My Dad went to Seminary when I was 3. One Friday, he came home and said he had a new recipe the preachers had been fixing during the week...it was a pizza. He made the dough, spread the sauce, covered it with browned hamburger and sprinkled it with parmesian cheese. We thought it was the best thing ever. It wasn't long after that we tried the Chef Boyardee version. Ours were square, too! Great memories of great meals.❤🙏 Jane in SC

My family never ate pizza. I was ~ 13 yo when I had my 1st pizza. A new family (Italian) had moved to our small town and I had made friends w/ their son. I was over @ their house and his mom had made pizza (all from scratch) for lunch. As a good southern boy, I was taught to graciously accept any food offered. Well....after the 1st bite, I was hooked! I thought it was the best stuff I'd ever eaten!!

I am older than you and Matt, but one of the things I love most about your channel is that every time I watch, I go back to my childhood and my Grandmother's kitchen. She had an old gas heater, and on these colder days, I can still hear the soft hiss, and a little tick tick ticked noise the heater makes. I was probably around 16 years old when I discovered my Grandmother didn't invent the chocolate no bake cookies. She would always make them up, especially when the weather was cold outside. They were also a Christmas staple. Thank you so much for bringing back some memories of a time I loved so much. God bless you, Matt, and the girls (Austin, too).

My memory of my elementary school lunchroom in Rowan County, NC, is primarily sitting in my classroom in the morning and being able to enjoy the delicious aroma of yeast rolls baking in the lunchroom kitchen. Oh, my goodness gracious, that memory still makes me hungry! My mother did her best to raise 5 kids alone, but we never had enough to eat. I LOVED lunchroom meals! I remember lunch was 20 cents back around 1958. ❤

Yes, I used to love to eat in the high school cafeteria. I didn’t always have money for that, but you could get a bowl of vegetable soup for 8 cents; carton of milk 8 cents; a beautiful slice of chocolate cake was 10 cents.they never served pizza. My oldest son is in CA for Naval training. Within the first week of him getting there, he called asking me if I would mail "Cowpies" for him and five other guys he is in training with. He did just finish his basic training as well so the poor thing has been without his favorite cookies for over three months now. I was just so excited to be able to do that for him and his friends. It's a whole new type of joy when your child is away from home, and the only thing they want is your cooking. I only use two cups of whole oats, not the quick oats and 3/4 cup of peanut butter. I also only use 6 tablespoons of butter. My family likes them a little more on the more solid side. I always make a double batch because they go so fast and for me there is almost nothing better at 2:00am.😁

Hey Tipper, I've found the easiest recipe for pizza sauce, and simply won't buy store bought sauce anymore. Add the following to a pot and warm it, but the longer you let it simmer, the better it gets.
28 oz can Cento crushed tomatoes, 2 tbls olive oil, 1 tbls garlic (I do use prepared garlic in a jar), 3/4 tsp red pepper flakes (more if you like spicy), 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp dried thyme, 1 tsp dried oregano, 2 tbls unsalted butter (optional), salt/pepper to taste. If you can let it simmer 30+ mins, I even throw a handful of pepperonis in the sauce.

My granny would make pizza for us when we would visit. She used canned biscuits for the crust, pressing them together in the bottom of a small, rimmed baking sheet. She just used canned tomato sauce, cooked crumbled hamburger and grated cheddar cheese. We loved it! I make my pizza dough in the bread machine--it is so easy. If you refrigerate the dough overnight, it improves the flavor of the crust.

I think we all love pizza but it's easy to just go to the store and get it there instead of taking the time to make it yourself with better ingredients. This looks easy, fast and delicious. I never had pizza as a kid growing up, ever! When we had our local fall fair, that is where I could eat it and developed the love of pizza. Tnx for sharing this. And just a FYI, lots of store sell pizza dough in their bakeries.

Never saw someone take the stone out of the oven to build the pizza, a bit dangerous. Before I was skillfully able to use a peel to land the pizza on the stone, I would build it on parchment paper and plop that on the hot stone in the oven. The cooked parchment comes right off after the pizza is baked. Thanks so much for your recipe, Tipper, it is wonderful to learn all about the delicious food you feed your family!

I think I wanted to cry to know there was something so delicious and I probably wouldn't have it again when I go home.
    I was probably around ten.

Wow did you bring back a wonderful memory! Saturday nights Mom would make either hamburgers or pizza. I was 7 and we had the first TV on the block! She used the Chef Boyar Dee box mix and would doctor it up some with spices. Yes it was square! Never went out to eat in those days so this was a real treat indeed😊

Your pizza recipe is very similar to mine. It was shared with me by a neighbor when we lived in Ohio. We too liked our pizza crust softer and enjoyed the “bones or outside edges soft and a bit more like homemade bread. My kitchen aid mixer was inherited from my mother in law. I have now passed it on to my daughter. She also uses the same recipe …very yellowed and spattered index card.We required cold Coca Cola to accompany our pizza night

As a Italian, born & raised in NY, the pizza capital of the US, I enjoyed watching you make pizza. Although I'm not sure heating the stone and then removing it from the oven to make the pizza on it is the most efficient or safest way to do it. I noticed the top seemed quite brown compared to the crust. I actually make mine on a pizza screen that I got at a restaurant supply store. You make the pizza directly on the screen and then put it on the bottom oven rack. After 5 minutes, I actually pull the screen out from the pizza and let it cook on the oven rack. My daughter does the same thing but she uses a stone and screen method. She lets the pizza cook enough to remove the screen and then cook on the stone the rest of the way. It's always fun to see how others make something as simple as pizza. 😊

We have a baking stone on each rack of the oven We just keep them there we noticed that for all baking needs..it really helps keep the oven at a stable temp You can use most porcelain tiles get a big rectangle Also can use that on your wood stove and cook a pizza on your wood stove Basement pizza 😂 Just have a hood Thank you for great videos Looking forward to a spring and a new garden ✌🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸 Many say u shud never use a rolling pin on pizza dough it deflates the air.. ur supposed to ..they say .. just slowly smush it out into a big blob .. Mrs Tipper you are a great story teller you touch on important emotions but you get all of the details in a nice orderly fashion No wonder Matt is proud of you 🤭✌🏻

When I make homemade pizza. For the sauce, I take a small can of tomato sauce and spread it on the dough, sprinkle salt, little bit of sugar, and italian seasoning over it, then add the cheese and toppings. It works. I've had no complaints 🙂

I made it exactly as you said, and it was so good with a soft, thin, crispy on the bottom crust. I have a life long fondness for pizza also. Growing up and living in Chicago my whole life has instilled in me my love for pizza! Deep dish, thin and crispy, thicker style, Chicago has all the varieties! They say there are two types of pizza in America, Chicago style and East coast style. Everywhere else is a variation of the two! The super hot stone and oven is definitely a tried and true old school method! Love the char on your pizza by the way, a must among us pizza connoisseurs! 😋 🍕
