Hi dear. 68yo Army here. The little girl represents Army. Army was founded July 9, 2013 so Army is only 10 years old....hence Army is portrayed by a child or children in their videos. This was Jin's good bye song to Army before he enlisted in the military. He and Chris Martin of Coldplay wrote it.
I read many posts that say he is the alien and his spaceship crashed. While he was waiting for it to get fixe/powered up, he met this family. The little girl is ARMY. She taught him what love is and what family is. When the he saw the light he had to go back to the ship. He gave the little girl the helmet to protect her. Helping her to learn how to ride the bike was him teaching us that we can do it now without his help. It also could be his dongsaeng (younger brothers). He helped them grow up and now they can do it without him as well. Then he gets to the ship to leave (the military) and then he comes back to us, his family. I cried so much after watching Jin's performance at Coldplay concert in Buenos Aireseven more when Chris said: about 6 months ago one of their members called me and said "I have to leave the band in december for 2 years and join the ARMY in Korea". And he said that "I need a song to tell goodbyes to everybody for a little while". One explanation video I watched said that code on Jin's neck is braille for Army. Yes it's Coldplay who collaborated with Jin on this song as his love letter to the Army before he leaves the band for 2 years while he enlists in the military.

We all can’t wait to see what else Jin has waiting for us when he comes back. He had the shortest time to release material before enlisting so we only got this wonderful gift. So good.
The Astronaut was actually quite a surprise in terms of Jin's voice. We're generally used to hearing a much higher register of his voice but he definitely masters both. I think it might have to do with the fact that Coldplay wrote the music (and Jin wrote the Korean lyrics). This was the perfect going away song from Jin to ARMY. As others have said the girl with the purple helmet represents ARMY but there're a lot of other easter eggs in the MV as well. To name a few : - The truck is a storyline reference - Chris Martin playing the news anchor on the TV - The guitar Chris gave Jin displayed in his room - The black squares in his crossword say FOR ARMY in braille ......and many more. Jin has always said that he used to feel lost, like he was just floating through space, but that he discovered who he really was through BTS and ARMY. We basically connected him with his own self and his emotions, just like in this MV. The Astronaut continues Jin's use of space as an analogy, one that he also used in Moon, another song he made about his relationship with ARMY: Jin is the moon and we're the center that he will continue to gravitate toward and circle around. 💜 (Fun fact: The children's drawings were made by the director's daughter. 🥰)

Jin is our astronaut/moon always looking out for ARMY - we all melted when he released this especially because he was the first to leave us. After a quick glance at your reactions the last few months it looks like the only two solo bts you haven't checked out is V (Taehyung) and Jhope. I may have just missed them if you did. If you haven't here are two recommendations each and you'll find they too have very different sounds from the others. Jhope - Arson and More. His latest solo work gave us a more dark and edgy vibe. For Tae I suggest Slow Dancing and Singularity. His have a neo soul and jazzy vibe. Loving their solo work but can't wait for them to start putting out group projects again in 2025 once they've all completed their military service. 😊💜

