    There are a few things I REALLY like about this camper and few that left me feeling a little disappointed. But that's the thing with RVs and travel trailers -- they all speak to us individually in a little different ways!
    The layout is fantastic and the totally carpetless/ventless flooring will surely be a hit. The king bed is something people seem to either feel like either "I love it!" or "You could leave that out and I'd be okay personally."
    The counter space is great.. but weirdly this kitchen suffers a bit from surprisingly underwhelming storage. I think they simply struggled with how to handle the cabinetry given their sweep-nose design.
    I also have just been informed from the factory they will be combining the two bathroom sewer dumps so the RV will only have a total of 2 (one for the kitchen, then one for the bathroom) rather than the three you see in this video which is a great decision in my book!

    Hey Josh! Hubster and I have been watchin' your vids for a couple weeks; we are comparing diff. models for upcoming purchase of first RV. You are soooo helpful. One thing we noticed on North Trail- is the lack of attention they give to finishing details- like several places where ends of things are not painted- bench ends, inside above bed cabinets, and the plywood at end of bed. That matters to us. If details are brushed off, then concern for other things come to mind. We are NOT fans of bench seating. Rather have chairs that can be added or omitted depending... Looks like we won't be going with a North Trail. Maybe a Rockwood or Open Road. Thanks again!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 2 lety

      I obviously don’t shy away from pointing that out when I see it. You’re not wrong saying that in this video.
      But If you watch a few of my newer north trail videos you’ll see they’ve really made an effort to improve in that area.
      I won’t claim they’re perfect certainly and like many brands they still have some work to do. But overall I think they’re improving. Here’s a new recent example

    Negatives: All the counter space around the sink, yet no pop up plugs for coffee pot or other cooking appliances. Lot of un-painted wood showing and what’s up with that propane pipe under the RV at the beginning of the video? Looks like they found it at the scrap yard.

    Love the layout. Does concern me when they decide not to paint the end grain of the boards that hold the table up in the bed position. Doesn't give us the warm and fuzzies. Makes you wonder what they did in the areas that we can't see. The black tank flush location, no matter where the bathroom is, is really silly.

    This unit is similar to the Forrest River Wildcat 276 FKX. I like your unit's kitchen table and window in front door! The Wildcat is 4 ft longer and has nicer kitchen with 2 overhead cabinets, a center shelf with 3 evenly spaced lights underneath. The pantry just inside the door is great! Wildcat has a huge 50" tv over a long mantel over an open storage area then a tootsie warmer fireplace! Theater seating with massage is awesome! Bathroom is larger with porcelain toilet and great storage. (Small shower though) Bedroom is bigger with good size closet, dresser, overhead storage over closet, dresser and bed. Large pass through storage runs under rear bedroom closet area. Great couples trailer for sure! Keep up the great work. Josh! You are so appreciated by many!

    I like the interior decor but I am just not a fan of the front kitchen model. There is such limited storage as you pointed out and no pantry unless you actually add shelves to the hanging closet space. The Swiss army knife sofa is fine but it would be nice if it had built-in cup holders since the table doesn't. I still prefer theater seats or something that reclined but that's just me. The TV is very nice and big. I am a queen bed fan but appreciate the fact that this has a standard residential size bed of any kind in it to make purchasing sheets and bedding easier and more affordable. I am perfectly fine without being supplied with a bedspread or comforter from the manufacturer. I would change it out for something of my own anyway and why pay for something I'm not going to use. It is nice they did the reversible cushions in the two different fabrics. I did notice the unfinished portion of the dinette bench as another commenter commented. It just does look a little tacky. Of course a small amount of touch up paint would take care of that but why when they built the dinette did they not just do it to start with.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 2 lety

      I'm not sure this one is easily converted into a queen since it's partially a laminated bed base. It's not just wood board you could trim. Rather it's a welded aluminum cage under the headboard of the bed.

    Honestly, if I were to buy this floorpan I would buy the Rockwood version. The Rockwood version seems to be better thought out and more refined.
    I am not a fan of the 'multiple sewer outlet club" either and I would pass on any RV that had that configuration. I would expect that sort of thing on a cheap entry level trailer. But I have seen even supposedly high end trailers using multiple sewer outlets. You have the enclosed underbelly............run the pipes and configure the sewage so it all comes out one outlet.

    I really liked the floor plan and colors in this unit. Where do I begin! It has a simple and clean look to it. Wow, look at all the counter space in kitchen as well as the window above the sink. The dinette is perfectly spaced in the kitchen to really define the areas. I'm not a fan of carpet in the slide but I'll give the designer credit cause it has more of an area rug look to it. The hidden drawer by T.V. is cool to hide things you might not want people to see. A few drawbacks are the waste disposal and no place by the bed to set anything on. Thought even an indentation in the wall would of been nice.

    Always love your presentations, Josh! Thank you for bringing them to us! Well, the obvious for me is the 3 tank dump deal; total show stopper on that alone. 2nd, the lack of outside storage containers for things like tables, chairs, grills, and such also would make me avoid this model. I had been wondering about this brand, as i have not seen it locally, though have seen a few at campgrounds....it is a right brand/ model for some, but I like Keystone Cougar, Grand Design, and Rockwood/Flagstone much more in terms of their products....but I will never fault the presentations you do regarding any and all of the brands and models of campers that your company represents! Thanks much once again! ~Lou

    I hate radius showers because I’m fluffy…so I’m biased. I also hate cable slides…but not because I’m fluffy. Honestly, heartland seems to wanna go big without putting in the effort. Just my opinion but it’s like their objective is to make cheap look pretty instead of making quality. And that’s fine, I’m sure there’s a market for that but I’m just not a fan.

    Tech tip #27: If you go to the walmart or your friendly local hardware store and buy a pack of that strip/thin foam insulation rolls and line the top of that bed storage area, directly under the bed board, it changes nothing of the function or construction but actually will dampen any noises created in closing rough wood on rough wood or any 'motion' on the top that may bounce the board against board.

    At first i was disappointed that you were stuck with the table as extra sleeping (odd for a 30' rv), but then you demonstrated the multi-use sofa (thanks for actually showing the different configurations, btw). I think with the properly sized 1-2" foam topper and sheets on top, it will be just fine for the "non-paying" guests!
    Based on the video, it seems like the "tri-fold" option is 6' or so from wall to other end. I do wonder though, can you fully access the bathroom given the full sofa extension? Or do you need to sort of shimmy in?

    5:18 I also really like the layout of this kitchen, especially the tons of countertop space. The lack of overhead cabinets aren’t an issue when you factor in the large pantry (if you add shelving; however I prefer it as a coat closet being right by the main entrance); they could (should) expand that 1 hanging cabinet to go all the way down to the counter, as there’s plenty of room & you wont be taking away much since there’s plenty still on the other side of the sink, to be a pantry IMO. Love the large farm sink + having the large window over the sink is great too (preferred than over the bed in a front bedroom model = 14:54 ).
    10:01 pantry space 🤷🏽‍♂️ as well as the under the dinette bench storage (don’t remember you showing if there’s a drawer behind those doors or just an open cavity; as drawers or food grade plastic tubs that fit & can slide out would work).

    We just got our trailer in July and so far are using the bedspread that came with it. Not very attractive not having one on the bed. Also not buying it as a great cost saving move with the consumer in mind. Just being cheap. For what people are paying for RV's currently they can afford to put one in there and at the volume they buy they would be cheap enough to throw it in for little to nothing.
