That's the difference between the political climate of the '80s, and today. The aisle was not so wide and there was a sense of humor about things. You'd never see the Gipper call his opponents "losers" or "sad" or mock them on the podium.

Same here. Me: Army, 1982 - 1987. I went to the Reagan Library in 2022. The Saturday he passed I was working some OT in the lab at my employer at the time. When the news broke that President Reagan had passed, I shutdown the lab and headed to a restaurant to watch news coverage. RIP, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

He continued doing this until anything that remotely benefited the common man had been ruined. Then he proceeded to spend many times more than what he removed on military. Ludicrous projects like spending billions renovating obsolete WWII battleships that had no purpose and are being dismantled as we speak. He was an actor and the American people loved it.
