The last time Moreno made those sounds to someone joining Liverpool, he was on with Craig Burley. At the time Liverpool had been linked with Depay but eventually they brought some South American from the Bundesliga. It was a transfer he questioned by saying if he is good (the player), why isn't he well known him and why haven't other teams tried to buy him. The players name was Roberto Firmino.
Edit: that doesn't mean Slot is a guaranteed success. Just pointing out that ESPN pundits mainly know high profile individuals. Hence why they celebrated the signing of Depay but laughed at Firmino.

Sorry to say but Dutch managers have mainly disappointed in the Premier League. At best they were just meh. Dutch players have been amazing in England but not their managers. They may have had success in other countries but little in the EPL. Yes, I admit it is judgemental. Judging based solely on past reputations of previous Dutch managers. Even previous managers like van Gaal, ten Hag, Koeman, Hiddink came with big reputations but ended up winning one domestic cup at best. So it's understandable when they are judging Arne Slot who has even fewer titles than the 'best' of the Dutch. Even so, serial winners like Mourinho, Ferguson, Wenger arrived with low expectations but created a dynasty. So, I guess we'll have to see how it pans out for Slot.

This video will age very well. In a few months everybody will be blown away by this man. We Dutchies saw it with our own eyes: this is a very special coach. He is not only very intelligent, charismatic and charming in his media performances; he is also a tactical genius and all the players he worked with loved him. In terms of personality, he is very similar to Klopp. But without the anger issues. Oh, and as an Ajax-fan and not a Feyenoord-supporter: he is much, much better than Erik ten Hag, who brought us almost to the Champions League-final. Enjoy him!
Arne Slot will dominate their overrated league just like other new managers do e.g Ange postecoglou of Australia he was immediately dismissed by these clowns saying premier league is more difficult than Scottish league that he is not the right fit and now look at what he did if it were not for lack of squad depth from tottenham they would have still been in the title race and it is his first season imagine his sec?

I’ve honestly been seeing nothing but great things. Looking forward to seeing how he does and hope he shuts up a lot of these people who have been mocking the appointment bc he isn’t the “big name” they expected.

I think people underestimate how big of a job being a Liverpool manager is,especially replacing someone like klopp.
Here's a few reasons why.
1 .Liverpool need a rebuild, lots of players that was a core player for Liverpool success over the years needs to move on (salah,van dyk,robo) that's not an easy job for someone new.
2. It's not just the manager,it's the staff too,lots of people are leaving, not only klopp,it's gonna take some time before they can play the football they wanted.
3. The epl fixture are insane,so many games even if you're not in the champions league,the adjustment gonna take some time.
Overall I think Liverpool needs to go through another rebuild.
Won't surprise me if they miss out top 4 next season but has a slowly incline progress

Even as a Liverpool fan I have no idea about Arne Slot but I guess we will find out next season assuming we get him.
The comparison with ETH is a bit silly in my opinion as Liverpool have a far superior squad that Slot is taking over and is already challenging for league titles as opposed to the team ETH inherited.
No manager can succeed at Man United. ETH would have done better at a better club.

Because you’re not a Dutch football follower (I assume), I’ll try to explain why Slots performances at Feyenoord were so special. Feyenoord is a very difficult club. In 2017 they won the Dutch league for the first time in 18 (!) years. When Slot came in 2021, Feyenoord was struggling with financial problems. Slot didn’t had a lot of money to spend on the market. But he managed to built a great team in his first season and brought Feyenoord to the final of the conference league. Not by luck, but with great, high pressing and dominant football. That summer, he lost almost all of his topplayers and had to rebuilt again. Which he did. A new team, but Feyenoord was even better then the season before and became champion and reached to the quarter final of the Europa League. And this season they won the Dutch Cup. Spurs and Chelsea wanted Slot last summer, but he stayed. And now it’s his time to make a move.

Antony choose the wrong club, like every other player did in recent years when they moved to Manchester United. That club ruins every player. I'm sure if you transfer Antony to Sevilla, Roma or for example Bayer Leverkusen, he would be great. Graham Potter failed at Chelsea, but who doesn't these days? Look at Pochettino now, who did a good job at Spurs. Liverpool is a well-organized club, who will back Slot and the Dutch influence there is a benefit for him.
I respect your opinion and I can understand why you think like this, but I swear, Slot is different class. I've never seen people like Marco van Basten, Dirk Kuyt and Ruud Gullit be so full of enthousiasm about a coach.
Real fans do not say "Who?" about Arne Slot. Unlike Ale Moreno we are very well versed in football and know the landscape. That being said Arne does feel like our 4th or 5th choice to replace Klopp. I'm quite surprised so many managers have said no or been negotiated out tbh.
As a PSV fan, I think Slot is a perfect fit for Liverpool. He is smart and has a clear idea of how he wants to play football (a bit similar to Klopp), so I think the players will adapt quickly.

