I agree that the Stone's version is great, but Prince adds...something to his covers that always makes it more interesting. Like his solo for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the RRHOF. He stayed true to the essence of the song structure, but added that "Prince" thing that took it to another level.
Were you there too. When he spun around and his rain coat opened to reveal nothing but purple speedo's type briefs. That's when all the long hair hippies in the crowd started throwing all kinds of crap on stage. I saw fruits, shoes, and a transistor radio fly towards the stage and that's when they called it quits. First concert ever for me.

When will people learn that playing music isn't a contest? It's not about who plays better than who. Long before he became famous, the Stones took Prince on tour with them and even though he didn't the warmest of receptions from the audience, I think it showed that the Stones were fans of his long before most of us even knew who he was, and this as well as other Stones covers he's done shows that Prince was a fan of theirs as well. Stop with the goddamn American Idol mentality!
Your right! They put him on the bill as the opening act and gave him exposure to the rock audience. Too bad they didn’t get it. But he showed them all by becoming huge anyway!
Love it. He takes the funkiest Stones song and makes it legitimately funky. I have heard other versions of him playing this song, one with Sting and Ron Wood. The vocal is perfect for him. He holds down Mick & Keith’s parts at the same time effortlessly. This is why we were shocked to find out he was human.
In the late 70's, Prince opened for the Rolling Stones and they booed him off the stage. He was ahead of the times so he's established now and taunts the stones with this song or did Rest In Paradise bro!!
Southern drawl ya'll prince cud mimic bt was too classy to stay at that level ppl r feared of being different i walk down a street going the other way from the crowds unless its to a prince show
Miss you is a Stones song but hardly captures their sound. It's one of the few disco style tracks they released. Not saying Prince couldn't have mastered their sound because that boy could play anything. But this tune is hardly rock n roll. For sure he certainly did sprinkle some Prince funk on this track
This has always been one of my favorite Stones songs. Never thought I would like to hear it by anyone else. Damn, wish I could have been there. This will show all those assholes that threw things at him when he opened for the stones just how far he has come on his own. Love it.
Never has there been such an artist that can do someone else's music and make it even BETTER/FUNKIER! So sad he's gone ... and yet still I find another song of his I hadn't heard before. WHY does radio/DJ's continue to overlook his music?
@desktopdina296: His catalog is so extensive that it's it's hard to play all of his hidden gems from his treasure chest of music. I don't if that person is still with us to do anything like that anymore. But YT has a lot of his jewels up here.

No disrespect to them, but if I were the Stones, I'd have found it difficult to play any of the songs he covered, especially this one with Frederic Yonnet. Beyond fabulous.
Even without the video you can imagine what it was like PRINCE dancing and playing the guitar and the voice that will drip your honey down your leg ...FUNKIER THAN FUNK !
I don't think there was much love lost between Keith Richards and Prince during Princes lifetime , Keith has been better in his comments since. I think Prince is showing Keith how to play here! His impression of Mick is priceless and a little more affectionate. They all go back to 1979, lots of history.
saw Prince & the Revolution perform this at Wembley arena in 86 with Ronnie Wood & Sting.. The greatest musician ever covering a song from the greatest rock band ever. Pretty Cool Stuff. He went from being booded off their stage to Mastering their sound!

Prince was a genius.
He still is.
yes - he is a dream - forever@@brachelleon8333
Prince was one the best,if not the best musician.
Anything the Stones can do, Prince can do it BETTER!!!!
this just goes to show that Prince could play whatever the hell he wanted to, and sound awesome, sometimes more awesome than the original.
Kevin P I agree 100%

Mick Jagger could learn few things from prince
G*man prince sings stones songs better than the stones.

I know everyone came here for Prince, respect, but damn give a like for Frederic Yonnet, that harp is killing it!
the harp riffs is what makes this tune so Great !!! no matter who is doing it
The harp is smashing
OMG this is the greatest song I've ever heard. 10k times better than the original. Shows that everyone else should just hang it up.

My favourite Stones song played by Prince, what could be better.
He went from being booded off their stage to Mastering their sound!
Prince was already Light years Ahead of the rolling Stones musically
Princed got booed as opening act for the stones. And killed their own song better than they did
