    In cyprus we have smooth masonry walls, which are always chalky. So personally before I paint, I have to sand the wall down, use a blower or hose it down to get the dust off, then fill cracks,sand again, clean, 2 coats primer or stabiliser by dulux, then I can finally paint.

    Would you put this directly on wood? If so, would you then prime, then top coat or go straight from the sealer coat to top coat? I have cedar siding that the previous owner painted and it's peeling off....I'm fixing to strip it and have to repaint it and I want my work to bond super strong.

    I have wood sidding, and the wood cracks all over like small lines, no matter how many time I paint it the paint breaks as the wood reacts to the weather, another word the wood expands in hot weather which I think it causes the paint to break/crack. I was thinking paint it with silicone paint might solve the problem. Any suggestions?

    PPG has a primer called gripper that is great but I think a little Overkill and not cost-effective... most of the time when it comes to rough stucco, OU's a617 and backroll the whole house and then come back to where I originally started and put on a good fog coat... 2 coats dry, lots of paint...SW super paint usually.... My jobs still look good, 10years later...

    Is this being used in place of using a primer? I am painting my house yellow, over the top of yellow paint and it is wood siding that is about 70 years old. The last time we paint was 18 years ago, two coats of Kilz primer and two coats of Glidden Endurance. After painting the house basically 4 times, if there is a step I could cut out I would appreciate it!

      Here’s what you want to do; have that substance checked out… Break a piece off and have it checked out to see what it really is; do you think it’s a fungus but you could be wrong. Then, I would use a mixture of bleach and water to clean the surface. Make sure you than power wash it, let it dry and then proceed as in the video

      @jackwardley3626 Před 2 lety +1

      yes you can get a dirt repellent but never used it so don't know how well fresh paint would adhere to it my guess is that would make it more costly if you ever wanted to change the colour.

      No I’m sorry; use the bonding agent and then use a high-quality paint with a primer; you should be spending about US$45 per gallon on a good quality exterior paint that has primer in it. Anywhere between $45 and $65

      @@ofthewoods137 In 2006 my father died and my mother and I painted our entire house together. I looked at Consumer Reports and found out the best paint they suggested was Glidden Endurance paint (there was no primer in paint at that time). We prepped the house and fixed each wall of peeling paint or cracks etc. We washed it really well and applied 2 coats of Kilz primer by brush (she didn't like rollers and it was wood siding}. So we worked on each side of the house finishing each side as we went. So it is two coats primer and two coats paint. It is a lot of work and she drove me a little crazy but that paint job lasted 18 years! Right now there are a few peeling spots on the hot sunny side, but the rest of the house still looks good except faded. Glidden paint was bought by PPG. It is hard to find Endurance Paint now, but it was hard in 2006 as well. I would suggest this paint to anyone, we have had such good luck with it. Going through all the laborious steps my mother put me through was tough but it is a laborious job no matter what and if you do it right the first time it will be a long time before you have to do it again!!! I am 72 and starting the entire job again and for me this will be the last time!

    I am using sherwin-Williams emerald rain refresh on a stucco house in Cincinnati Ohio. Would the correct Sherwin-Williams product be called Loxon acrylic conditioner? The stucco Has been painted previously and of course is past due for a painting. I will power wash and scrape but wanted the best adhesion for the paint. I saw your video and wanted to take your advice but was having a hard time figuring out what the proper Sherwin-Williams equivalent to the PPG permit crate product you were using in the video. @@duaneheadworth6275 don’t fret. You’re fine. Yes. Use your product over it! Also. Re the number of the product they’re using now re. That number...Pull it up, they may be using a new substance with a different number after discontinuing the one. Just make sure it is used for your application.
