Even on the worst days when I feel like not going to jiu jitsu training that feeling after training is priceless
The days I feel the worst are the ones I go for sure
Yeah that feeling is priceless, 2hrs of heavy training, you just want to go sleep and all the endorphines are telling you to keep training
That depends for sure, Examples: if your sick or need to just rest/sleep/take a break then by all means do so. If your just being lazy then you need to snap out of it and strive for your attainable good goals/plans.
@@andreamotta8309 endorphins?
I don't know man, I love the science behind the sport but the feeling after training just sucks. I get beat up constantly 😂
When someone’s tryna brake ur arm it’s pretty hard to think about what’s going on in your life 🤣
😂😂😂
hahahaha
Tap
That’s why it’s so addicting unlike weightlifting when you could stop whenever but you don’t wanna tap cause you don’t wanna look weak so you fight for your life
Whenever you’re on the mat there’s nothing else you can think about because the whole time you’re trying to survive and not get choked out.
The human to human contact is underrated. We live in a time where people are more lonely than ever. Even having some sweaty bloke try and submit you is good for your brain cos it recognises that you’re making some kind of connection with another human. All in sport as well so there’s a respect between you and the person you roll with
This right here☝️
@@wahubali7564 I’ve been Ill for a month so I stopped going to BJJ. Went back this week and felt amazing that I was part of a community again.
Pause bro. Sounds kinda sus
I agree, even when I've been strangled by a teenager, I'm humbled and stress free.
The mental health benefits of martial arts are undeniable. No matter how shitty my week is, i forget all my problems once i step on the mats.
It's true. When I'm on that mat there is no thought of all the other stressors in my life or the shit that gets me down, it's just me, Jiu Jitsu, and my training partners. It's when I go to leave that the problems come back
true. if i've had a bad day it can be hard to get myself to go to the gym and go train, but once i'm done, i'm always glad i went because i feel so much better.
That’s what got me in the routine of exercising 4-5 times a week at first. I always knew how good I’d feel afterward and that it wouldn’t be a waste of time. Fast forward 2 years and it’s paid off big time
Me watching this with cracked ribs and my neck that’s been sore and stiff af for a week straight 😂👀
Damn I gotta do jujitsu
Not just jiu-jitsu, but any form of training. It's almost like meditation
Maybe, but bjj is a bit different. In my experience striking feels more like running, hiit or lifting weights. But bjj when you're on the ground fighting eachother, it's a different level of intensity
Confirming this is true.. I had to recover from a break up about 1-2 months ago.. I went to TaeKwonDo (Been doing it for over 6 years) Everytime I went everything was off my mind and I was having fun and talking a lot.. As soon as I got home and on the way home non stop thinking about the girl.. Now I am better and I believe that this helped me recover faster.. we are still friends too btw
edit: i’ve been with a new girl for about a month now. She already has been making me happier since she’s my age. My ex was over a year younger than me and had psycho strict parents which was the cause of our breakup. Her parents forced us to break up so that’s why it hurt me. This girl doesn’t have strict parents it makes me feel a lot happier
What happens if your ex is your sparring partner
@@CaptainUncle1836 I am being so honest.. she goes to my TaeKwonDo too.. But she doesn’t come really anymore.. we’re good friends anyways
I've also been doing Taekwondo for coming up 6 weeks now, and I feel like it has to a degree helped with my mood because of how friendly everybody is.
Grow some balls. You kids are soft these days
@@jaws3231 bro, have a clean break. The friendzone isn’t benefiting you at all, keeps you hurt
I keep expecting for him to say…”George, Paul and Ringo and I, we love to fight it out a bit of a jam, you know? It’s just a gas, eh?”
Its hard for the rest of your day to bother you, when you are actively being strangled
😂🤣😂
thx
As a kid I did aikido (pretty bs martial art in a lot of cases ik, but they also did teach genuine self defence in real life situations and kendo too so was cool and fun). There was this idea of discipline; once you're on the mat, you're on the mat. You focus on training and nothing else whilst you're there. I really did love that, it helped with shitty weeks growing up.
i think aikido could be useful if a couple smart guys kind of reinvented the training for it but as it is it doesnt seem to work well
I love some aikido I apply it to self defense with kickboxing. Aikido just needs adjustments imo. I used a tesionnage with an elbow once and stunned my attacker (lol off topic but I kinda agree with most of this comment)
Ppl need this shit damn
The good thing with jiu jitsu is being able to go "live" without getting a concussion or banged up. If you've ever boxed, you know the sparring is usually a fight and I've seen lots of fighters decline more from the work in the gym more so in the actual fights
Shitty boxing gym then. You should be able to indicate your sparring intensity
And the feeling when the fight starts at a meet and the crowd goes silent in your head and everything kinda of slows down
Paddy have my respect....the way he stabilize his mental health and his focus in MMA are superb
That was me yesterday but with kickboxing. Felt like shit and didn’t wanna go but I knew that if I went I would feel better afterwards and if I didn’t go I’d just b lazy laying n bed and feel like shit the whole night. And like I assumed, I felt so much better afterwards. Noticed my punches and technique get better yesterday as well. Kicks too
That’s so true your forced to be in the present.
“The best training days are the days when you don’t wanna go”
- Me
Patty ain’t lying.. it’s such a good way to let shit go
I totally agree, the little amount of BJJ I did train taught me to focus more on the given situation I'm currently in and not to worry about outside stuff going on
Not just jiu jitsu that can do this iv found going for bike ride always helps me sort my head out no matter what once I'm on the bike nothing else matters beside peddling just about finding what works for you stay strong lads
Paddy talking about health is hilarious
He’s absolutely right. Even days I get submitted repeatedly, it really frees the mind
I'm from his city and I wasn't sure of him due to my own ignorance of forming an opinion with out really knowing or hearing him ...this young man is great to listen to and a inspiration..good luck paddy
So true I have anxiety problems and for 1 hour on mat it goes away just for that moment in time
So true. Its the only thing I've found that silences the noise in my brain. Its beautiful and I'm only a blue
This is very true. All the negative energy and thoughts I come in with aren't there when I leave class. The world feels at peace for me.
