- In this video we break down 10 times, one seemingly normal UFC/MMA fight set off huge, several year and several fight long rivalries. Whether it was between families, training partners or someone just did something downright disrespectful, one fight was just the beginning.

Tito "The Wordsmith" Ortiz vs. Stipe "Mumble Mouth" Miocic in a verbal debate. Make it happen Dana!
😂😂😂😂😂 #FACTS
Stipe would make some great points we just wouldn’t be able to ever understand them. Tito would just be rambling about hyenas😂
10 rounds, 5 Debate rounds, 5 UFC Rounds. let's go.
@@zackhicks5320 honestly better than the original comment
Joe Biden as the moderator.
Love the backstory to Aoki flipping dude off, pretty savage
Aoki was a badass. Dudes got a jiu jitsu submission named after him. He's still competing in his 40s in grappling. Just recently had a match with Mikey musumeci.
@@EPATZhe's also about to have an MMA fight with Sage Northcutt
How un-Japanese of him.
aaaaand stilllll waiting for the top 10 moments when the fighter talked trash during the fight
Haven't those fighters been mentioned in their many videos about trash talk, already posted?
My all time favorite was Gary Goodridge screaming at the guy that was punching him from bottom guard. "Again! Again! Woohoo! Child's play!" And then he commenced to smash him with one punch.
Bethe Correia was pretty clever with her one. It made me laugh at the time
Yeah didn’t realize she was on a mission makes you wonder how the division would’ve looked if she beat Ronda
Fun Fact: Guy Mezger is a stunt double for Ken Shamrock
I always wondered why Aoki flicked that guy off like that. All this time he was just representing for the homie lol
Great video. Especially the 50s rivalries reaching into modern day.
I became a super fan bakc when Tito was running through the Lion's Den. One of my favorite fighter rivalries
Even though Tito was the “bad guy”, I actually have to root for him instead of the Lion’s Den, because he trained in BJJ, whereas the Lion’s Den fighters trained in Catch Wrestling.
@@perfectsplit5515... Man, Tito was my first favorite MMA fighter. I loved his entire aura and style. Frank Shamrock was my second.
@@ChainsGone2012 To me, Tito Ortiz embodies the saying, "Hard times make strong men" If you read his book, you know how bad his family had it after his father got addicted to medicinal heroin.
@@ChainsGone2012 I use Tito Ortiz and Ted Kaczynski as case studies as polar opposites. Tito barely finished high school, sold drugs in his youth, got addicted to drugs in his youth, got a lengthy juvenile criminal record, and had no future. And he went on to become the longest running UFC light heavyweight champ (before Jon Jones).
Ted Kaczynski skipped 2 grades, had the best dissertation of 1975, and became the youngest professor in the history of UC-Berkeley at 25. And now he is serving a life sentence in a federal penitentiary for domestic terrorist acts.
You never know how people will end up.
@@perfectsplit5515.. I never knew about his background. And the comparison with the unibomber is a pretty dope one.
Vintage MMAOnPoint. Well researched, entertaining presentation. Great work guys
Everyone was mad when bethe said Ronda would contemplate self harm after losing....fast forward a bit and she loses to Holm and does an interview saying her thinking went that route.
Honorable mention: Tony Ferguson vs exposed cords.
Tito used to look like an actual human being back in the day
Lol what does he look like today an alien?? Lol
yes @@rodrigobarba930
@@rodrigobarba930a thumb thumb from spy kids
Back then I disliked him as a person because of his trash talking. His trash talk reminded me of the disrespect I got from bullies in high school.
I didn’t know back then that it was just an act.
Great video. I would love to see a deep dive video into the Judo vs JuiJitSu rivalry its pretty damn interesting
Thank you so much for constantly putting out the highest quality content on the MMA world. The passion and deep research is obvious and it's great that we're blessed with such earnest and inspired topics every few days. Long may it continue.
This was the best video you guys ever made. It would be awesome if you did more history videos as well.
