Back in early June, CZcams decided to recommend one of Taz's videos to me (no idea why, since I feel I am a lot older than her average audience) but I am very happy it did, because I love the content (much love for the poetry as well!). Besides the content though, I could just listen to her talk about whatever, because her accent is simply wonderful (and she has the most infectious laughter I have ever heard too)
Lastly, Taz, in the event you do see this (or anyone reading this and liked any of the films Taz has mentioned in her videos over the years), I have a feeling you would enjoy the film "Wandafuru Raifu", it's a japanese film from 1998 and it comes with subtitles.

So glad you went to Cafe Caribbean! I’m half Guyanese (West Indian) and this is the closest food has come to my nans cooking. I work in the offices opposite Spitalfields and go to Cafe Caribbean all the time the Curry Chicken and Stewed cabbage are my favs!

Wintermelon is a gourd like louffa, pumpkin, etc. It’s similar to honey dew and cucumber. It’s one of my favorites and we grow winter melon and juice it every year

“Caribbean” is such a extensive word, there are so many different cultures in the Caribbean. I’d say your typical Caribbean food would be Jamaican food and then also Puerto Rican, Dominican and Cuban food which you might find similar. But then there’s like the Central American side that’s like totally different food wise. And there’s a lot of other islands that just have completely different cultures and food. So basically is very hard to define what Caribbean Food is. There’s obviously a base of rise, and in some cases beans, a lot is spices, and they love their plátanos.

Just to share what "bilog" is, it's Filipino for circle and usually in the Philippines, we pair "dirty ice cream" (which is ice cream being sold on the streets, cheap but rly good) with a hamburger bun or any slice of white bread hehe. I'm Caribbean and yes curry goat and white rice is a good example. It has a lot of salt but you usually don't taste it a lot so maybe it wasn't cooked well. It also tastes great with rice and peas (rice and red kidney beans).

Hey Taz! Saw you on the Jolly video and had to follow. Caribbean food depends on the country but usually has African origin and either Spanish, English or Indian origin. Countries like Trinidad and Guyana have large amounts of folks with Indian origin so their curries taste like that kind of spice palate and Jamaican curries are also pretty similar to that flavor profile IMO. Jamaican Curry Powder and Indian definitely taste different from each other but there are some similarities too.
