Today we are going to learn about diatonic chords, and how to build a chord progression,
You are already very familiar with some diatonic chords even though we've never called them by that name. “Diatonic” is just a fancy word that means belonging to a particular key.
For example, let's say we are in the key of C major. The C major scale has the notes C, D, E, F, G, A, B, and C. Each of those is called a pitch, and each of those pitches is diatonic in the key of C.

Hello Mr. Hoffman, thank you for all your lessons. I think that I vibi vi IV chord progression sounds nice too. Thanks!
amazing work, mr hoffman, usually students learn about this stuff only after 6-8 years of piano ( if at all!). I like how you combine both classical and pop music from early stages on. keep it up, mate! :)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the material in the lessons.
A big thank you. i found that a good way to think about it is thinking the tonic to be 8 instead of 1. (of course its the same note, but subtracting 2 from 8 makes more sense to me :).
Best lessons ever are going on! Thank you )

Diatonic chords made easy thanks so much
You are amaestro! Thank you.
Thank you for making videos to teach us, I do need some helpful advice though if you can please help. How many weeks should I spend practicing diatonic chords of each key signature before moving on to the next (practicing everyday)?
Hi! Thank you for your question. There is no set amount of weeks to practice this - I suggest practicing this until it feels second nature, but you can still move on to something else and keep revisiting this exercise to keep it fresh. Remember that when a skill is not revisited, that skill can be forgotten. Happy playing and have fun!
thank you!!@@Hoffmanacademy
So amazing😊

Hello: Thanks to your teaching I have learned the ii V I Progression. I would like to know if you can provide us amateur musicians with the ii V I Chromatic Progression. We are in the C Major Scale we want to go to the F Note, however, we want to go there chromatically by the ii V I Progression in the C Major Scale.
Please let me know if you have such a challenge.

Forget finger puppet unless you are aiming at children. Children don't like it when spoken down to.
