  • Our favourite twins David and Stephen are back with their colourful Irish flag potato cakes. Using basic veggies and their twist on a traditional pesto, the boys have created a modern version of an Irish favourite. The perfect vegan starter if you're having friends over for St Patrick's Day.       +Meatballs I do not think you're going to get any meat recommendations from a cooking channel that I think only does vegetarian/vegan friendly recipes. With a username like Meatballs, I think you can trust your gut to make your meat choice. Hope all goes well if you try the recipe!

    Wow!!! These look so delicious!! I love st. Patrick's day! My husband was born on St. Patrick's Day. You could say I got lucky! Haha! I'm saving this for sure! In 2006 I believe I was in Ireland for st. Patrick's day and we got to see the parade in Dublin. Oh my gosh that was the best experience of my life! It was crazy! I loved it!

      i use flax seeds :P you just add 2tbsp water to 1tbsp seeds and it turns into the same sorta texture as egg whites, and it binds the same too. Flax seeds also keep longer than eggs too

    What they made was the vegan/gluten free version of potato cakes. Potato
    cakes are normal made with just mash potato, white flower, egg and
    seasoning of your choice.
    here a easy and quick potato cake recipe:
    500g mash potato
    40 to 50g plain flour
    about 1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 egg
    pepper, to taste
    60 to 80g butter or oil
    mix all together and cook it with a bit of oil untill each side is
    golden brown.

Because people used to eat everything and cook fresh. Modernisation got us in this situation and now modern pharmacy "helps" us with all their pills and stuff... It's a shame...

      Not possible to apply any shape to the spinach, and sweet potato version.
      So I decided to present a semi-solid form in a glass with the colors of the flag. If desired a little tuna could be scooped on top. Looked nice. With a small spoon was enjoying every bite

      you still won't get as much protein from those substitutes but by using 1 egg you can get around 1/5 the daily amount of protein you need XP

    Unlike Jamie I'm not remotely politically correct. And my question has nothing to do with any 'sensitivity' issue. but as an Irishman might I suggest that the very idea is cringeworthy? Any host offering up this particular goody may just put our legendary diplomacy skills to the test.
