I started crocheting 50 years ago, when I was 5 years old - my Nana taught me. A pattern I was looking at today referenced a "hbhdc" stitch I'd never seen before and when I looked in their key, their instructions made no sense, so I came to CZcams for help & found your awesomely helpful video. Thank you for getting straight to the point, showing very well how to make what seems to me to be an incredibly easy yet cute stitch, and whoever voted down your video either expected too much or can't be serious. In my opinion, the pattern I read failed to include a couple of YOs and worded the instructions poorly.

I'm always in the market to learn new stitches and I absolutely love this one, but I do prefer the double crochet version better. I only worked a sample piece using a 6mm hook and its really too thick for my taste so when I do a project using this stitch, will use a bigger hook. So happy I found you!! Thanks!

No this is not a half double crochet stitch, it’s a Herringbone half double crochet stitch, worked differently than the hdc.
