$159?! You can buy a small ac unit and a little heater!!!!
True that
Exactly!
Amen to that!!
I knew someone would point this out in the comments before I did... Walmart AC unit cost 100$ and a small heater 20$ .. and even cheaper if you shop around
This thing costs more than $159 if you want it to heat.
That is WAY to expensive for something you can build under 8$
that fan sounds way weak
like a bubba cup and a infiltrator for an air mattress
Those cups are at Walmart for $12 and a fan that size is $5-$9
I know, I made one with 4 computer fans that were lying around from old pcs and a mini yeti cooler that has seen better days but works. running on 8 aa batteries at 12 volts. I run mine with dry ice and use it when camping and it gets a tent ice cold in 80 degree nights in FL. Mine is by no means pretty but it is functional and will run for about 12 hours, plenty of time for sleeping. And if you need a personal heater, and old hair dryer will be hotter than anything!
@@jefrey5578 styrofoam cooler with a bildge fan is what I use. It'll hold two bags of ice and your drinks lol
I just can't see a cup with a fan on it being worth $159
You haven't seen a Kiss fan with a Kiss cup!!!
agreed
i was thinking of putting a fan on a cup but me and my brother went camping and the pump for a air matres we put ice in a ice boxe cut holse put the pump in there and it worked it did not cool the cabin but it was like 90"
And it's not even an insulated cup like a Yeti! The ice has to be replenished every 20 minutes? Forget it!
Yvonne even if the cup was insulated you’re pumping warm ambient air into it. The ice is gonna melt the same speed
Sorry but at $159 I think the counterfeiters are more ethical than this company
$159!!! I was thinking $29.99. Wow.
@@MarceloVeronezzi 99 bucks is even ridiculous for this, you could make something similar with a 2 dollar styrofoam cooler filled with ice and a usb fan.
I agree the product is over priced but counterfeiting is never ethical.
@@saltydog9185 it's not ethical to sell it $159 either.
Massimo Tava This thing could make breakfast and suck me off and I still wouldn’t give $30 for it
For $159 better cool that car to be cold enough to store food in lol
Oh cool! A tumbler with a blower motor!
What? $150? Nevermind!
He said the fakes where $50. Even at that price point its overpriced by at least double.
for $150 this thing is junk. thank you for letting us know.
Hahaha nop. thats funny..
$159?! You could buy a brand new full sized portable air conditioner for that much!!
Link one of those. All the portable AC devices around where I live are 400 USD.
Window units are less expensive. I own one, and it works great
Just paid 549CAD for mine and it’s only 7000btu
No you can't lol. I do HVAC and plumbing and you can easily get a small window unit for that price, but not a real portable one, which I advice against anyway. The whole point of an a/c unit is to take humidity out of the air, and portable units put more humidity in the air.
@@npholmes09 portable units are still able to dehumidify a room, the downside is that the condenser fan pulls the air in the room, and blows it out the window/vent, which is like running the AC and exhaust fan at the same time
Thanks for showing us to save $159.00.
A cup of ice cubes aint gonna compete with the sun no matter what you do.
I think that you were a bit too favorable for this overpriced junk.
Even the fake ones cost too much for just being an insulated cup and small battery powered fan.
He was trying not to disrespect the company.
@@deedless77 He bought his own product, there is no reason to be gentle with his words. Obviously you shouldn't curse them out, as that's unprofessional and would lose him potential sponsors/advertisers, but theres one thing that reviewers need to do, be honest and open about your opinions of a product, and this is overpriced junk.
@@__aceofspades I do believe he made it very clear it was ineffective without being rude about it, junk is a personal opinion.
I have never seen one of these before. During the intro I looked closely at it and thought to myself “that looks like it’s just a giant travel mug with a fan on top.”
I was right. Totally not worth the price tag.
ms_enj and the giant travel mug works best if you fill it hot (or cold) water first to warm or cool the vacuum space.
$159 for a $5 fan and a $5 cup? There is one born every minute...... If they sell enough of them to stay in business.
