      Many thanks for your comment Rodrigo. I'm an old technical illustrator who loves to draw.
      the drawings were first drawn with pencil and then scanned. I then used Aldus Sketch Book Pro. to do the final renderings. The app is free to download now. Anyway, it is an easy program to learn and I use it in my professional work.
      Have a great day and keep on drawing.

    How do you attach the swing arm’s hinge without puncturing the board?

    Most easels slide on the table with pressure. Do you know of any silicone type product that can be applied to keep that from happening? I have tried the little rubber feet, but they aren't made well and also slip.

      Place a damp kitchen towel (or towels depending on size) between your tabletop and easel and it should be solid as nails. You can use paper towel(s) as well. I cook a lot and have used this trick for years to stabilize my cutting board. Good luck!!

    I might try this when I have some spending money. What about a diy french easel? I've always wanted on but never had the money. I do not have my own wood working space though.

    • @RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist
      @RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist  Před 8 lety +1

      +Cecelia Ivy Price I would recommend getting one of those telescoping metal easels with a metal tray that hangs on two of the legs. They are very inexpensive, about 35 to 40 dollars. To make a french easel would be to difficult and not likely to provide any savings.

    Like the design but ply wood is heavy. Any other idea?

    • @holmesfamily9393

      Barbara Von Eitzen hardboard or what some call masonite. Similar to material clipboards are made out of. Home center carries sometimes in 2'x2' pieces. Might need to reinforce edges so it doesn't flex too much.

  • @brokentoothpickproductions7422

    I am in the process of making one today, my height of plywood is 14.5. Any suggestions on length of the adjustable top pole?

    • @RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist
      @RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist  Před 5 lety

      Well Mr. Toothpick, that depends.
      a 1/2 sheet of watercolor paper is 15x22'
      a 1/4 sheet of watercolor paper is 7- 1/2x11".
      If you are buying pads the sizes are; 9x12"_11x15"_12x18"
      So the largest sheet of paper you could put on your drawing board would be 12 high by 18 wide
      Given you have enough ply for the width.
      Many thanks for your comment and happy painting
      Robert

      @@RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist Thank you for the prompt reply but I am asking about what you think the length of the adjustable 1x2 support arm should be if both my plywood pieces are 14.5 inches high x 16 inches wide.

    • @RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist
      @RobertMurraytheFrugalArtist  Před 5 lety +1

      Given that you mount the swing support at the halfway point on
      the drwg bord piece it would be app. 6 1/2" long.
      The stops on the base ply can be placed as follows.
      6 3/4" from the folding edge will give you a tilt or 60 degrees.
      12 1/4" from the folding edge will give you a tilt or 45.
      13 3/4" from the folding edge will give you a tilt or 45.
      The above measurements are approximate. A lot depends
      on the size of your hinges and other unknown to me factors to me.
      This, however, should get you close.
      Have a great day.

      Hi Arthur, Many thanks for your comment.
      The first graphic in the video gives you all the supplies and quantities needed to make the easel. Just pause the video and make a materials list from the graphic.
      You can ignore the audio or turn it down. You could also print a screen shot for the graphic in the video.
      I hope this is a help.
      Have a great day.
