The greatest actor to ever grace the screen of an MCU movie and they managed to screw it up.
Nah, gotta give that to Anthony Hopkins. Bale can't touch him.
@@DP-ot6zf Despite Anthony Hopkins' status as an actor, he really didn't do much through his tenure as Odin. I'd argue Cate Blanchett had a great performance.
@@MadDash84 Which was not his fault. Give the same role to any other actor, and the performance would be worse. That's the fair and important way of assessing these things.
@@DP-ot6zf I actually enjoyed Love and Thunder for the most part, save for the whole child kidnapping side plot. That in its entirety didn't need to be part of the story IMO. They weaved that in as a blatant appeal towards a family audience, but I really don't think it fit Thor as a character to be so kid-friendly.

Honestly, Gorr would have worked well as a “Death-like” character (from Puss in Boots). Constantly hounding Thor and forcing him to face his own mortality.

There's more:
1) He enslaved young Thor along many other gods.
2) survived after the 3 Thors throw him into a star.
3) crucified Old King Thor.
4) killed a primordial God right after big bang creation.
5) elaborated a cage in which trapped two Mjolnirs.

7) survived a full power blast of present Thor enpowered thanks to absorbing godbomb.
8) destroyed completely future Asgard
9) infiltrated Omni Potence City, without being detected.
10) mentally broke present Thor for more than one year, making him unworthy.
11) gained the upper hand against All Father Thor and Old Loki combined!
12) tortured young Thor for days/weeks in a cave of Norway
13) OdinForce (or Thor force) didnt even cause a little damage.

C. Bale realy make it good, but potential of this charecter just infinite... They could make one of the greatest films in super hero cinematic history, but they just waste 99.999999999% of his potential to nothing... Thats why we "crying" here bro!
@@tsvetkovoleh2118 Yes I know, but the part he did to play with in the film turned into something watchable. Gorr never murdered kids. Only God's. And a few others, but 99% of his victims were gods. You also need to understand the complexity of Gorr, that would need Zack Synder to make a film detailing all of Gorr God Butchery and his son coming back to stop him ect. So the ending we got was the ending that was cinematicly possible for said MCU directors and budget
@@deaganachomarunacathasaigh4344 We only have complaints about the scriptwriters, directors and management of the MCU, because just reading the comics it becomes clear that Gorr was very "cut off" in this film, while the original was crazy cool and memorable. We cry for what could have been, and it would have been an arc as good as Infinity War, and probably even better. And instead of raising the degree of MCU antagonists, they are simply flushed down the toilet. So I repeat once again - no one has anything against Bale, we are just disappointed as the MCU destroys another potential coolest antagonist. There is a feeling that they are releasing a film just for the sake of releasing a film and raising money, nothing more ...

- Bale, GOOD
- MCU Gorr, NOT GOOD
- Comics Gorr, MENANCE
It's unfortunate that the writing for Gor didn't not live up to the comics Gor. However Christian Bale did a phenomenal job portraying the foundation of Gor the God Butcher. The beginning of this movie had a lot of great setup it was sad to see a subplot overtake the plot and throw away a good villain
I really read the god butcher before L&T and was so dissapointed with the movie. I liked how in the comic, there fight spans over like 1500 years on and off
Eh I didn't find it that great. His character was pretty much a joke to me. Basically set him up like "here's the villain and his weak motivation, and a 1 minute montage of gods I guess he killed" and then proceeded to give a nicely packaged Marvel product with him as the villain. Really could have thrown anyone in there.
After that initial set up you would think gorr was part of the main plot but it seemed like he was just a subplot and a set up to introduce the gods and subsequently hercules.
@@pauld.b7129 I felt like if they don't show his daughter dying and just shows him mercilessly killing gods in the beginning would be better. Marvel villains suck because they always tend to let you have sympathy towards them. Look at how James Gunn potrays the villain in GOTG3.

I think that Bale carried that film and that, considering how Gorr was in the comics and how they had to bring him into the MCU, that they did a fine enough job, though I think it could've been more interesting to make Thor 4 a more Gorr-centric story, though still have Thor as the protagonist and the guy you're supposed to root for. I think in having the audience sympathize with Gorr a tad more, yet be more repulsed by the atrocities he'd be willing to commit to achieve his end goals would be a more perfect balance for his character and would've cemented him solidly as one of the best MCU villains to date. As it happened, he was arguably the best among the mid tier villains. He has such potential, only to be shot down as his plot was weighed down by the rest of the other characters' plots, which should've been better sculpted since they chose not to focus on Gorr. It is still a somewhat watchable film, all things considered (MCU-wise, especially MCU-Phase-4-wise).
