You are right, people who don’t sew, don’t want to hear about our sewing adventures. They ask what did you do today? And their eyes glaze over when you tell them!
Looking forward to your patterns. Your hair is absolutely lovely and the length is very flattering. The commenter who suggested a cut may be following old rules for women of a certain age! 😉 Im grateful we live in a time where we can wear white after Labor Day and our hair any length at any age!!
I listen to my husband go through his best golf swings of the day ( I don't golf) and he wonderfully will listen to a short version of my sewing details; it's what we do with the people we love :)
Hi Steph, my ma has dementia but she is the only sewist I know, so she listens to all my sewing chatter. But I find that ( maybe because she has sewn all her life) she can still remember practical sewing. So I sit and ask her how to do something that I can do standing on my head, you know! Just so I can sit and listen to her tell me how to go about it, and see the pleasure in her eyes as she realises that she has something to give still. Anyone out there with a ma with dementia, please try it. Listening to my ma, who can’t remember who visited half an hour ago, tell me ‘of course you’ll get a much better finish if you hand baste it in first’ almost had me in tears. So hang on to your sewing friendship with your ma, Steph, you don’t when you may need it. Mims
I love this pattern.i made one for my daughter for her 29th birthday and one matching for myself using two different design fabric and she loved it! A mommy and me even though she's a grown woman now but it was fun! Love the fabric you used too. It gave me more ideas!(I used Rayon Challis...it's so comfortable and I learned the hard way it's better to wash and iron the fabric before sewing...oh dear!)
Don’t cut your hair! It is so beautiful just the way it is. I absolutely love your channel and never miss a video. Looking forward to buying your leggings pattern!!!!
I agree about the talking to a nonsewer about sewing. Ugh I really love the jacket. The fabrics you have chosen really make the pattern shine. It is amazing how you can look at a pattern envelope and think, nope not my type of pattern. Then I see you make it and model it, and I change my mind.
Thank you for your creativeness and determination to make a cute and comfy pattern! Looking forward to seeing the final product. Your hair is beautiful…I’m jealous😊
I couldn’t comment on your pattern video (watching on Alexa), but better late than never! So much to take pride on Steph, congratulations! It is so inspiring to see someone get their ideas out of their head and get them accomplished, very inspiring! I can’t congratulate you enough! Hope you the best in this new project! As always, thanks for sharing!
I love your hair... my hair is longer now than it has been in 45 years. I love the jackets and it doesn't matter about the inside. I'm all for comfort now also...I've done my time with pantyhose and heels. I had my daughter grab a pair of boots for me last year at a great sale and my grandson remarked that he never see me wear anything but flip flops which is pretty accurate even though my fee get cold in winter and I have to wear socks but they come off when I get home. Many blessings.
It is always fun to talk with like minded people. At one time I worked a job, midnight to 8:00 AM. Once a year for about 2 months work was slack. There was 3 of us on that shift. I am not really a person who loved to read, but the time allowed us to spend some time reading in between jobs. We shared the books we were reading. It was so much fun working together as many time our shared reading gave us a real laugh at tho oddest of times. Congratulations on the pattern .
Watched your video then thought ‘I don’t want you to think you should cut your hair because someone made that comment. Then……I read about thirty comments telling you how pretty your hair is (and it IS!) and had to laugh at myself wanting to reassure you to leave it long if you like it because it’s beautiful. Good luck on the pattern launch! Your enthusiasm is contagious!
Don't Cut your hair! It's so pretty and healthy looking! you are lucky to be able to wear it long. Loved seeing those 80's pictures! Big hair, jewelry, SHOULDER PADS!!! getting together with sewing friends would be totally fab! Good luck with your pattern making project. I have the same jacket pattern just waiting to be made up in something real boho.
Hey Stephanie! I am so excited for you and your pattern making venture! I worked for a designer at one time and had access to pattern making materials, fabrics, and industrial machines. I always felt like I had died and gone to heaven. I’ve always sewn, since junior high. I also love the pictures you shared of yourself from the 80’s. They really did bring back some memories! Lol. Your jewelry comment was so funny, but true! Where did all the big jewelry go?? Love watching your videos. This online sewing community is so much fun. ❤️
Enjoy your chats. I hope your pattern adventure is a lot of fun and a success. I liked the pictures of you in shorter hair. Yes cute has to be comfortable. I am not done with summer sewing but will need to put it aside and get on with fall and winter.
