    While watching wheel of fortune I heard a contestant say aren't as one syllable. I immediately remembered this video. I am right or my sense of hearing is bad

    Hi, is it common to drop the T in "weren't we?" or would most people do a stop T? I'm not sure if "w" is considered a vowel in this case.

    • @SpeechModification
      @SpeechModification  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi, we typically use a stop T there, because the /w/ is a consonant.

    How about "range" and "wrench"?

      Hi, good suggestion, I can cover your words in a future video. In the meantime, the vowel sounds are /eɪ/ "ay" vs. /ɛ/ "eh" which you can learn more about in this video: czcams.com/video/e8_d82jSeqA/video.html, and the end sounds are /dʒ/ "j" vs. /tʃ/ "ch," which you can learn about in this video: czcams.com/video/kaTn42SGfhU/video.html