This is a collaboration with Coldplay and you can hear Chris Martin singing background vocals. This isn't really about wanting to be an astronaut. This is a metaphor for him ending up in BTS. A world unfamiliar to him and unexpected and finding love and acceptance in it and having the opportunities to leave if he wanted and choosing not to.
They all do definitely come to the table with their own thing. This is part of the reason it's not only amazing but also unexpected that they can be a group of seven and still produce awesome music together.
They are each beautifully unique in their music. There is not a group out there that has 7 awesome artists of their caliber, not one. Still recommend the live in Argentina with Coldplay, (Chris Martine is doing the background vocals here) it is outstanding and his last performance gift to ARMY before his enlistment. All seven of them have different personalities and different talents, and they seem to combine like cogwheels to create the best balance and synergy. :) As you know, all BTS members are serving in the military. Jin already enlisted about 14 months ago and is currently serving as an assistant in the Korean Army boot camp under Korean law. And he will be discharged from the army four months later and come back to our side on June 12. If you want a little backstory about the music video, Jin is an astrounaut(or alien) from another planet who crashed on Earth. Doesn’t it sound like a Coldplay song? This is Jin’s farewell love letter to ARMY right before he left to serve in the ARMY. That’s Chris Martin backing him up! Jin is our astronaut/moon always looking out for ARMY - we all melted when he released this especially because he was the first to leave us. In the MV he was able to make the decision to stay but in real like he had to leave only for a short while. He’ll be back this June so look out for a full album 💜
After a quick glance at your reactions the last few months it looks like the only two solo bts you haven't checked out is V (Taehyung) and Jhope. I may have just missed them if you did. If you haven't here are two recommendations each and you'll find they too have very different sounds from the others. Jhope - Arson and More. His latest solo work gave us a more dark and edgy vibe. For Tae I suggest Slow Dancing and Singularity. His have a neo soul and jazzy vibe. Loving their solo work but can't wait for them to start putting out group projects again in 2025 once they've all completed their military service. 😊💜

Yea!!! You figured it out!! Jin is famous for "Epiphany". Find his Live Performance. He wrote the song. But Big Hit changed most of it. His original version is on their album "Be". I wrote you a long comment that got deleted. Jin Never sang or danced before BTS. Amazing, but true. Wah. I explained his story, but CZcams deleted it. So later.
Jin flew to Argentina where Coldplay were holding their concert and performed this song with Coldplay for the first and last time on stage just before his entrance to the Military.
I, as well as ALL ARMY CRUED our Hearts out. It was so beautiful and Touching You should REALLY REACT to that stage.

This is a collaboration with Coldplay and you can hear Chris Martin singing background vocals.
This isn't really about wanting to be an astronaut. This is a metaphor for him ending up in BTS. A world unfamiliar to him and unexpected and finding love and acceptance in it and having the opportunities to leave if he wanted and choosing not to.
You should watch the live version with Coldplay. Make sure to watch chris' speech as well before Jin sings.

They are each beautifully unique in their music. There is not a group out there that has 7 awesome artists of their caliber, not one. Still recommend the live in Argentina with Coldplay, (Chris Martine is doing the background vocals here) it is outstanding and his last performance gift to ARMY before his enlistment. Check out one of my two vocal line favorites "The Truth Untold" or "House of Cards".

Jin is a very mature adult mentally, but he is a man who also possesses the innocence of a boy.
All seven of them have different personalities and different talents, and they seem to combine like cogwheels to create the best balance and synergy. :)
As you know, all BTS members are serving in the military.
Jin already enlisted about 14 months ago and is currently serving as an assistant in the Korean Army boot camp under Korean law. And he will be discharged from the army four months later and come back to our side on June 12.
The Astronaut was made by Jin with Coldplay's Chris Martin as a gift to say goodbye to ARMY just before he joined the army.
If you want a little backstory about the music video, Jin is an astrounaut(or alien) from another planet who crashed on Earth. He still wanted to back to his home planet, but the little girl represents ARMY who found him and gave him a home. When he has a chance to go back to his planet, he remembers the life he has spent with the little girl on Earth, realizes how happy it was and how much he loved it, and decides to stay on Earth. He's found his home is HERE.
Btw, Jin's neck in the music video at 3:50 says "ARMY" in Braille and the crossword puzzle (the black squares) means "FOR ARMY" in Braille. :)

This song reminds me Jin's speech in 2018 MAMA. Jin said in his acceptance speech at the 2018 MAMA that BTS suddenly became famous worldwide and had a hard time for a year due to great pressure and fear. They even thought about disbanding. However, after a year of talking and contemplating with the members, they decided to stay in the industry only for the fans and members. They stayed for ARMY even though they had a chance to return to their normal lives. And at the concert in Busan in 2022, SUGA told ARMY to grow old together because they will make music for another 20 or 30 years.
BTS' love for ARMY is very deep, and they always show their love through their music. The Astrounaut is one such song.