My hair has always been my security blanket. I am well known for my long curly hair. So when I went thru chemo and lost it all, it was the hardest part. Your hair is so pretty. Only you will know when it is time for a change. I can’t wait to purchase your pattern. Finally, someone who understands and appreciates cute and comfy. Talk about cute…when you model and twirl, it is so adorable! I smile every time.
I think it’s great that you’re following your desire to create patterns😊. It’s so nice that you have people around you that you can talk about sewing. As for cutting your hair, I’ve had my hair long and short and a few years ago I just came to the conclusion that I just feel the most like me with longer hair even though there seems to be this idea that as you get older you should have short hair.
Stephanie it’s amazing what you are doing with making a pattern and selling it!!!! I’m so impressed, you are definitely a talented woman! I would be so overwhelmed doing that. But I can sew and I love it! I’m hacking the Harlene dungarees into a dungaree dress. Hoping it turns out 🤗
Go you! Sounds like things are really coming together. That is so amazing! And I've gotten that same comment on cutting my hair. I've had long hair my entire life - virtually zero chance of chopping it all off. You know what you like and what looks good on you - so you do you. That's the most important thing, especially when it comes to constructive criticism! In the end you have to be happy with it. ❤️
Hi Jen, lol. I’ve had every length and almost every color at some point. I can’t see ever having short again either. But I might let her take a few inches off the back. Every time I tell her I want more layers, she says it’s too long for that...so we’ll see. 🤷🏼♀️. It’s probably just the changing season. I’m ready for change!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I agree with you, I have a sister (actually I have 6 sisters), but one that doesn’t like long hair, and for as long as I can remember she is constantly telling all my Sisters that they “need” to cut their hair? What’s that even about? Jen, I love your videos, keep up the great work 💞💖💞
@@I_sew_slow Its usually the people that don't look good with long hair or can't grow theirs... I look horrible with short hair so I will always have to have hair on the longer side!
Can't wait to purchase your patterns! Comfort is the name of the game at this age but would have no idea how to alter a pattern to make it what I want. And your hair is gorgeous and that style is lovely on you!
It's so funny you mentioned talking to your Mom about sewing. I just got off the phone with my sewist mom, and we spent 45 minutes discussing making buttonholes, and how to do them "old-school" style vs. using a fancy new-fangled machine!
I have had that 8172 for ages and now you have motivated me to actually find some beautiful fabric and make it. Are you going to do full bust options in your patterns? I'm so with you on Cute and Comfortable :) Looking towards spring (I'm in NZ). Yes I do wish we could all gt in a room, I have no one except you guys to talk sewing with. XX
Hi, thank you for your video. Great to hear you talking. I've just completed a hot pink full circle skirt, which should have been straight forward but was problematic. Main problem was the width of the fabric, too narrow. However, I put my thinking cap on, and made the front three pieces(instead of one) and the back four (instead of two). I decided to run the zip up into the waistband therefore eliminating a button closure. It is hanging on my manequin so the hem can drop on the bias. I have enough fabric to make a little fitted top, which mirrors your comment about two pieces looking like a dress, that I can mix and match. Heather, New Zealand x 🧵
Stephanie, I just love your personality you are so much fun. please don't cut your hair it looks great the way it is, but you do what makes you feel good. Stephanie good luck with the new adventure.
I laughed!! I still wear pantyhose, but only for super special occasions where I'm wearing a short skirt or dress, or tights in the winter if I'm going to work. I was a bridesmaid about 12 years ago and was the only one wearing pantyhose - but I was also the only one who didn't get blisters from our cheap dye to match shoes!
Hi Stephanie, I’m looking forward to Spring and Summer and have had enough of winter as I live in Western Australia. In the past few weeks I’ve been making some tops and have quite a lot of makes planned for summer.
