@@constantinecara270 Yes, but Macedonians in Antiquity were not the same as Macedonians now. Why? Because they are, for the most part, Serbs, and lesser, Bulgarians. "Macedonian nation" was created in 1945. on the basis of "land defines nation" - therefore, these people live in what people in the medieval times would define as "Macedonia" are now a separate people; even though they are actually not. To somehow try to coorelate antique Macedonians to Macedonians now is absurd. The language is totally different (a dialect of Serbian, mixed with Bulgarian), not to mention anything else.

I believe that one of the most important sources about the Macedonians being part of the Greek world, comes from the Persians themselves. In the lists founded in Persepolis, in which are listed all the people, under the King Darius the First's rule, the Macedonians are called as "Yauna Tabakara". "Yauna", which comes from the "Ionian", is the word that the people of the East use for calling the Greeks since nowdays ("Yunan" etc), and "tabakara" means the particular cover for the head, that the Macedonians wore. So even the Persians, who were the greatest rivals of the ancient Greeks, they referred to the Macedonians as Greeks, 200 years before Alexander the Great.
Additionally, The Jews, in Daniel (Bible) refer to Alexander III as the Greek king and Macedonia as the Greek Kingdom. In Maccabees I, they refer to Seleucid empire as the Greek Kingdom. In Hebrew is Javan/ Yavan.
The Indians refer to the era when the Greeks ruled over west India as "The Greek Era" or "Yavana Era" and refer to the Greeks as Yavanas
The ancient Chinese also had a war with the Greeks in Asia. The event is called "the war of the heavenly horses". The Chinese also called their enemy "Dayuan" (Chinese: 大宛; meaning “Great Ionians”)
The Romans (in Livy) mention that Macedonians are Greek speaking, and with the rest of the Greeks sometimes they unite sometimes they disunite but in the end they support each other in the fights against the barbarians.
To conclude, all the neighbours (and occasionally enemies) of the Macedonian kingdoms were referring to them as Greek.
There is no question about Macedonians being Greek.

Only the Byzantine chroniclers had this particular habit to use anchronisms when they refer to their contemporary adversaries (because of their obsesion with the classical ancient history). The ancient Persians's lists on the other hand, were pretty acurate in their way to describe the people under their rule.

Also the names of many cities of Macedonia, are connected with those of Peloponnese, like Argos Orestiko, Aegae (Aegaeon of Aegialis, Aegean Sea etc), which confirm the common Dorian origins.

There are also many cities with the name Herakleia from Southern Italy (Herakleia near Taras), to Macedonia (Herakleia Lynkestis), to Asia Minor (Herakleia Pontike).

The Atheneans as part of the Ionian tribe, always underestimated the Dorian and the Aeolian Greeks and their dialects, and they always tried to point out their intellectual superiority among the other Greek tribes. For this reason the Atheneans tried to use the term "barbarian" in order to diminish the Dorian and Aeolian Greeks, like the Macedonians, the Boetians, the Aetolians, and even the Spartans sometimes (remember that the Atheneans didn't leave the King of Sparta, Kleomenes the First, to make an offering in Acropolis, with the excuse that he was a "barbaric Dorian", and only when he told them that he was an Achean, they allowed him to do so) who spoke more archaic, rough, and less elaborated Greek dialects, in comparison to the vastly complicated Attic dialect. But at the end, the Koine, the more simple Greek dialect that the Macedonians introduced, became dominant in the Greek world, while the Attic dialect remained in use only by some intellectuals.

So, there is nothing else to discuss... it is stupid to argue on such issues because of a Slavic nation recently gained indepedence, called North of Makedonia.

P.S; Karanos was a historical figure. He was the brother of king Pheidon of Argos and is said to have established the kingdom of Macedonia at 700 B.C.
About Temenos (descendant of Hercules) and his genealogy which was also from Argos is all about myth/religion. Temenos had three sons named Aeropos, Gavanes and Perdiccas. His sons got exiled from Argos. According to myth they ruled upon 12 Thracian tribes of the area and established the first cities of Aigai and Pella. They also said to be the original creators of the Macedonian symbol which depicts a sun. After their exile they got into service of a local king who later refused to paid them. When the three brothers demanded their payment more aggressively the king showed them some dirt on the ground which was hit by some sunrays hitting on the ground. The three brothers considered this as their payment; later they ruled over the land and created used the Sun as their symbol as a remembrance of that ''payment''.
The latter myth was used by the Argead dynasty, which was historically created by Karanos, in order to prove their descend from Hercules and thus their right to rule.
Will probably cover the founding myths in more detail once we start with the series on Macedonia. Possibly next year.
@@WanaxTV It's too hard to try this though. There are many versions about genealogy. The most common and secure one though is that Hercules had sexual intercourse with some local woman and her offspring received automatically the right to rule. That's the argument of every city-state or other social entity to prove it's ''Greek-ness''.
It’s important to note that the 12 Rayed Sunburst was a PanHellenic Symbol used by ALL the Greeks as well!!!! Also, the Symbol has survived in Byzantine Greek Iconography usually on the Virgin Mary & is known as the AEIPARTHENOS !!!!! 🇬🇷👍🏻

Im aware of the debates about Macedon not being Greek. But I agree with this video.
and as a Christian and a history lover, I believe what the Bible says in Daniel during the Babylonian empire. The prophet lived around 530 BC.
He clearly says "king of Grecia" as an oracle of God, and that settles it for me.
