Brilliant Install tutorial. I could have done mine a little differently from what I learned here. I really like the side mount bracket rather than the hood mound I presently have. Sure do like the JL programable switches. Very nice!
I loved the start of this install and the care you were taking to run the antenna co-ax, all out of sight without drilling any holes.. I was therefore shocked where you decided to mount the main body of the radio. I believe the radio is a Midland MXT275? If so, all the controls are on the mic so you could have completely hidden the small main body..There must be somewhere behind one of those kick panels it could have been secreted away? You can even buy a standard network extender cable to extend the cable to the mic....
The funny thing is, I tried to talk him into putting it out of sight. It did kind of mess up an otherwise nice instal but that's where he wanted it so that's where it went.
We planned on using a velcro mount for the radio and he changed his mind and wanted the bracket screwed in. Should have covered that detail in the video.
Wondering if you have advice on wire routing for an antenna wire from a roof rack mount? Assuming antenna is above either the driver or passenger door?
About the only thing you can do is run it through the door. The door seal will usually allow enough give to make it work. I avoid mounting them up there for that reason. Just not a good option.
A 50 watt radio pulls just under 15 amps. I'd save those 40 amps for really big stuff. You can always rewire later if it gives you problems. It would be very simple at that point.

Good job Ryan

Where did you get the bracket for antenna?
I guess we may never know..
Very good video. Thank you!
title says No Drilling involved but in the video there Is Drilling involved. oops.

Where did you get the bracket? What brand? If you use a random spacer is the bolt long enough to secure tightly?
I too wouild like to know. It needs to have a 3/4" hole. I can find brackets but they have 3/8 holes. Let me know what you did please.

If you have the 50 watt midland should you use the 40amp aux channels?

@@IronsideAdventures801 thanks!
What type of bracelet that is?
I assume you meant bracket? If so, we used something like this.