Love this pattern . Congratulations on your new venture with drafting and marketing your own patterns. Have you named your pattern brand ( you might have told us, please remind me)? Have you thought of hacks we can do to to the dress? Love a good sew along too! 😊
I cannot wait till your pattern is released! I love your hair I have always been jealous of it but do what makes you happy! I’m going to have to make this jacket I have had for a long time I couldn’t decide if I liked it but it turn out so cute for you!
Stephanie, I’m so excited for you 🎉 I can hardly wait for you to bring out your pattern. I think your hair is beautiful 💞 I went through chemo and it really did a number on my hair (and bones), I now wear my hair pulled back in a braid (not my choice), I think your hair always looks lovely, if you’re ready to cut it then cut it, but if you’re doing it because someone thought it was their place to tell you what you should do with your own hair?! I would say, No! Either way do what you want to do 💞💖💞 I hope you have a great weekend 💞💖💞
I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’m so sorry you have gone through chemo too - I can relate having been on that journey three times. Chemo changed me forever too (but we’re still here, thank goodness 😊) xxx
I have to laugh I can’t believe what you just talked about about jumping off a cliff etc. I am the same way! Except you are vocal about it ! I just wonder if I’m just weird :). I bought material in a knit because I couldn’t find the material what it was calling for where I live it will be in two different prints. So I will see how that will work! Have a great week.
Stephanie I love your videos and chanel You are just so much fun Love your Jacket I don't think that it matters that its not two sided That is good but I don't think that you can't use others Its a good one I do remember when you used to get your colors done I actually had mine done way back when I am a summer and my sister color pallet is a winter It makes such a difference to wear the right colors for your skin tone You looked amazing with your shorter big hair back then so trendy of the times But you mentioned cutting your hair now I say Yes go for it A nice angled bob shorter at the back with a bit of layering any shorter style why not You have beautiful hair Worse case scenario it will grow back Good for you going ahead with the pattern making Do you have to get pattens or any kind of registration so that noone steals your ideas Does that make sense I thought that you have to get any business Registered so big corporations can't steal your ideas ? Good luck with the journey Can't wait to see the new hairdo 😉 It would be great to get together! Happy sewing Can't wait for your next video God bless
Hi Stephanie, I haven't sewn a garment in years, for the most part I am a quilter. I absolutely love all the outfits you've sewn and they all look fabulous on you - so I'm kind of jealous. Your enthusiasm is rubbing off on me. I've got to try to sew that pattern - I've just got to - LOL. Enjoyed that you mentioned fashion in the 80's, the big hair, clunky jewelry and those uncomfortable pantyhose - remember LEggs ? Looking forward to your next video. Take care.
Love the top and intend to sew it ASAP, already have the fabric purchased for it. I would like to see a variation of it with 3/4 bell sleeves! I’ll be one of your first customers in your Etsy store for your custom patterns as I’m all about comfort and just love most all your makes. NL 6449 being one of my absolute faves (would like to see it with a bell sleeve as well) and NL 6529😬 Happy sewing 🧵 🪡
Hi your jacket is beautiful. I made the same pattern a couple of years ago in a cotton. Unfortunately it didn't work and didn't fall properly. You have inspired me to make it again using a knit fabric.
I'm SO excited for you and your pattern launch - it's so awesome that you're just jumping in! 🧵I made that Simplicity jacket last year. It's a fun way to color block or pattern mix!! Unless you're going to be flashing people, I don't think it matters if the fabric is nice on the inside for this pattern 🤣 🧵 I've always been into clothes as well. I work in corporate retail and have always worked in fashion. I still love the 80's 🤣 I work remote now - so I'm totally into cute and comfy 100% !! 🧵 I LOVE your hair! It's so beautiful. But you should do what YOU like, not what anyone else likes. If you want to go shorter, then do it. There are apps that you can "test" a hairstyle on your photo so you can see if you would like it! Do that before chopping your hair, just in case 😊
I had that jacket pattern free from a magazine a while ago so must give it a try! The only reason someone has suggested for you to cut your hair must be due to pure envy as your hair is truly beautiful and it suits you. It’s your hair and if you chose to change style that’s for you to decide!! I too must check my boots before I get tempted with all these new styles! Thanks as ever for your reviews x
Stephanie, I cut my hair because my hair stylist was really pushing me to do it. I hate it. Just cut it a little and only if you want to. I don’t wear dresses at all anymore because I miss panty hose. 🤣 I am trying a new pattern from Itch to Stitch right now. Fitting is so hard for me so I end up doing multiple muslins! Great to spend some time with you.