They should just sell the lids... Those cups are already everywhere... It'd be cheaper.
That's actually a very good point.
In under 5 minutes I realized this is a useless piece of equipment.
This video was 15 minutes longer than it should have been.
As soon as I saw it, I knew this wasn't worth $159
Soon as I read the title I knew based on the price alone!
@@CommodoreFan64 That is not reality, at that price point you could believe that maybe they have something and stay to investigate, then the truth dawns.
@@grahamjohnson4702 the price point, and the picture of what looks to be a freaking $5 coffee mug I knew it was junk, no need to waste my time with an "investigation" of an overprice BS product, that's fact, and reality!
you could almost buy a small window air conditioner and a space heater for about 250 or less
I was going to say the same! That thing is worth say $14.99??
You can get little window units for about $100, and electric heaters for $25.
5k BTU LG window unit cost me $139 @ Home Depot this week
@@lieselgruseuiklkyukkkjhhbj288 I wouldnt even buy that thing if it were $5. you can tell it wouldnt change the temp of a room
Almost buy huh...
A large metal glass with a fan attached to the top? Sure the knockoffs are a con, but $150 in my opinion is a con too! I'll pass.
I think the product is more unethical than the counterfiets
The counterfeiters are far more ethical.
James I would really like to see you do a review on all the different mosquito repellent devices. Like I know thermacell has a product out now.
It made me laugh when he said "you can press it down to about 7 inches or so" and flicked it. I'm a giant child.
Always enjoy your reviews! Keep up the good work!!
Big fan of your videos James. I enjoy all of them. Keep it up!
I hope you return this and get your money back because charging 159$ for this is theft.
"You're getting a junky cheap counterfeit!"
As opposed to the junky overpriced cheaply made real one 😂😂😂😂😂😂
probably will rust
Whaaaaaat, you mean the fake one doesn’t work as well as the real one? So how much worse can it be?
Trust me I bought the fake one of course I didn't know it was a knock off. The fake is horrible not even worth the $39.99. This real one sounds better but for $159 no way
Love the video. Always looking forward to the next release
Love your humour and sarcasm lately in recent vids this new style just tickles me pink! lol I laughed so hard during recent can opener and kitchen gadgets vids
For 159.00 you can buy an Airline ticket to Hawaii for warm or Alaska for cold.
I'd rather spend $120 on a window air conditioner instead of the useless cup.
It is 1:30am and I am watching a review of a product that probably won’t even be available in my country. Keep up the good work! 😂
The Heisenberg of tv products 🤙🔥
Would dry ice work better? Pc fan 9v and a tumbler cup.
Window air conditioner is WAY better.
Another product I don't have to buy to enjoy. Thank you. Great reviews.
Love it when Vivian tries and Freakin reviews test the same products!
Me too! But I think Vivian bought a fake one from Wish. It's good to know the "real" model is just as crappy as the "fake".
$160 for that? Sheesh..... P.T. Barnum must be their patron saint lol
I was wondering about this product, thanks for sharing.
Your single product reviews are more interesting than comparison ones. Feels like you thoroughly/creatively test the products and one can rely on your final opinion
Well you got a $160 ozark trail cup out of it..lol
And the best CZcams comment of the week goes to....
Bloodbath Clown! Congratulations!
James... Tell him what he's won.
How does this compare to the Artic Air Ultra, when sitting by the computer?
By the way try adding some salt to the ice, it should increase cooling significantly with the only downside being that it probably hurts the duration of the cooling effect.
does it really matter?
it cost more than triple of the artic price,i am sure it does not cool 3 times better
They use the same method of cooling, adding humidity to the air to feel cool. This product will likely last longer due to the insulation, and have a more direct airflow, but the Artic would be better for like a tiny room like a bathroom lol. Both are junk compared to real AC and larger swamp coolers
@@abattleborn There's no way, because you can put ice in the acrtic air thing too. This is just a way worse version of that. Basically a tumblr and a small fan. It's a $10 pos.
