  • Hi Everyone hope you keeping well, here we have the worst job I have had to do on the golf up to now!
    My Golfs heating vents suddenly started expelling steam that had a coolant smell mixed in, this is a common problem with vw heater cores/matrix in which they fail and start leaking into the car.

    Superb job mate, I had this done on my Golf 2, years ago. The garage charged me only R500 at the time because I used to give them so much of business with the car. After watching you I just confirmed what a nightmare it is. Mine will have to be done sometime in the future. I will definitely outsource it. Lol. Hope you're feeling better now.     Agree with you about accessibility. It’s a known issue on the mk3 and still a problem on the mk4. Same with the bottom of the front wings collecting dirt and crap then rotting out. The fresh air Re-circulation is another common failure & dash out job.

    Bro I got to give it to you!
    I could just tell how stressed you were with this job! I just pray i never have to face this.
    Im struggling to find a water leak problem on my mk4 gti!
    I've sealed all the doors and made sure the drains are flushing on the sun roof but still no luck as to why its bloody leaking lol
    Only the rear right footwell is dry and the rest is all wet!

      Thanks bro it was a serious job, hope I never have to touch there again lol. Your leak might be from the pollen filter going down Into the front footwell and then seeping through to the rear. Check the fire wall area and pollen filter cover as these can be problematic.

      @@Mk4heavenHD I found the problem bro, it was the front drain pipes that had come off the rubber grommet!
      All fixed now

    Thank you for this video, very few videos on this issue. Did you temperature light go on when you drove? I have a similar issue, steam coming out the vents, temperature light on and the coolant reservoir is empty.

      You welcome mate, my temp light didn’t come on because it had just started leaking had I left it a few wells I think it would have emptied the expansion tank and come on.

    My heater matrix has recently packed in, and I just cannot be bothered ripping my interior to bits to change one part, I’ll just be cold 🥶, until spring

      Bro access to this matrix is unbelievable and a horrible job. It took me 2-3 days not rushing and just doing it in steps because taking off is one thing putting back is another lol..

    I have a pd150 Leon. Loosing coolant. Can smell coolant when I turn heaters on. Can’t see any leaks. My floor is dry also. What could it be?

      Hi mate, sounds like the matrix if you can smell it. I would rule everything else out first. Some cars loose coolant with head gasket failure or general leak. My car started smelling first then my heating was playing up then steam in the cabin.

    Hi mate I’m in the middle of doing the same job lol only mines is diesel, how did you wire your boost gauge up and where did you feed the tube for the gauge as well? Also my gauge is smoked and you can’t see it till it’s powered up, cheers

      Hi mate, lol good question. When I built my Audio into the car I ran an extra cable through the electrical grommet incase I ever needed to pull anything through, sure enough few years later I used the same cable to attach my boost gauge pipe and pull it through.

      @@Mk4heavenHD no problem mate, when I was installing the dash back in after the heater matrix replacement, I was having a look at the grommet for the bonnet cable for the pipe but I’m not sure how to wire the gauge up, think it’s a smoked pro sport gauge 👍

      hi mate, the only other thing they recommend you do is the foam inside the heater unit as it perishes away. Mine was still okay so left it.

      Hi mate thanks, Good question, yes my car is running ported manifold done by me. Forgot to show this in my build videos. I did buy a large port manifold but had clearance issues and opted to port my own one (not an easy job lol) very time consuming but worth it.

    Hi I'm struggling with this hey. What is the purpose of the brown strap you pealed. At 15:40 mins to 16 mins. I've put everything back but it's still leaking.

      Hi bro, this is a horrible job lol.. the brown strap is the foam that seals the space between the rad and plastic housing. There is also additional foam tape for the air vent that comes with the kit.

    I just copt steam coming out of my interior vents. Very slight wisps. Smell of coolant inside when its hot as well. Time to get rooting i suppose.

    If anti freeze liquid comes into interior and my whole interior and windows are becoming greasy and wet, that means i need to change interior radiator or what?

      Yes most likely your heater matrix is gone, the main area to notice this fluid would be either in the footwell or under the headunit area.

      Great sound for sure mate, k tuned is 3” all the way and will flow better in the upper part of the Rev range. In some cases people with identical mods but different exhausts have gained 5-10bhp.

      @@TroubledTimes2024 ah right so we both confused 😜🤣🤣🤣. Yeah the golf sounds great mate but the gearboxes are weak. If you go through my videos you’ll see that I’ve already damaged one. I think power shifting them would help if they had no lift shift mapped in and probably a Leon Cupra R gearbox.

      @@Mk4heavenHD it is! i managed to remove all the dashboard and everything that needs to come out on the inside but it got too dark to continue so im going back in a couple of minutes. its just taking out four more bolts and it should be free. really excited to get it back together and test it out

      Sorry Didn’t see the comment mate, to be honest I’ve been meaning to do this mod for so long as everyone says it’s the best chassis mod you can do to these cars. Looking at the white line one it looks decent and probably a good choice.

      @@AH-nw8qg Lol no sometimes messages don't show up for some weird reason. I think its a good mod from what others are saying, im yet to try for myself. Ive bought the EBC red stuffs for the golf due to them being the reasonable lowest brake dust pad out there, thanks for your feedback on your yellow stuffs. You have a great evening mate.

      I think redstuff are ceramic brake pads, so indeed they are low dust pads.
      But I have read reviews on them from the very postive to the very negative. Wheras the reviews on yellow ones were postive. So I picked yellowstuff.
      Hope you'll happy with the red ones and won't have any problem with them.

    I was about to do this but thank Allah it i was leaking from the engine bay side from the heater matrix pipe going in too the heater core the inner rubber seals check this first.

      It depends on your mechanics charge per hour. It took me about two hours so here in Uk average cost would be 50-80 per hour x 2.

      @@warchiefsven799 - I thought I could get away without taking them off until I was yanking on the box that the core sits in and it wouldn't move. After I removed the A/C pipes straight out. Just double check wherever you've seen that and ask them how they managed to do it because you will save yourself a lot of hassle if its possible.

    The sign if coolant is leaking inside the car it smells like Fenugreek, or Methi. I cant believe that car makers dont make it easier to get the unit that fails consitentently

      @@Mk4heavenHD kool ...bet your reluctant, I've got a remapped 2.0 tfsi now audi a3 250hp..tbh it goes well they map great...got Avon's on the front I would not reccomend them tbh it just spins even in 2nd, might try those tyres you put on golf

      @@intunewithcars9484 - Lol yeah, it’s had a lot invested into it and even tho I have a couple of cars this always seems to be the nicest to drive and cleanest. The Toyo’s are brilliant in dry and little slippy in the wet but for the price it’s a thumbs up from me.

    Had to drive my car open exhaust from turbo, long story short, I melted the 2 coolant hose connections ends to cores plastic ends. I Do not want to pull the dash, hope I reconnect hoses to heater core. 😖😣😥 more emojis to come.

      @@Mk4heavenHD I guess I'm 75% + blessed both sides seemed wet was able to get the outer connecter off one side and the core's tube accepted a new connecter the other side might be melted together but not leaking.😅