Agreed
Saki and the whole Gracie family was immediately in my mind when I saw this
Ironically Sakuraba trained in BJJ in 1996, under Enson Inoue, before his fights with Gracies. It is ridiculous that he would represent any opposition to BJJ.
I feel like rampage vs rua wasnt much of a rivalry personally , if anything i think ramapage vs chute box wouldve been a better title imo
I like the small rivalry between Tito and Lee Murray... 😊
Beating up old Jake Sheilds is like beating a Dead Horse😂
Never forget, Bethe Correia's incredible rump 🙏🙌👏
Love the coverage of the pioneer days of organized fighting, the rivalries dating back almost 100 years and more is great history.
Top tier videos always thanks
Great vid lads
That cody performance vs cruz was just something else man
Being called "the Gracie Hunter" is one of the most badass things I've ever heard
4:37 bookmark
It was great to see Dom and Urijah show respect on that post show interview. That was my favorite rivalry from this list.
Holy shit great video
1:20 I thought that was
T-city
This video offered lots of nostalgia!
7:00 i can feel the emotion in that expression.
The setup of a movie based off bjj and judo is actually crazy. Would be so cool.
Sakuraba vs Belfort and Allan Goes in Pride should be here, as it set off the chain of events that would make The Gracie Hunter legendary.
The UFC needs to consider letting Tito Ortiz replace Dana White once he's gone.
Tito would spend all their money on beer and candy, and they would be out of business in 6 months
@@LurchFetterman Hey now, Tito doesn't drink alcohol that much, at all, anymore, you know, ever, I mean, not compared to when he was in his twenties. He takes care of himself now. Now it's about his kids. You know, he wants to live. He wants to outlive his children.... of course. 100%.
No Chute Box vs Brazilian Top Team?
The Brazilian Vale Tudo tournament pitting a Luta Livre team against a BJJ team was analogous to the 1974 tournament in Lumpinee Stadium between the Kung Fu team and the Muay Thai team.
3:10 I'm pleasantly surprised to see two fun and obscure JMMA guys in this video
Rivalry between Brazilian Top Team & Chute Boxe should be on this video
I wasn’t aware that Shogun and rampage was a rivalry😂 more like a one-sided ass whooping after Jackson fasted for three days before because demons told him to😭😭😭😭😭
Rampage's decision to fast for three days was actually during the lead-up to his rematch with Wanderlei.
@@Fluoride_Jones oh shit I couldn’t remember which fight I just remembered he got dismantled after he fasted I don’t know why I thought it was this fight😭
@@teagueroellchen2634 No worries! Rampage's track record in Pride against team Chute Boxe was mostly him just getting dismantled, so they all sort of run together. 😆
Legend has it Kimura was 1000lbs heavier than helio . But of course kimura had padded mats AND helio wasn’t a humble guy - he brought a casket to the fight. Gracie / BJJ propaganda is a machine
If you haven’t yet you should make one on failed mma revenge fights
I always turn my head away from the screen in the intro so I don’t get spoilered 😅
where can i watch that video bayliun made that he mentioned
Actually juicy information coming out of this video and not just the obvious first fights in popular rivalries. Yall literally went back to world war 2 almost with this one.
Isn’t Duarte the dude that barked at mark Kerr before playing dead? Never would see him as the brawl starting type
I was looking for this comment and yeah he was. Mark Kerr didn't have a long career but at his peak he was absolutely terrifying. Mestre Hulk just slid under the ropes and left during their fight; Branko Cikatić looked like a frightened child before purposely getting himself disqualified; and you mentioned Duarte's yelps of fear and playing dead.
FWIW I think Mark Kerr should be in the UFC Hall of Fame for winning back to back heavyweight tournaments.
That Pride story is insane haha how did I not know that.
wait what? no Pereira v Adesanya and Jon jones v DC?
Theres no greater shame in mma than going home with the yellow lambo
Did he say PATRICKY?! Lmao like 5 times
Cooper 3 vs Shields is a cool story fr
Crazy that the gracie hunter saga isn't on this list
Had no idea that Sakuraba was involved in any kind of rivalry between judo and BJJ. I never found any evidence that he trained in judo. Ironically, he trained in BJJ in 1996, under Enson Inoue, before any of his fights with Gracies. In addition to his Catch Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling, and Muay-Thai. He later trained in BJJ again under Sergio Penha after his fights with Gracies. It is ridiculous that he would represent any “opposition” to BJJ.
