I lived in Peel Hall, then Woodhouse Park in the 70s and 80s. Was at Civic every week.

Born in Openshaw and grew up in Wivvy in the early 70s. Went to Haveley Hey infants and juniors. It was a great place to grow up. All the kids played out in the streets with each other, every one knew their neighbours. We were all dirt poor, and often hungry but we were happy. Loved the video, a real trip down memory lane.

Grew up on newhey road in the 70s and 80s, my parents are still there. It’s changed so much I don’t like going back there now. Had great times as a kid with other kids on the street.

Nice one.....anybody else remember Foster Brothers. I remember the old man saying one night in the mid seventies, 'Think I'll got to Foster Brothers tomorrow and get loads of clobber'....we all laughed at that and still remember it now 50 years ago.

@@Habu2 I was in the ‘old boots’ all the time. It was located facing the original indoor/outdoor market . It’s where I used to buy my vinyl records from. Boots in civic just survives with prescription medicines now. Don’t forget, we also had a 2 storey co-op and a Tescos opposite the Golden Garter along with a Timpsons and Turners and the best bakers , Shawes

@@urbanmanc How old are you urban ?....wicked memory. Ha ha will take your word for it on the prescription situation re Boots but can believe it. Yes timpsons and turners quite right. Can't quite remember Shawes ?....ex sister in law used to work in Tesco accounts upstairs and my mum worked in the Garter early 70's....Carol Webster. I remember getting gripped trying to nick an Airfix kit from Woolies

All the old buildings are disappearing one by one. After leaving junior school I hated education. Poundswick sanitarium for the mentally insane has so much to answer for. Such a great community spirit in wythenshawe back then. Everyone knew everyone else.
