  • @Mike525F
    @Mike525F Před měsícem +1

    I used to do the hole punch in the oil filter too but now I’ve learned an even easier and less messy method. Simply use a plastic disposable ice coffee cup. Starbucks venti or Dunkin medium size works perfectly. Roughly 22 oz. After loosening the filter, cup the whole filter and spin it off with cup in your hand. The oil will begin to pour into the cup. Not anywhere else. Then gently let the old filter slide into the same cup. Catch remaining dripping oil in the plastic cup and be ready with a new filter once it has slowed to a slow enough drip. Replace filter and done. I got all my friends doing this and they too agree that this has been the best method yet.

Even a slight incline will do the trick and if you're more comfortable changing your oil filter the same way as always no problem, you can just step out from underneath leave the oil pan still dripping, bring the car down, jack it up from the side for a minute to get that oil on the filter to drain and then jack it up again the way you always have and you should be able to get it out with out the mess.

      My luck it loses structural integrity, then I'm there 2 hours taking pieces of a filter off. Mine is in a tight ass spot.

      @@CB-el3sv If you dont crack it loose first and just punch a hole in the bottom what are you gonna do if its cranked on too tight and cant take it off. throw tape on it? plenty of obscenities will be thrown as the filter crushes and loses its structural integrity. nothing more fun than a bent up stubborn bloody tit leaking all over the place that wont remove itself lol. been there and seen plenty do it.

      @@jmt052393 bingo. im an auto tech for a living unfortunately as it doesnt pay enough and I'm tired of wrenching. but punching holes in filters is a bad idea generally speaking. if the filter looses is structural integrity it makes it more difficult to remove. the filter will crush and become more impossible. always a good idea to crack it free near the base of the filter closest to the housing.

    I just leave the filter a little loose… never have to change it or the oil, just add some here and there and youre golden

    That filter is positioned upright so you wouldn't make a mess. If anything just put a plastic bag around the filter as you remove it, to catch any oil.

      It's gotta come off one way or the other at that point. So it doesn't really matter I don't think to be honest. Besides, if you do end up tearing it up to get it off this way it's already empty and you aren't having to take an oil bath. 😁