Love this man
Like you I have had depression for years.. I worked it out that it existed because I care to much, I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders and it breaks my heart.. You are a proper nice fella Patrick, don't ever change because you Shine so much brighter when you Care.. 🙂 👍🏻 🇬🇧
That’s called ignoring ur problems or escaping them lol
Some people rock climb, some surf, some roll around sweaty with other dudes. It's all good and serves the same purpose
I'm debating on trying it, my concern is I won't get a traditional feeling of not just physical but mental and spiritual. It's either that or Bang Muy Thai
It applies to pretty much every activity you enjoy.
I appreciate for that subtitle
Same, jiujitsu has been a life changer for me. Once your on the mats, the only weight you got to worry about is the weight of the man trying to break ur arm.
He's not wrong. Its not only bjj but if you busy yourself with a anything and you focus your mind on something, nothing else matters at that moment, your fears, insecurities and problems are forgotten about.
Thats just mental. If you are having a bad physical day, bloating, you feel stuffy and hot or fat, an hour on the mat, sweating all that toxic shit out, theres nothing like it. You feel amazing.
The Baddy, future UFC CHAMP, ALWAYS THE PEOPLE'S CHAMP!!!!
Totally agree with the man!
I hear you brother 😆
Couldn't agree more!
I need to be like this. lately I have been thinking about work when rolling.
You can tell the bottom picture is him in camp lol
That's any martial arts basically.
Yeah, let’s take Patty’s advice on health…
I think this goes for whatever your favorite sport or activity is
Totally agree shut everything from the outside world and focus on
Where's molly?
It’s the love of the game
I am an expert black belt in Ju-sit-Sue.
Completely true
For a couple of minutes he can forget he’s scouse… must be a nice for him
That how I feel about football
Jiu jitsu saved me from myself
Health benefits of tearing ligaments. Mostly everyone who rolls for a periods of time will most definitely tear something.
What a beast he’s doing bjj with boxing gloves on
Same with the gym patty
Sounds like fight club
paddy looks like Messi tbh
I really didn’t like paddy but after seeing his media he’s done out of the cage I’ve really grown to be a fan
Its a bit hard to focus on other problems when some one is trying to choke you out
It's a life saver for sure. Until you get hurt training…
It's true. When I'm hiding in some bushes watching people with my binoculars there is nothing else on my mind.
Do you take pictures?
Soo true!
Jiujitsu got me through losing my business and a divorce. I would recommend Jiujitsu to everyone. It saved my life.
I feel the same when I hit pads
dudley dursley
True I could have got submitted 50 times i still leave with a smile
but i think in and of itself the idea should be whats talked about, like the idea of a physical activity that’s rewarding that you love thats also a mental health crutch, like an ASA a hobby or a sport just any kind of character trait you can look at and be happy with and also forget what your doing and zone out in to.
Yeah, I am doing kickboxing, and I cannot workout because of a shoulder injury. Sht gets me depressed
Tell that to the immense shoulder pain I get from jiu jitsu
Mental health, sure... can I maybe talk to a BJJ guy whose joints ARENT screwed up royally?
same with yoga for me 🙏
same
Same
So true
honestly yeah iv only just started jew jitsu and it really helps clear my head. I never hold an ego and never care if I lose. should watch my videos of my training
Same with boxing.. Ring , or heavy bag. Nothing else exist
Facts
A same philosophy from kano the founder of judo
So true, the mat really makes you forget about all the shit you're dealing with off the mat 😂
Had my first ever session today done absolutely shite looks so embarrassing I just hope that’s normal I didn’t know what I was doing
30-27 Gordon
Ain’t that a fucking fact
Can get mad injuries from ju jitsu. Elbows, knees, shoulders...
I love jiu jitsu but I don’t consider it healthy 😂 maybe mentally but not physically lol
Health? 😂
It's an amazing feeling
on god
It's so expensive! That is an especially high entrance fee for most
Yea man these days even a damn gym membership is costly 😂 but ya gotta do what ya gotta do
Where i live it's 55€ a month 10 classes 1.5 hours each a month 5.5€ per class.
Back street gyms are the best all these memberships for what ??? People in there spend more time in the mirrors. Back street gyms are the best just get in train ang go home. Its 2 pound a session max
I pay 120 $ a month and can train 5 to 6 times a week hr minimum each time. Open mats usually run 2 hr.
This only works when you don’t have any real problems
It helped me cope with the loss of my child
I thought it would be more physical benefits. I always feel stiff and locked up anybody got some recommendations ?
look up the kneesovertoesguy channel
Stretch stretch stretch, not just for a few minutes either. Warm up with a little walk for 10 minutes and do stretches for 10-15 minutes at least.
@@pd-yk8kk making it a part of the morning routine, might get into yoga lol
I've started bjj and have minor injuries after every session. It's nice tho
As lewis capaldi gone to mma...
That’s like all sport or anything really that preoccupies your mind.
I have bipolar but for 1.5 hours of Muay Thai at night I do not have it. It’ll be back after the endorphins go haha. But that’s better then sitting around eating shit food and crying my life is shit.
I think it's more about passion and sport overall?
Herpes: guess you wonder where I’ve been-
(Joke)
No mat ter what.
