      No offense intended but it's highly doubtful you or i will live long enough to wear out our 300 in lines. I'm 64, with a pristine 96 F250, 4.9, 2WD, auto tranny, so if i even live another 20 years i guess my nephew will be driving it with the factory stock engine in it. My biggest issue is the socialist will stop the gas, and that's sad.

    while i agree the ford I6 is a damn solid engine, and can be made even better, putting out more power and using the same fuel, and being much more lively on the road, the key here looked like the lack of pulling experience. once that smoke started rolling on that chevy, hammer down on the ford, that hot rubber on the chevy wouldnt give any bite, ive used the same tactic on a ford hi boy with a really mile 68 ford 390 build put into the hi boy, and the 454 i pulled had to be more powerful. it was a vortec and it ran great. i let those tires get hot and dagged him a couple hundred feet. i never broke traction. we were both running 33 12.50 tires on different rims and mine were out of manufacture and half gone. i took out the front drive shaft and the rear axle needed to be adjusted on the chevy. had i kept going, im sure the t case woulda gone next. i had a weaker design t case with my np203 but better crawl ratio. he had a 5 speed with creeper gear, i had a C6. but we were pulling in 4hi. i did have lockers on both axles stock, and both were dana 60's. whats a lot of fun is seeing the early datsun and nissans play at a county fair track lol.

The GMC engines were> 305,351,401,and a huge 472 and they were all V6 engines. My dad owned several during my youth and I can attest to the fact that if that GMC equipped with one of those engines couldn't pull what ever you hitched it to,it would break the clutch,trans or differential trying. My dad ripped three rear ends out of his 63 GMC in less than a year trying to pull extreme loads. Those GMC V6s just didn't quit,that 63 seemed to have no limit of power.

I myself have always been partial to Fords because dad's Ford trucks always were more durable than the Chevy/GMC trucks he owned. I repaired both brands during my 25+ years as a mechanic,but I still prefer a Ford over GM and both of my current vehicles are Fords(2001 F150 Supercrew and a 2005 Freestyle AWD

    • @sylumgand
      @sylumgand Před 8 lety +3

      +Just Here For The CZcams Yep the 300 I6. You're comparing a truck that was built to pull/tow to one that wasn't. The Ford held him back and started going forward before he stood on the brakes.
      I've seen the loads a 94 F150 with the straight six hauled first hand, weight that you should only pull with an F350/F450. And the only part of the truck that protested were the brakes. It was a nursery truck that hauled trailers stacked with BnB, with enough weight in the bed that before hooking up the trailer it was on the bump
      stops. And it did that weekly for a few years until we got an Isuzu panel truck. It hauled tractors, backhoes, anything that could fit on a 20ft trailer.

      @larryharbin6802 Před 7 lety +6

      Displacement and Cylinders has nothing to do with the torque of the l6 300 and the 350. That Ford would yank the axle off that Chevy if the driver of the ford had dropped that truck in gear and hammered down. The Ford l6 is LEGENDARY for its torque. The 350 is not. Higher RPMs on the 350 will give more HP, however it only then begins to get near the torque of the L6. The L6 doesn't do well at high RPMs (That being the l6 300. The l6 200 - 220 however can yield up to 585 HP when build right). There is a reason that the Ford l6 was used on trucks, buses and tractors for over 30 years. (Also, the Chevy rear end in that particular truck is pure shit).