I only recently found your channel, but I already feel like I’m sitting across the table from you! Did you see me nodding my head when you asked questions, or my expression of near horror 😳 when you spoke of cutting your hair? 🤣
Stephanie - if you ever need a pattern tester I would love to sew your patterns! BTW - have you seen the awesome serger class Sweet Red Poppy just released? I serge quite a bit but think I’m going to take the class anyways as it looks really fun and comes with an extensive e-book.
Hi Stephanie! Love that you put your pattern number on the title. I save all the patterns I want to collect, and it’s so nice when I have the number right away! What about lining the jacket with the same material or even a solid color? Why don’t you ask your stylist to do a more beachy curl, then you don’t have to cut your hair. Your hair is beautiful! So, just leave like 2 inches of the ends out of the curling iron, and don’t leave the iron on so long… more relaxed look. Maybe you might like it?
I’ve made that wrap pattern twice and disliked it both times ~ but I love yours. I think the fabric I used just wasn’t right. It wasn’t flowy enough. I’m determined to make it one more time!
Nooo, don’t cut your hair 💇♀️ I love it long❤️ I cut mine several years ago and so regret it. Now it won’t grow 😢 On another note. I Can’t wait to see your pattern ❤️
Hi Tina, just pick something somewhat light and silky. I have a few pieces like this and I had no idea what to make with it. This works with something that drapes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
No, don't cut your hair! It's beautiful! Or do it because you want to, not because of a comment. You can always cut your hair, 5 minutes. But it takes months/years to grow. Btw, I don't sew. lol. but I love your conversation anyway. I'm thinking of starting. I guess there are some beginner videos, but I love your personality, I wish you would start a beginners series :)
I have zero sewing friends. Therefore, I watch tons of YT videos - LOL! Btw, you said your favorite leggings fabric has to have 100% stretch both ways. Where in the world does that exist? I have looked and looked so, please, share your source. 😎
Nooooo! Don’t cut your hair Stephanie - it’s beautiful and thick and glossy. You have no reason to cut off such healthy hair. It would be different if it had thinned or any other problem we women get along life’s way but keep your beautiful hair as long as you can xxx
Don't cut your hair! It looks lovely. Last time I went to the hairdressers, he cut a lot off and I hate it. Back to growing it out now. If you do cut, maybe don't do anything too drastic.
Good gravy don’t cut the hair. People think since we are older we need short hair. My hair is about your length and it was ‘so cute’ when it was short, but I’m 64 and I don’t want to be cute. I want long white hair, and that’s what’s going on. Don’t cut the hair!
@@barbarawarner4645 😊 Me too, Barbara. During lockdown I’ve let mine grow out to its natural silver-blond color, past my shoulders. I’m 69, & I really like being able to just pull it up if I don’t want to mess around with it.
Yes, cut your hair. Seeing that picture of you in the blue suit convinces me. A shorter style would frame your pretty face instead of the long hair dragging your face down.
I get you sister! My boyfriend sometimes says, "Do you realize that you have been talking about fabric for one whole hour? Can we talk about something else?"
Nooooooo! Please don't cut your hair. Its gorgeous! Women "of a certain age" of which I am as well, are always told to have short hair because long hair ages us. I have long gorgeous hair like yours and I love it that we are bucking convention and look good doing it. Just like being told we aren't supposed to wear florals. Well I'm going to wear florals forever and look good doing that too.

That is good but I don't think that you can't use others
Its a good one
I do remember when you used to get your colors done
I actually had mine done way back when I am a summer and my sister color pallet is a winter
It makes such a difference to wear the right colors for your skin tone
You looked amazing with your shorter big hair back then so trendy of the times
But you mentioned cutting your hair now I say Yes go for it
A nice angled bob shorter at the back with a bit of layering any shorter style why not
You have beautiful hair
Worse case scenario it will grow back
Good for you going ahead with the pattern making
Do you have to get pattens or any kind of registration so that noone steals your ideas
Does that make sense
I thought that you have to get any business
Registered so big corporations can't steal your ideas ?
