    Really interesting take on using the center standing on it's side. Good EQ-ability and sealed means it can go pretty much anywhere to be within the 30-40 degree window for excellent horizontal off axis response. I love this channel for getting creative like this!

      @@ErinsAudioCornerHi Erin. I have a pair of B&W 805 in my music listening room and a couple pairs of 12" PA speakers from my gigging days. I am having a terrible time deciding on a pair of speakers for my digital piano/microphone setup in my living room. Being in the living room means they, don't only need to sound good, but also not look ridiculous. The T6 wouldn't look too bad on each side of the piano which is 31" high. Two horizontal speakers or studio monitors on top of the piano may also work and look OK. A third option would be two 8" high-quality PA speakers (QSC K8.2?), two studio active monitors or two 6" bookshelf speakers under the piano, angle up at 45 degrees. You seem very knowledgeable so I thought I'd ask for your input on this. I would also play pre-recorded music on whichever speakers I get for the piano/microphone. Thank you!

    I have the T6's in a two-channel music only setup. They are shockingly close to being a true full-range speaker. I have no need for a subwoofer in a 12x12 room - and I listen to a lot of bass-heavy music. It's hard to imagine a better two-channel system if you're a basshead.

    Good assessment as always. I seemed to be more impressed with them than you were, but at the price for the B6 Bookshelf that you showed, it comes out to $318 a pair. There's not a ton out there that can compare at that price point, even with no EQ. To me, it comes down to bass. My thinking was that someone starting off with a 2-channel system could get away with not using a sub (with realistic expectations) with the bookshelf speakers due to their extended bass. I can't say that for many speakers at this price. Even though your measurements show an F3 of 68hz, the F10 is 34hz for the bookshelf, and 53hz F3 and 30hz F10 for the floorstanders. In-room with boundary gain, that leads to some usable bass. That's a higher F3, but lower F10 than the Meta or McIntosh speakers. Lower than the THX bookshelves. For someone in an apartment, I think they would have a good time with that system.

    Erin, I know you're busy, but I'm hoping you can answer some questions about these speakers. I have a 7.1 home theater surround system. The AVR is an Onkyo TX-RZ620. It does offer the AccuEQ, but I don't have a separate equalizer. If it helps the room is approximately 16" x 16".
    1. These speakers are large and so I need to mount them up high on a wall (I can angle them down or perhaps provide 2" of space). Using the bookshelf speakers for the surround and back channels, would it be better to mount them upside down since the vertical null looked like it was only at the bottom? Seems like that would also put the tweeter closer to the ear.
    2. My left rear speaker can be mounted on a wall about 3' wide, but the right rear speaker at the same distance has no wall. My choice is to mount it from the ceiling in free space at that same distance or push it back 4' to another wall about 3' wide. Given those options, is it better to push it back or mount it as the only speaker in free space?
    3. In the scenario where you buy say, 3 center channels for the front, if I understood it correctly, you would stand the left and right speakers on their ends and lay the center channel down like normal, correct?
    Thank you.

    I know it's budget driven product, but the sudden increase in output past the crossover point (2.5-6kHz) is a bit of a mystery to me. I know the crossover network will be as simple as it can be, but maybe with 2 - 3 extra components things could be improved. Still, at this price very decent performance.

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner  Před 5 měsíci +2

      It could work, but two things:
      I believe the center channel is sealed so you will likely need to cross over your subwoofer a little bit higher. Make sure you pay attention to the placement of the tweeter, and that it is at or near ear level. If you go too far above or below this reference plane, then the sound will be degraded.

