Glad i’m not the only one who thought about that. I Did the same setup with a CNOC 3L bag, a cheap plastic valve and a Kurgo dog shower head.
This is probably the best portable shower setup I have seen so far.
Space is of the essence.
Yesss, imagine a camry!!! Yes.
Good idea. I use the garden sprayer with kitchen sink spray handle that's easy to turn off and on at the spray handle. . Easy to use...I get wet, turn it off, lather up and then rinse off. But, I like to shower every day. I also use it to wash dishes, rinse off things, etc. I have a truck, so space isn't too tight.
Thanks Radnally. It's good that the garden sprayer with kitchen sink spray handle works well for you, but I never liked mine too much. Thanks for watching the video and commenting!
I love the idea but I do have long hair and that would never work. You were right with that in your cons list. I have a pretty good shower system set up for camping myself it works great. I use a shower head with a under water pump that I put in a bucket and it works fantastic. I use a 3 gallon collapsible bucket so that it stores flat and the pump doesn’t take up much room either. If I want a warm shower I take a solar bag and lay it in the sun for the morning and pour it into the bucket. It’s a pretty good system for me. One of these days if I get my CZcams channel set up I’ll put a video of it on there.
Sounds like a good setup! Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching and commenting.
Jacqueline Sounds great. Good luck setting up your channel
Hi Jacqueline. I'd love to have more info on your the under water pump. what do you use (brand, model), if you have it.
Thank you Tristan for another great informative video. You are very through in your descriptions and it is very much appreciated. Love your videos.
Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.
Great idea. Nice and simple. That you had experience with other designs means a lot too. Thanks!
Appreciate you sharing this idea.
Thanks for watching
Thank you again, Tristan! The ingenuity shown in your movies has inspired me with a minimalist project of a tiny motorhome.
Great, I'm happy to help ☺️ Thanks Márcio.
I like the way you put all of the information on the end printed out.
Thanks. I figured it would be a good way to just kind of sum it all up. Thanks for watching.
I think it's a good setup you have there thanks for showing us your setup, and helping us to understand how and why you put shower together in that fashion Tristan. "Happy Travels to you friend👍😎"
Thanks Dave!
Love it, especially the shower! TY for sharing your videos. Praying you and your wife are doing well. :) Safe travels!
This is an awesome idea! I really appreciate you sharing this. Especially for us backpackers. This is a luxury item I'll definitely be taking with me on my trips.
It would be a great backpacking shower, for sure. Very compact and pretty light. Thanks for watching!
I like this.
Yayyy!! Tristan Homeruns Again!! Thanks so much Again. Cheers & Happy Trails!
Thanks Giggling Gypsy! :)
I am really glad you did this video. I saw you had it and briefly described it in a previous video. I am not sure if that is exactly how I want to do it but I have both the pump up sprayer and the hang up one and I have the same gripes about them. Good ideas and if I come up with something cool I will be sure to share it, you have given me great ideas! Travel safe!
Yeah, it seems like the perfect camp shower doesn't exist. But I'm getting closer (for my tastes, anyway) with every revision. Thanks Galvain!
You're so creative and resourceful. Thanks.
Thanks Deanna!
Thank you! Super helpful!
Good system. Thanks. Where this would really work for me is to get sand off my feet. Most other body cleaning I'll do a sponge bath.
I've found that the Platypus bags are the best, very durable, see through (never get a black water bag. Light is your anti-algae anti-mold anti-bacteria friend. If you have stinky won't wash clean synthetic item, like my bathing suit: just hang it in sunlight, turning it around, and inside out. Four days in the sun will do what no washing machine can do). I also like the Sawyer filter system, but they come with black bags. So I created a two bag set-up where I have a Clean Platypus bag and a Dirty Platypus bag. I collect water in the 'Dirty' bag, filter it into the Clean bag. If as once happened, I have a really long no-water hike, I can carry 6 liters of water, some of it filtered, some of it I can filter as needed. I also carry Aquamira drops. Done right it don't taste and it don't smell. I bought the extra "Sawyer Products Fast-Fill Adapters" to make it all work. You do have to be careful not to get your bags and fittings mixed up. I also have the same 'privacy' enclosure as you. I think it's great. Usually when I go kayaking I don't fully change. That thing sets up and down so fast it's faster than the deftest beach towel magic. It's car camping only, but it folds so flat it doesn't take up any room.
Ball valves cost more than the other types. Years of plumbing I've long ago figured out that they're worth it. (I have them with adapters as my hose bibs) They've finally started making under-sink angle-stop ball valves. There are plastic ball valves that would be reliable enough for a (lighter weight) camp shower. On the trail for a clean I'll just use a t-shirt or my biff as a sponge bath inside my tent. Then I'll rinse it out, hang it on my backpack to dry.
What I started out to say but forgot.... is thank you! I'll add the shower head and a valve to my Platy/Sawyer system. (Trying to get my girlfriend to go car camping).
Great glasses! You're looking good. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Sarah! I wear contacts most of the time, but sometimes I'm just in the mood to wear the glasses.
Another great idea! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Ty Tristan. Nice info....
Thanks Chris Tina!
Very clever!
Thanks Sue!
As always, nifty idea and great info. Thanks so much. BTW, the 1/4” clear tubing can be purchased at Lowe’s/Home Depot for about 50 cents!! That’ll trim the cost quite a bit.
Good point! Thanks Cyn :)
Thanks compradre I enjoy your videos
Thanks Joe!
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks for watching!
Great tiny shower! I've done the bottle cap method on a regular 2 liter bottle, but yours is a much smaller foot print. Safe travels!
Thanks Alex. Yep, this would work just fine with any soda or water bottle, but as you said, the collapsible bottle just makes it so much easier to pack. Thanks for watching and commenting.
How did you make holes in the cap?
Cool. Even though I “camp” in a small class c RV, I don’t like to run the shower when I’m dry camping because it wastes so much water. I’ve already got some Platypus water bags, maybe I’ll try the simplified system you showed...
Yeah, definitely give it a shot. A cleaned out 2-liter soda bottle would also work well just for messing around. Thanks for watching.
I checked with Platypus and the 3L bottle fills through the top and has a large blue clamp to close the top. It also has a crease down the middle to keep it from taking the shape of a barrel. The bag you are displaying appears to be the 2 Liter soft bottle. So more water saving.
Nope. It's a 3-liter bottle. Go to 1:52 in the video. You can see it says 3.0L. Click the link in the description to the link to the bottle on Amazon. It's 3 liters. As I said, it's a product made to be a Camelbak-type of water reservoir and isn't sold without the hose it comes with. But I removed the hose. You can't buy it just as a bottle without the hose that comes with it.
Wonder if sandwiched between two boards and some bungee run correctly could give you more pressure, use smaller/less holes. Possibly less water overall with a stronger stream.
Yep, it sounds like that would work. But I don't think it's necessary. It works just fine the way it is. Thanks Hobo Hacker!
Awesome camping DIY!! Thanks so much for sharing.
What do you think is the lowest outside temperature to warm up the water to what you feel is comfortable enough to shower with?
I think the water needs to be at 109 F - Yeah the outside temp that would be what you could stand when your are totally wet. That could be a real challenge. Time for a heated privacy tent.
To be honest, I have no idea. I've used the shower when it was in the 60s outside. It'd be rough to do it much cooler than that.
You should do an actual shower demonstration video
That's cool I plan on giving that a try but with a slight twist I'm going to use a 4L Hydra-Pak with a Be-Free Filter
Go for it 👍