Good luck with the journey
Can't wait to see the new hairdo 😉
It would be great to get together!
Happy sewing
Can't wait for your next video
God bless
Hi Stephanie, I haven't sewn a garment in years, for the most part I am a quilter. I absolutely love all the outfits you've sewn and they all look fabulous on you - so I'm kind of jealous. Your enthusiasm is rubbing off on me. I've got to try to sew that pattern - I've just got to - LOL. Enjoyed that you mentioned fashion in the 80's, the big hair, clunky jewelry and those uncomfortable pantyhose - remember LEggs ? Looking forward to your next video. Take care.
Oh my….I too was thinking of Leggs panty hose! They went from the plastic egg to a box. So disappointing. Lol
You are so dang adorable :)
Cute and comfy rules!!!
Stephanie, do not cut your hair it’s beautiful! Love your videos!
Hey! I love your hair. If it were mine I would not cut it. But I do understand wanting a change sometimes.
Did you need to make adj on pattern 8172. Thanks for sharing your career background 🥰
Hi Del, nope, just made it according to my size. Very easy!
@@FarrellFocus thanks I am going to order the pattern.
I love your cover up. What view did you make? What is the off white on the inside?
You have beautiful hair and you’re very young looking so wear it the way you want.
I’ve made that wrap pattern twice and disliked it both times ~ but I love yours. I think the fabric I used just wasn’t right. It wasn’t flowy enough. I’m determined to make it one more time!
Im right there with you on the cute and comfortable.
Nooo, don’t cut your hair 💇♀️ I love it long❤️ I cut mine several years ago and so regret it. Now it won’t grow 😢 On another note. I Can’t wait to see your pattern ❤️
I ran out and bought that Simplicity pattern last week when Joann’s had them for 99 cents. What kind of fabric did you use? I love them both.
Hi Tina, just pick something somewhat light and silky. I have a few pieces like this and I had no idea what to make with it. This works with something that drapes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Me too!
Cute & Comfy should be your pattern name! 🙂
Farrell fashion!!
I have zero sewing friends. Therefore, I watch tons of YT videos - LOL! Btw, you said your favorite leggings fabric has to have 100% stretch both ways. Where in the world does that exist? I have looked and looked so, please, share your source. 😎
Are you going to have testers, to test your patterns before you market them.
Are you having pattern testers?
you need to put on the pattern envelope "Cute & Comfortable"
Nooooo! Don’t cut your hair Stephanie - it’s beautiful and thick and glossy. You have no reason to cut off such healthy hair. It would be different if it had thinned or any other problem we women get along life’s way but keep your beautiful hair as long as you can xxx
You look great with long hair plus if you cut your hair too short no ponytail anyway I like your hair
Is anyone going to Beta test the pattern? You should do a meet-up in your area for US, your new sewing friends.
What is the pattern number and name?
No don’t cut your hair! I’m responding late so I hope you haven’t cut your hair. It is gorgeous!
Don't cut your hair! It looks lovely. Last time I went to the hairdressers, he cut a lot off and I hate it. Back to growing it out now. If you do cut, maybe don't do anything too drastic.
No! Don’t cut your hair! It’s beautiful and short hair makes women look older in my opinion!
Your hair is beautiful. Don’t cut it.
Good gravy don’t cut the hair. People think since we are older we need short hair. My hair is about your length and it was ‘so cute’ when it was short, but I’m 64 and I don’t want to be cute. I want long white hair, and that’s what’s going on. Don’t cut the hair!
I’m 72 with long hair. Short hair is too much work. It’s “Surfer Girl” forever for me.
Noooo....don't jump off a cliff or cut your beautiful hair!!!
Don’t cut your hair unless you really want too.
Maybe if you think of it as feedback on your pattern not criticism. There might be some tweeks someone else finds that may not have stood out to you.
My suggestion; don’t cut your hair !! It ispretty