    Hi @ErinsAudioCorner,
    Thanks for your videos although its little high level for me. :=)
    My setup
    2 Monolith T6 towers, I had a monoprice Monolith C5 center but I switched to Klipsch 450C center based on reviews and suggestions.
    Subs = dual setup. I have a sub from 10565 monoprice 5.1 set thats on right side between 2 tower speakers. I am using monoprice 9723 12" sub 150W one that sits on left in between the 2 Monolith T6 towers.
    Question : should I go with Monolith C6 center to balance and make this work with the matching Monolith T6 towers? I never understood the timbre stuff people say. I do feel though based on my monoprice 10565 5.1 setup that matching LCR made a different good sound vs changign the center from different brand. Having said that, Klipsch 450C sounds good but sometimes its bright. I like little bassy smooth warm sound.
    So question is : I am I better off with Klipsch 450C or should I purchase SVS prime or Monolith Encore C6 instead? Thoughts?
    Finally, I use Sony DH 540 receiver without using the odyssey or whatever its called i.e. without any auto calibrations. I also have Sony DN1080 receiver that I need to setup with atmos speakers.

    • @tbob2224
      @tbob2224 Před 4 měsíci

      I would skip the 450c, these designs have a lot of issues (check Erins review on the 504c II). Vertically many of these MTM centers can work well, if you are into gaming then timbre matching is more important but room correction can solve some of this. I would personally go with the C6 if you can flip it vertically - maybe even possible to use a B6 if you have the space. If not then it's just best to avoid MTM (mid tweeter mid) designs and try to get a 3 way instead WMTW (woofer mid tweeter woofer).
      The 3 way will not always perform better but much if the time it will (The Novus N5C for example only performs a bit better when compared to the C6 horizontally).
      If you can't use the center vertically then look into (ordered by preference):
      Monolith 365C (erin review - one of the best centers I have personally ever heard for off axis listening)
      Infinity RC263 (audio science review)
      SVS Prime Center (erin review)
      Emotiva 3 C1 (erin review)
      Aperion Novus N5C (erin review)
      Monoprice also has some in wall 3 ways centers but I haven't seen any measurements on them.
      If you want to check the used market there are a few older designs that could work well:
      Wharfedale 9/10 CM (I personally have a 9 CM and it does have solid dispersion, it can match the Encore T6's fairly well after room correction)
      JBL Studio (several 3 way models)
      Revel Concerta C12
      Paradigm Center 1/3
      JBL LC1
      NHT Twoc
      Jamo D 500 LCD
      Many others...

    • @ajashadi1
      @ajashadi1 Před 4 měsíci

      @@tbob2224 Thanks for detailed response. I got the Monolith Encore C6 Center now so I will play with it little bit. Also, I will go ahead and order SVS Prime Center and see how that works compared to Encore C6 and Klipsch 450C. I will add one thing though, I usually watch movies alone or with my wife so I am not so concerned about sound dispersion and axis stuff as long as the sound is good near my LP Listening position and little bit around the room if I lie down or watch it from another area other than couch. The vocals/dialogs sound very good on 450C, its almost like the actor is in room talking to me lol. But I want to try out different speakers so I can make up my mind.
      Lesson learned = Skip budget center speakers from start unless you don't have the money at all and save that extra 50-100$ so you can do the 3 way expensive center speaker. The center channel should be given priority over the other speakers.

    • @tbob2224
      @tbob2224 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@ajashadi1There is a lot of personal preference to all of this - just sharing my experience.
      I had a pair of RP600M II's and I just could not handle the sharpness of them (decided to try Klipsch again after many years), it's not to say they sounded bad they would just give me a headache after 15-20 minutes at higher volumes even after room correction. The next person loves that sound.
      I think the 365C would probably match the T6's the best, you can also order from Target and return in store for free.
      I have heard the Prime as well I found it to be slightly thin, but I don't know how well they had their RC set up.
      Even 20 years ago I auditioned several speakers including B&W, Klipsch, Monitor Audio and others and ultimately ended up with a pair of Wharfedale Diamonds even though they were not the most detailed I could listen to them for extended lengths at high volumes with zero fatigue.
      I have heard many speakers with metal dome tweeters and several of them have given me fatigue as well, it's generally more rare for speakers with soft dome tweeters to give that much fatigue especially after room correction/tone controls.
      Yes, the center is the most important speaker in an HT system, then L/R, surrounds, and heights. I really do enjoy the Encore T6 and T5's at the sale prices ($119/$90 respectively). I had a pair of B6's as well but the T5's are just better at the same price in a stereo system.

    having the tweeter to one side on a mtm is a better approach less cancellation better soundstage