Shake Hislop mentioned the possibility that Arne Slot may be a stop-gsp until Xabi Alonso becomes available but I don't really think that is Liverpool's style or at least I sincerely hope it's not.

As long as it’s not Roy Hodgson, I’m fine with it. That was an appointment that every Liverpool fan knew right away was doomed.
Anyone taking or avoiding this job understands the expectations and maybe is one of the reasons Xabi turned it away as well as being in his early years of management..our club structure will surely have looked down all avenues and will pick the best suitor from available options. We also have to consider players who will leave (Salah!)…and players we may bring in, playing style of the new manager so it may be a rebuilding year we have to endure but we will come strong again.

Dutch managers come to the EPL with big reputations but don't win the title and mostly end in disappointment, Van Gaal, Koeman, de Boer, ten Hag and even HIddink and Ruud Gullit previously. Slot can't do worse.

I think the best solution for everyone is another Dutch manager and that's Pep Lijnders, but he's adamant to leave with Klopp. But, with Xabi and Amorim out of the picture, there is not much to choose from.

I will give slot about 6 months, then see were Liverpool FC are? The dutch league is very weak, not much bettet than the Spl league. If this guy is going to work on a low budget that spells danger for the start, Liverpool FC need top players and a top winning manger. FSG could not care less about the supporters or the club. The Everton, Crystal Palace and Atalanta results says everything.
Eredivisie is the 6th league in Europe (just behind France), while the SPL is 11th just behind Czech Republic and just ahead of Switzerland. You are about 5 years behind reality.

Its clear nobody on this show has done any homework on Slot which if Im not mistaken is their actual job. Highest recovery rate after losing possession in all of europe belong's to Slot's current team. Number two behind him is liverpool. The club saw his value so much that they gave him a massive salary (for the dutch league) which is on par with an epl salary because they wanted to keep him there long term. He also plays a very high intensity attacking football which is very exciting. So yea Edwards and FSG have done their homework and Slot actually is a very good fit for the Prem and actually turned down a lower tier Prem club last year because he said he would only leave holland for a top tier club. Smart move by Liverpool if they do indeed sign him.
Hearing these clueless analysis like Ale Moreno is so annoying...the main appointment liverpool made came a few months ago which is Micheal Edwards and he would no doubt do actual real analytics on who should be the right manager

Liverpool should be apprehensive, period. They're on the verge of losing one of the top 3 managers in the world -- their greatest in decades --, they've watched as their season has collapsed spectacularly and the squad morale is probably at a years-long low, their rivals have continued to thrive (City) and Arsenal is the rising star of the EPL, the ownership has failed again and again to secure top talent such as Bellingham (who Liverpool was heavily linked with and is now arguably the best midfielder in the world), the managers they were linked to to replace Klopp have fallen out of favor just as fast as they came into the picture (Alonso, for instance), and they're likely to lose Salah and maybe Van Dijk this summer. Frankly, its a mess of a situation the club finds itself in. The fans have every right to be apprehensive at the moment, and I wouldn't blame them for being pessimistic.
Salah will be of no loss, please don’t just judge him on his stats as his goals have mainly come from others. He disappears for 89 minutes takes Elliot’s penalty and is a Liverpool saviour????…if we had won the PL you’d say differently, you need to remember how the academy kids got us through a plague of injuries 10 at one point and kept us in this race, we’ve players not match fit still and yes we have let Klopp down. No one wants us to win anything as there jealous of our achievements without cheating FFP rules. We should also be at least 9 blatant points further forward but for incompetent refs so all in all a good season with what we’ve had available…a season that’s almost killed Klopp to get us here now.

Arne won Eredivisie manager of the year while they were both in the league.
Slot is very well respected across Netherlands and is seen as a sort of Klopp figure, likeable, great manager, works wonders on smaller budgets, uses academy players well, plays attractive football.
ETH was always seen as arrogant, very unlikeable, only succeeded because he was with Ajax with budgets 5-6X that of Feyenoord / Alkmaar

The Dutch league is indeed much weaker than the Premier League, but what he did with Feyenoord in Europe was quite impressive. In his first season, he reached the Conference League-final. In his second year, he reached to the quarter finals of the Europa League. This year in the Champions League, he was a bit unlucky in the group phase. But you should watch the highlights of the away game against Atletico Madrid. They dominated that team in the Metropolitano. Don't forget that Feyenoord is not a big club in Europe anymore.

You can say that about any incoming manager. Alex Ferguson came from a farmer's league and made Man Utd the best team in the world. Mourinho came from another farmer's league and won a few titles in the PL. Guardiola came from two leagues where there are usually the same 2 teams battling for the league title, and he's won pretty much everything in the PL.
Then you have managers who were already in the PL, moved to another PL team, and failed to win anything - e.g. Graham Potter, Nuno Espirito Santo, Pochettino.
