to take advantage of the extra air volume in the box.

I like this idea I've always thought about that and when I found this video I was like that's really freaking cool but then to think about it for a performance a performance aspect I don't see how that's gonna really be doing much because because yes air is coming in from that tube that you put in but it's very small in the middle restrictive restrictive I just don't know from Performance aspect if this is really worth it
