In court Monday, marking day five of the double murder trial, the jury heard audio of Abulaban confessing to his mother on the phone that he had just shot and killed his wife, Ana Abulaban.

For all the idiots saying she shouldn't have cheated: he was abusive, he cheated on her while they were together, she filed a RESTRAINING ORDER against him and filed for divorce. She changed the locks, he no longer lived there. He was a jealous, controlling, drug addicted narcissistic psychopath and anyone defending him knowing all of this is a terrible person. There is no excusing his behavior during their relationship and especially after it HAD ENDED. This acceptance of domestic violence is unacceptable. Women deserve better. Chikdren deserve better.

No Corpus Delicti - Pretty much means a confession alone isn't enough for a conviction. State still need to prove the elements of the charge, and a confession might be a piece of evidence, but still not enough to override the State's burden of proof.
it is for good reason. a confession is only one component of nailing down proof of a crime and the intent behind it. building up a robust case takes a while on both sides, both for the defense and the prosecution. if we want someone to go away for a very long time, it takes time to ensure a jury finds them guilty.
It's not a confession. It was a conversation this mother. Damming evidence.

the issue in this case is in regards to intent. He didn't plead guilty, he's dragged this out as is his right technically. He is claiming crime of passion the state is claiming premeditated murder and therefore those elements must be proven