Great review.
I'm in the southeast US. It was stifling yesterday during the day and then it rained last night and the storm knocked out power for 6 hours. I was able to fall asleep thanks to a 5 inch $10 battery powered fan that kept me cool. I have a second one that runs on batteries or USB, so I can plug it into a power bank instead of using disposable batteries. Also a 5 inch fan, also $10.
I'm sorry but why in the f**k is that $159? Looks like it is worth about $10. You can buy an actual air conditioner cheaper! Still a great video but no way I would buy it.
Yeah, you can buy a 5,000 BTU GE window air conditioner unit only for $130 instead.
@@MinecraftPro97k can you send a link? Otherwise it's just an opinion..
Keep the vids coming, James, you da man, Love From Malaysia
Ice, or $.99 hand warmers, in a yeti mug, with a fan on top... 😂
Technology has truly come to an apex...
Just stick a computer fan over a thermo cup I bet it will do the same 🤣🤣🤣
You are the best reviewer on CZcams! Subscribed without regret!!!
Thank you for captioning the temperature in Celsius when you mention it in Fahrenheit. It's just a little thing, but it's appreciated.
Sincerely, a Canadian.
P.S.> Wow, Las Vegas is HOT.
Thanks for the review. I likely would not purchase it at 160 bucks, but does the heat work without the hose attached? And do you plan to purchase the heat packets from the company to review them?
159$! I would have guessed 40 at most and that's being generous, it appears to be a insulated thermos with a fan lid attachment. They need to do some major overhauls with this product to justify price. You can buy a portable fan mister for 5$ and it can slightly cool your face as well.
I'm just binge watching up in here, but he's just so wholesome and precious I love him
try filling it with ice and like half a cup of cold water and see if that makes any difference
That would make it worse. The air gets cool, because it flows around the ice. The surface area of water would be much lower than a handful of ice all stacked together, thus the air wouldn't get as cool.
There is no way a handful of ice cubes can compete with the sun.
Did you test it plugged in to a usb? I wonder if that gives the blower a little more juice.
Great review as always James! Always a good time seeing the advertised vs. reality test you put these items through. Some are so off the wall that it makes you think "Do people really buy these?" lol. I busted out laughing when you had it at your computer, that doesn't look suspicious at all, lol.
@freakin reviews Do you think adding a piece of dry ice at the bottom would keep the ice FROZEN, longer?
Have you considered trying hot (not boiling, since that might result in steam related issues, I dunno) water for the heating? I mean, it's fine to have ice and ice water in the reservoir, so why not warm/hot water? It's capable of holding water, and it's capable of withstanding some heat (in the form of air activated warmers), so it's something to consider trying, even if it's not officially supported.
Similarly, gel packs that you can heat in the microwave are an option.
At 12:00, love the new setup! Only thing missing is more Bailey!
For $159, you can buy a whole portable AC. THAT'S some bulllshit.🙄 They had the audacity to make it expensive.🤦🏾
Probably marketing scheme. Sometimes people will buy things just because of the price.
I got a window air conditioner with the money
@@MinecraftPro97k LOL. RIGHT
@@jmfia2391
No kidding, my window air conditioners still works!!! In fact, I was crazy enough to also run it during the winter months!!! Even though in the state of Texas, it did still get hot enough for me to run it in December
Can you add salt to the ice to make it colder? Or is that bad for it
Would filling it with dry ice make it more effective?
James I'm a valet driver here in Vegas I need something to help me keep cool, do you have any recommendations?
I wondering if the lid fix other metal tumbler cup? That would be a plus if you can just buy the lid and put it any metal tumbler cup like ozark or Yeti.
Would the temperature drop more if you use dry ice?
you just look at it and realise its going to be junk in 2 seconds.. Better used as a thermos.
Hey freakin' reviews, love the channel. And would love to see you try best Bluetooth earbuds, cheapest to high dollar ones. Keep the good work!
What if you used hot water instead? Would that produce more heat
I'm curious if you add salt to the ice, would it be cooler?
