A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually-dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.
The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and - armed with a pumpkin and a few mice - changes Cinderella’s life forever.

When I saw the movie, I expected the ball dresses of the stepsister to be boring or stupid, but they were GORGEOUS

It's absolutely perfect imo, I thought they made it a bit too blue but it was just movie filters. The real thing's color is even more accurate its mindblowing.
I wish she would do Ariel's dress or maybe Snow white's dress if there's a live action since someone already made Belle's dress

I went to that exhibition and if I had to sum it all up with one word it would be "FANTASTIC!"
The dresses were a beautiful and looked just as beautiful in person and they appeared in the film. I didn't really like the "Fairy Godmothers" dress in the movie. But when I saw how stunning and detailed it was in person, I immediately fell in love with it. So that's one dress that you have got to see in person. But I was speechless when I saw Cinderella's blue dress she wore to the ball. It's I think ever girls dream to wear and own a dress like this, because it was simply flawless! I wanted to just reach over the rope and touch it. But of course I didn't want to break any rules, so I didn't think of acting on it. LOL! So Cinderella's blue dress was of course my favorite dress there (I'm sure a lot of others would agree with me!)
I also enjoyed the colors they put the Prince in. They used colors that were bright, calm and happy. Overall it's definitely a MUST SEE exhibit! 10/10!

I love how the step sisters' gowns are extravagant, like how they would like it, and within their budget(i dont think they can afford a gown like Ella's), but not that extravagant to overthrow the main character.
Of course, Ella's gown was and IS the best, no debate there, but the sisters' dresses are beautiful too. I just thought to give some credit to that.
All my life I've dreamed to wear Cinderella's dress and glass shoes. I wanted to be a princess even if it was just for a moment. But I know that moment would be on my mind forever. I wish I could do that someday🥺

I was in London at that time and saw it from the outside, too bad I didn't have a lot of free time and couldn't convince my friends to come with me and see it :/ I had no idea it looked so amazing on the inside! The whole exhibition tent looked kind of plain on the outside though :)
