- This video demonstrates how to get straight or curved body lines straight consistently using masking tape. This really works every time without having to think about it.

thank,s again for the very useful video; I watch and rewatch your video,s; Stay well friend,PATRICK.P
Thanks Patrick, stay well too - we're starting to see a lot of covid cases show up lately around here. I'll have to stay in the garage and make vids - no little covid germs stand a chance against paint fumes :)
Working on a 2004 accord wheel arch rotted out. They don’t make patch panels for it that I can find. So had to build them out of scrap metal. Now just gotta put the body line in this should help me.
This may help out a lot for what you are doing - czcams.com/video/Jk29avqnVXI/video.html
I saw this technique in another of your videos before my wife’s car was repaired. Other guys insurance was paying. When we got it back I ran my hand along the edge and it was slightly off ( don’t tell my wife) and I instantly thought he didn’t use the tape line.
That's funny - Every body does it a bit different in the shops. It's like getting your roof done - some companies are great - some not so great. Thanks for the story :)
Thx
You're welcome :)
Man I got a lot of this to do on my 72 dart quarters so I'm paying attention!
Get crackin' - practice makes perfect. Have a good weekend and thanks for the comment :)
Got the smallest bit of damage on my Audi A1 but managed to destroy the rear arch body line and the rear quarter body line god I have my work cut out trying to get them back 🤦 this should help thank you sir .
You're welcome - ask ?s if you need as you go :)
@@LakesideAutobody thanks buddy 🔥
Great tip! What brand is your yellow tape?? I’ve used the BLUE painters tape...it works Ok, but could be better... THANKS!!
3M Automotive Refinish Tape - with auto body repairs you have to use good tape. This stuff isn't that pricey though.
Good video. What proportion of your work is rust repair?
Well... a lot right now because I just want to cover a wide variety of rust repairs for viewers. When I worked in suburban shops it was more uni body/frame repair and accident repair on later model cars. Thanks BTW
Awesome what do u think about the rustoleum high build primer surfacer
I've used the stuff in the spray bomb can before and I think it works fine. You'll have to get your body work pretty darn close though as I have doubts that it would build thickness as well as professional primer surfacers. I could be wrong on that though so give it a try. The stuff in the can says brush on - but I'm thinking you could thin it and spray it - not sure if it's lacquer based or oil based. I'll think about doing a video on that 'cause it's so readily available.
@@LakesideAutobody I appreciate the comment back you do really good job I've watched quite a few videos on body work but after watching a bunch of yours made me feel a lot more confident you get right down to business thanks for taking the time yeah I think I might go with some better primer you got to do it you might as well do it right
@@LakesideAutobody It would be great to see a test of how the pro build primers work vs the rustoleum .
@@peglegtoo You are right - I'm on it. Just got to get to it :) I'll do it though - I think there would be a lot of interest in that.
Nice filler work. Welcome to the rust belt. I hate it but necessary.
Thanks Bear - I never worry about using filler - If applied correctly it lasts forever and is never noticed.
@@LakesideAutobody Very true. You are kind of a legend around my parts of the city.
