Mega Man X6 - Gate's Lab Stage 2

Boss 1: High Max
Boss 2: Gate
Weaknesses: Ha.
This stage is divided into two parts. The first part is practically littered with those Totem Poles from Ground Scaravich's stage. At the end, you face High Max, who has a new tactic of having two walls on his sides. Makes dodging him a little harder given the bigger hitbox and all.
The second half depends on what character you are. If you're X, you deal with more acid rain from Rainy Turtloid's stage. If you're Zero, it's another crusher segment, like in Metal Shark Player's stage. At the end, you fight Gate, who is immune to ALL of your attacks. The only way to damage him is to destroy those orbs he sends out at you, and hope the little fragments hit him. And since Gate sometimes tends to take his time sending them out, this fight could take a while. If he's not shooting orbs, he's chasing you, and since there's a bottomless pit below with very few platforms to stand on, odds are you will fall at least once in this fight. Especially when he unveils a new attack that can destroy said platforms. And of course, Sigma comes in to hijack the game from Gate.

Also fun fact: the crystals on Gate's armor change color depending on which color Nightmare Orb he's about to fire. Plus, if you turn on Rookie Hunter mode before the gate fight in the X Legacy Collection, a FLOOR will show up.

Ikr, they didn't even TRY to make it look decent. It looks like if Mega Man X had a level creator spin off like Super Mario Maker and this stage was made by those players that are Kaizo lovers.
Not shitting on the people that like to make kaizo levels in Mario Maker tho, It just looks like one of those in MMX6. The rushed state of the game really shows how badly everything looks like.
Shock Buffer is one of the MOST important parts in X6 because the boss hits you very hard!

Black Zero has shock buffer as well, so you won’t need to equip it. Frees up space.
1:53 You're not a true X6 player until you've accidentally Hyoroga'd into those spikes while trying to jump onto the ladder
This stage isn't a challenge, it's a punishment.

Just beat the game again, with the same unpleasant memories.
Figured out High Max is quite easy to beat (with the Blade Armor), but Gate is a pain in the ass. There is no trick to beat Gate easily, you must develop the skill to navigate the platforms while trying to hit him consistently, taking the least damage possible. Looks easy with Zero because of the double jump, but the blade armor is a pain in the ass to maneuver. I spent two sub tanks and had to use the dragonflies weapon.
I think I died on this game more than any other Mega Man X game

Ah the memories of childhood , love the effect they gave the zero and x when they are at low health holding their arm. Even zero head light is flashing. Amazing freaking detail!

Zero(Armor includes Shock Buffer, Shot Eraser, and Saber+): Buster+, Speed Shot, W-Energy Saver, Powerdrive

I can't decide which boss is worse. The stupid pink squares that move in random directions, or Gate. Either way, I love the dancing to High Max's theme. I do the same thing when I play these games.
Gate is purely RNG.
The nightmare mother (I think that's what it is called) is easier(ish)

Here's the excellent parts if I play as Zero:
Shock Buffer, Full Recovery, Saber+, Saber+, 1/2 Weapon Usage, and Speedster
Quite the part w/rapid wall jumps in a pit w/the ceiling dropping- and enemies.
Gate being invulnernerable, & orb explosions hitting both of you most of the time was tricky.
What a cutscene after.

While this stage can be hard, it is actually just as difficult as the stages of Megaman Zero.

I think despite it haves very good songs (like all MMX abd MM) most of the soundtrack as a whole is a bit inferior to X4 and X5.
Most of the complaints about X6 are due to the difficulty. X7 is the really shitty one.
Too many spikes... And it looks like developers hate Zero. Gate lab 2 harder for zero (who can't use armor without code) than x?
This game is frustration incarnate
The level design is absolutely horrendous
The bosses range from easy to frustrating
There are moments where being under equipped will make it impossible to progress
AND WHOEVER DESIGNED GATE’S FORTRESS SHOULD’VE BEEN FIRED

The DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUN DUNDUNDUN intro to this level's theme is just about the most annoying and demoralizing piece of music I know, speaking of the OST
@@Daniel-kx3zz it is possible without the black zero code but more difficult as you'd have to level him up all the way to the max which is ultimate hunter and that allows five parts to be equipped and the shock buffer is a definite must have as it halves the damage done to you

I think Zero got shafted with the crusher stage, X gets the easy part.
X gets the Nightmare Rain and there is one section that is impossible for Shadow Armor X to clear without the Hyper Dash part.
@@slimballs9650 it is possible without hyper dash but you need to use a giga attack to stop your air momentum... it definitely does not seem intended to be possible lol

Torey White might be late but he was consumed by the virus that was zero's dna at the crash site from X5 he went to see if anyone survived then he picked up zero's dna and thus letting wily and sigma easily possess the innocent gate.