Crazy how at one point Faber was P4P & one of the best in the world
10 big losses that set off losing streaks to top fighters.
We all know #1 would be Gaethje vs Ferguson. I think you would have to extend that to not necessarily losing streaks, but just a fall from dominance, like Werdum vs Fedor. It's not like Fedor kept losing over and over after that, but he definitely wasn't the same as he was before.
Alex Stiebling versus the country of Brazil.
I'd forgotten about those horribly gay Lion's Den berets 😂
Bethe telling Ronda to not kill herself has nothing to do with her father. Ronda was just a drama queen disrespecting her own father's name by doing that. Bethe told Ronda not to kill herself cuz Ronda said she'd rather die than lose her title
We needa video on the history of pride
There's a CZcamsr named Napoleon Blownapart who did an amazing (and hilarious) one. Bas Rutten himself said he liked it.
Just think of the irony of a rivalry between BJJ and Luta Livre. The modern reality is that loads and loads of people train in and compete in Luta-Livre Esportiva. They just don’t call it that. They call it, “BJJ No-Gi”. In many cases, they erroneously call it, “BJJ”.
The George Gracie is hilarious...first fight gets choked hahaha.
Honorable mention: Brazilian Top Team x Chute Box
No Cormier vs Jones? Did I miss it?
No Jones/DC mention?
Yea, kinda crazy right. But it looked like they did past rivalries, which is pretty cool. They DID do the Jones v Rashad, which was a great one.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I miss Pride ⚡Man !
I am glad that Tito decided to come out
Do a video of the drake curse
Countdown videos are usually kind of whack.
This was pretty decent though.
“Can’t let you get close “
The first one should not be on this list
Bethe is a weird case ngl, she can get it but at the same it feels just wrong to say it.
I love grudge matches
The intro: Today, I have rivalries that started for reasons other than fights
The title: fights that started rivalries
Dc and Jones not #1?
There hasn’t been any that bad blooded
It's so weird someone is lying just don't know who
Is there a title fight where the champ got dog walked as bad as when jones worked shogun?
Was Ronda x Bethe even a rivalry though? Without the UFC marketing machine, that's just a 40 year old accountant (Dana's words) that managed to beat an old vet who couldn't keep up as the division got younger and a girl who was only there because her friend pulled some strings. Really makes you wonder how bad Marina Shafir was that even the biggest MMA star in the world (at the time) couldn't get her a job.
#1 Gracies vs stealing Jujutsu
They skipped the Tito vs Frank Shamrock fight.
I remember when i thought tito is a cool guy
That was nearly 20 years ago
4:19 oh snap. Kazuyuki Fujita and Katsuyori Shibata. 2 known Japanese pro wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Must’ve been during the Inokism period
Wrestling.....gay
I miss Tito Ortiztic
How can someone be so poor they can't afford a gi, but they can afford to train at a gym? That doesn't make any sense, sounds like poor budgeting to me.
New!
Wait a minute… this isn’t war thunder
No wonder the Gracies ran away when wrestlers started getting in the UFC. They couldn’t rig everything.
Moral of the video: don’t fuck with Rickson
To be honest and not sound like an a hole but that’s the only time that I was happy that Rhonda won that fight. Oh well.
Correia using Rousey's dad's suicide for trash talk was way over the line. I was glad when Ronda smashed her too.
I think Ronda Rousey gets shit on too much nowadays. Watching her just mow through people was entertaining as it was happening.
Second?
Nobody gives af
@@smhgaming3259 you clearly do tho
first
No one cares just watch the video
Nobody cares
I DONT GIVE A SHET!!!
Oh.
You finally made your parents proud.
Dude, he didnt refuse to tap. Aoki literally prevented it by wrapping up his opposing hand.
