I love this amp. 6 months after buying it, I still love it. I spent the extra coin for the matching 1x12 cab. it sounds phenomenal. it will do anything from country, blues, to metal. Yes I have gigged with it too. I end up with my masters around 1 o'clock on the dirty channels, which is weird to get used to because I've never had to turn one up that high, but It is a definitely sweet spot . These videos that Blake put out helped me make the decision to buy. Thank you.

More than anything, this is an ad for low resistance/ low output pickups. I have BB 1&2 in my R0, they measure 7.4 and 7.9 respectively. Beautiful clean, clear, bright sound. You can hear the wood and the strings. Get a clear, clean, full high fidelity tone first, then boost it as necessary. You don't create overdrive with your pickups, unless this is 1972 and master volume amps haven't been invented yet. You create open transparent tone with pickups and shape it with your amp. VH used low impedance potted PAFs, he got a pretty good sound.

Thanks man. He is definitely my favorite amp builder - firmly rooted in classic designs with improvements that make playing guitar a joy. Concerning the mini 800 - it needed a lot of volume to sound right for me, at which point I'd rather just have have a 2204 honestly. I'd take this over the mini 800. While this 3534 may not be quite as raw, it is not a super polished sounding amp like some other designs. Tons of versatility and GREAT tones. I do wish it had a bigger sonic footprint like a 50 watt amp, that's my biggest gripe with the 3534. Kinda sounds like a lunchbox/full size hybrid, which I guess it is.

Like, Friedman's taking all the attention these days. I like that this has 3 channels. I like to have cleans, overdrive and high-gain. With 2 channel amps I have to run a clean, crunch and increase to high-gain with a Tubescreamer. This seems to be a better option. The genre is pretty much anything from low clean gain to a singing lead tone with a good sustain to play crazy arpeggios and Greg Howe style Tapped arpeggios and some nice rick riffs. No need for red channels in my playing as I would keep the Blue Channel's gain at around 6 and boost the volume a little during the solos.