Can you test is with dry ice or liquid nitrogen I just want to know the cooling you get from it please and thank you.
Add salt to the ice to make it colder
James, if you add salt to the ice, would it get colder? 🤔
I have bought a few personal cooling devices over the years. None have enough airflow to produce any real cooling effect. Having worked a lot of outdoor events in the heat of the summer, the best and cheapest solution is a spray bottle of water I keep in my cooler. I periodically spray my face and arms and put a cooling towel around my neck. Works great! I also keep extra towels in the cooler so I can change them out. The only con is you might get a little bit wet, but who cares if you’re outside a while.
I wonder if dry ice can be used and if it would be cooler?
If you put water on the thermos and put it on the freezer the you’ll get a solid piece of ice then put the cap on and turn it on ?
Love the Celsius conversions!!
What about using dry ice? I would be curious to know how much cooler as well as how much shorter/longer the runtime could be if you used dry ice in one. Not that I'd suggest actually using it normally that way, just an idle curiosity.
For the price point it really should have had a heating element, this is literally a cup with a fan. I am also interested to know if you put salt on the ice does it get cooler?
For the cooling feature have you ever thought about putting the bottom of the unit in a freezer before putting ice in it
I wonder how well and how long it would work with dry ice. 🤔
You should do a comparison review with dry ice compared with normal ice and see if it makes much of a difference.
Not even worth $25 IMO.
I wonder if you used a single solid ice chunk if it would last longer, not .let so fast due to less surface to air contact.
Secondly, for 150+ it doesn't seem to be worth it when a box fan and a misting bottle works really well. At least in AZ.
With those types of cups if you chill the cup in the freezer overnight with water in the cup so it's one frozen block might help or just the chilled cup with ice cubes will hold cold better then warm cup with ice
Could you try it with dry ice?
What was the USB port for? I was worried until you push it UP your teeshirt😁
Could you test it with dry ice?
Is the device basically just a fancy Yeti lid?
Thank you for another honest review; I know I can trust you because you spend your own money! I appreciate the warning about the counterfeits out there since we are all looking to save some cash.
I see this lil yeti tumbler making the worst of 2019 list!! Glad I didn't get one for my mustang convertible with the broken AC thanks James for another great review!
You're better off getting the air conditioning fixed in your Mustang. My aunt's old 2000 Dodge Intrepid had working air conditioning that annihilated the heat out of the interior until it was wrecked from a red light runner pulling in front of it.
can you use dryice in it?
I bought this for my nephew and I for hot days out on our kayaks fishing. I thought I could put it in the cup holder and point the hose over to our face and be a bit cooled off on our trips. I even bought a big growler to keep extra ice it to replace it out. It just doesn't work well. I think maybe a stronger fan or something. I returned them both.
I wonder if the warming feature would be any better if you tried boiling water ice cubes.
Is that a dry heat? Because Nebraska 105* F is better than Florida 90* F because of humidity.
Yes the humidity is usually under 10% here.
Yea it sucks I'm in Texas and the humidity around here has been hitting 80% with an average of 100°
Here in SC it gets 110 with 80% humidity. It's hell some days!
The heating would do better putting your coffee in it
or like a humidifier
Is the arctic air better?
i would've liked to see how it changed the car temp but still a great video as always.
Hey at least it's not Gillette
That's true.
Do you even need ice? i have a big fan i used when it was 33C/91.4F and it was fine, although if i stopped using it my face would stay even hotter than without a fan, so i would need to use it untill it's not hot anymore.
Which is better? this or 4 arctic air's?
Great video!
You said a con was that it runs off batteries but I thought you said it also ran off USB but I didn't see you try it
Your videos are great, go to bed watching most nights lol
12:10 LOL almost peed myself laughing. "This doesn't look suspicious, does it?"
11:50 oh boy. I can't lie its one the air fans u test it I might get the Arctic Air Ultra u did it this year so I'm going get one asap :D. Great Review by the way.
