I know, I made one with 4 computer fans that were lying around from old pcs and a mini yeti cooler that has seen better days but works. running on 8 aa batteries at 12 volts. I run mine with dry ice and use it when camping and it gets a tent ice cold in 80 degree nights in FL. Mine is by no means pretty but it is functional and will run for about 12 hours, plenty of time for sleeping. And if you need a personal heater, and old hair dryer will be hotter than anything!

Have you considered trying hot (not boiling, since that might result in steam related issues, I dunno) water for the heating? I mean, it's fine to have ice and ice water in the reservoir, so why not warm/hot water? It's capable of holding water, and it's capable of withstanding some heat (in the form of air activated warmers), so it's something to consider trying, even if it's not officially supported.
Similarly, gel packs that you can heat in the microwave are an option.

I have bought a few personal cooling devices over the years. None have enough airflow to produce any real cooling effect. Having worked a lot of outdoor events in the heat of the summer, the best and cheapest solution is a spray bottle of water I keep in my cooler. I periodically spray my face and arms and put a cooling towel around my neck. Works great! I also keep extra towels in the cooler so I can change them out. The only con is you might get a little bit wet, but who cares if you’re outside a while.

If you put water on the thermos and put it on the freezer the you’ll get a solid piece of ice then put the cap on and turn it on ?

What about using dry ice? I would be curious to know how much cooler as well as how much shorter/longer the runtime could be if you used dry ice in one. Not that I'd suggest actually using it normally that way, just an idle curiosity.

For the price point it really should have had a heating element, this is literally a cup with a fan. I am also interested to know if you put salt on the ice does it get cooler?

You should do a comparison review with dry ice compared with normal ice and see if it makes much of a difference.

  • @kylaluv8453

I wonder if you used a single solid ice chunk if it would last longer, not .let so fast due to less surface to air contact.
Secondly, for 150+ it doesn't seem to be worth it when a box fan and a misting bottle works really well. At least in AZ.

With those types of cups if you chill the cup in the freezer overnight with water in the cup so it's one frozen block might help or just the chilled cup with ice cubes will hold cold better then warm cup with ice

You're better off getting the air conditioning fixed in your Mustang. My aunt's old 2000 Dodge Intrepid had working air conditioning that annihilated the heat out of the interior until it was wrecked from a red light runner pulling in front of it.

I bought this for my nephew and I for hot days out on our kayaks fishing. I thought I could put it in the cup holder and point the hose over to our face and be a bit cooled off on our trips. I even bought a big growler to keep extra ice it to replace it out. It just doesn't work well. I think maybe a stronger fan or something. I returned them both.
