      Colin Cowherd you make great points though. Just sticking to the facts. I'm a fan of Westbrook... I truly believe he wants to win SO bad, but he has to learn how to make other people around him better. That's been his Achilles heel his while career.

      I agree with you 100 percent. I've been telling people that KD left because Westbrook is a me first, ego-centric, ball hog. I would tell Westbrook to trust the players around him and don't carry the whole burden of being the only superstar on your team.

    • @chriswhit18cw
      @chriswhit18cw Před 7 lety

      I'm am a diehard Thunder fan and will always support Westbrooks case for MVP. But my game plan would involve westbrook passing the ball more in those close game situations. He only had 5 assists last night. When he has less than 10 assists, they normally lose. There was a play last night, I dont remember the exact time but I know it was the 4th, when westbrook tossed the rock to Oladipo for a three and he drained it, that's what needs to be happening more, Russ needs to trust his teammates. THe only bad thing, its hard to trust your teammates when your the 30th or 31st best, or worst, 3pt shooting team in the league

    • @curtismynameheard4628
      @curtismynameheard4628 Před 7 lety

    • @chriswhit18cw
      @chriswhit18cw Před 7 lety +1

      Exactly, he doesn't have many guys to count on, Morrow was a good 3pt reliablity when it came down to it but he wasn't no Kyrie, Oladipo is good but again, when it comes down to it, not too reliable. And the bench is terrible. Westbrook and the other starters will have them up by almost 20 and when the bench comes out, they have them losing by 20.

    As I've seen several people in these comments mention already, I'll reiterate: Harden never said get me out of here. He was traded to Houston in one of the biggest heists in NBA history (right after the Boogie Cousins trade). Kevin Durant made a weak move. Colin says KD is better off, but seriously, >99% of players who would leave their current teams to play for Golden State would be better off. Golden State was great without KD so it'd make sense he'd "flourish" once he got there. His new team is stacked. Only legitimate argument that could be made would be for Ibaka because he's found his niche. Scott Brooks had the 2nd seed in the WEST several times whereas he's 3rd in the weak East.

    If Russell Westbrook were to play in all his remaining 18 games of the season while somehow never scoring another point, never grabbing another rebound, and never dishing another assist, his 2016-17 stat line would work out to 25.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.8 assists.

    4. Is averaging a triple double for the season. People are really underestimating this. If it was that easy, more players would be doing it.

    Hate to say it, but Colin is right today. Been a OKC fan for quite awhile but this game today is probably one of the most mind boggling games. The team barely got touches, RW just keeps bringing it up and shooting blanks. It's pretty frustrating to see that the team is literally standing there with Adams screening and RW shooting. The other 3 just stands there blankly.
    RW, stop this nonsense. I miss the old days in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 where close games were so intense that had me on the edge of my seat rooting for anyone on the team to get a play off. This whole season, didn't have that feeling at all.

      www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/three-point-pct Right...I take 29 over 30. To answer your point, McBuckets is a pretty good 3 shooter, Abrines is pretty solid, D.Sabo is pretty good, Dipo is pretty good too.
      Not even sure you get the point I was making but hey, not expecting a touch and go viewer to understand.

    I absolutely agree that America has become romantic about Westbrook and he is definitely not a league MVP, but degenerate gambler math? Let's not forget that he is an elite level professional athlete playing at the highest level in arguably the most competitive sport. If a degenerate gambler can expect this level of success, I'm on my way to Vegas myself.

    Interesting Russ blames team defense for the loss... considering that u are the most physically gifted point guard in the league maybe you could save some energy by jacking up less shots and let ur teammates shoot so you can play some d

    Durant went to a team that won over 70 games last year without him. If we are being honest, the Warriors had a better record at this point last year without him than they do this year with him.

    What y'all don't understand is that u can be a ballhog and get 10-15 assists.. every play Westbrook has to be on the ball creating the opportunities he doesn't have good sense of when to give the ball to certain people the way Chris Paul does for example

    durant is thriving because of the SYSTEM. Look at warriors with mark jackson...2nd round playoff team. Look at them with steve kerr before durant..same team different system, championship contender. Put westbrook in a system like golden state and with better role players and watch him thrive. If the coach is only drawing up simple screen and roles and you have a bunch of teammates clogging the paint, what other option does westbrook have than to score 40-50 everynight?

  • @veryrareap

    I've always appreciated how Colin backs up his arguments, but this one feels pretty weak. Reggie Jackson was traded and I wouldn't say he has "blossomed" in Detroit (not to mention he was becoming a problem in the locker room before being traded). Serge was traded and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't think Presti robbed Hennigan in that trade. Scott Brooks was fired, but Billy Donovan has been doing a fine job too. The Harden trade has been beaten to death, but again, he was traded. KD is the only piece that truly left Russell because he wanted to leave. At the end of the day, I'm still not sure what that has to do with Russ being worthy/unworthy of the MVP. He's doing some historic things and is super fun to watch. Let's just enjoy it and give him credit for what he's accomplishing.

    Harden has been using the regular season to help get his team of subpar players to a point where the chemistry is perfect. Russ is using the regular season to get as many stats as he can. Triple doubles? Cool, who cares. If Russ was more focused on getting his teammates involved and making them better then maybe his team would be better.

  • @baledinho
    @baledinho Před 7 lety

    Triple doubles can mask a lot of flaws but not enough for Westbrook...
    For the casual NBA fan stats and triple doubles is how they can feel involved with the conversation but for the die hards who have been watching basketball for years, who actually sit down and analyse games, we would all pick, Kawhi, Harden, Isaiah Thomas and of course LeBron ahead of Westbrook.

  • @birgirbent4862
    @birgirbent4862 Před 7 lety

    What Colin doesn't understand is that Westbrook has to take all those shots, if he doesn't then Roberson, Rookie Sabonas and Oladipo (of form) will take it. He is the only guy on that team who is a reliable scorer. He will miss shots but at least it is more likely he will make the shots instead of all the others on his team

  • @rossdenholm7501
    @rossdenholm7501 Před 6 lety

  • @jarredm3047
    @jarredm3047 Před 7 lety

    What?? James Harden didn't want to leave, he didn't get paid by the Thunder. Reggie and Ibaka got traded, and Brooks was fired. Sure, i'll give you Durant, but you can't blame everything on Westbrook.
    He also lives in OKC, not a high free agent landing spot, so he can't get that many free agents just like LeBron did until he left for Miami.

  • @JayTheRealest1
    @JayTheRealest1 Před 7 lety

    To be fair, Westbrook has almost no offensive help. Oladipo and Kanter (who's hurt) are the only people he can expect to get their own shot, so OKC needs to surround him with better offensive talent. McDermott and Gibson won't cut it. With that being said, he still has plenty of mentality issues he needs to work on; I'm rooting for Harden as MVP.

    Durant obviously more efficient on golden state, harden was traded and became focal point of offense so obviously doing better, Scott brooks has the same record as he did when on OKC, and ibaka doing the same thing as he did when on OKC- putting up decent numbers and filling in well
