    That's really impressive damn congratulations ! Did you use tonics on Ivy or give her a meal before battle ? With a bit more damage output you wouldn't have had to rely on crit or dual assists to kill Sombron.

    • @diveblonde
      @diveblonde  Před rokem +4

      This is with Tonic yeah
      The options to up Ivy's Mag more would be inheriting Mag+ from Celica or using Sage or Divine Dragon Alear with Boots since they give bonus Mag to her with the Synergy skill in Engage+
      Sadly I was a bit short on SP for Mag+ and had used boots on Louis (won't be doing that again) so couldn't really do that

    I am still stuck on this fight for just Hard mode. Watching this video makes me realize that perhaps my strategy on the map isn't bad, but that I lack the foresight to see all the really interesting combinations of interactions. To be honest, I still don't really understand how to use Chain Attacks. Looking up Lucina again right now, I can see that her "Dual Assist+" is the key to it.
    Seems to be very effective in the 'death by thousand paper cuts' strategy.
    I think for me, the problem I'm running into still is that I just have too many options to work with, too many combinations to try out and consider that it becomes overwhelming. For almost all of the emblems, I frankly have no clue which emblem should be on which unit. They each have skills that offer benefits to almost any unit making their pairings universal to a degree.
    Is your entire party built around this specific chain attack wombo combo? Like, does this set up still work fine for normal skirmishes where you have to kill everything and not just 1 target?
    I'm not sure what things to do or change on my end now. I can farm skirmishes all day long and grind, but I cannot imagine this is my only way out suddenly. That and getting SP points is sooooooo slow. I don't really wanna play the game for another 2 or 3 weeks just to grind the SP to give everyone Lucina's dual assist skill.
    Hell, I don't even know how to decide what the best unit classes for each character is. I'm so used to the older games where the options are more limited and you maximize as best as you can from that.

    • @a3ytc
      @a3ytc Před rokem +3

      I don't think you need the dual assist strategy - if you look at this video it misses most times on the boss so he is not easily cheesed that way. I would say just kill the two bottom summons at least and he starts taking enough damage where you can wear him out. From this video why don't you start by copying the Alear setup - the rest of this is just optimization but looks like his Alear could almost solo the map if need be

    • @juicyjuustar121
      @juicyjuustar121 Před rokem

      Chain attacks aren't actually very good against Sombron, as he has a skill that makes them miss way more often and deal way less damage. For me, I found the best way to beat this chapter was actually to take it slow; although, make sure your units are ready to wail on Sombron once the barrier is down so you don't have to spend two and a half hours on the chapter like I did lol

    • @Alice_Haukea
      @Alice_Haukea Před rokem +1

      @@juicyjuustar121 That is actually why I'm so frustrated with this fight. The fact that each try ran me 2+ hours before finally realizing i wasn't gonna win. I'm just not willing to burn a whole day trying over and over on a fight with no progress to show for it in the end. Now to be fair, I haven't touched the game in like 2 months now. Eventually I need to finish it.
      I'm just wondering if there are certain benchmarks I need to meet first. Like, if your characters aren't at least "X" strong, they won't win. Or do certain emblem ring pairings need to happen? The final battle just feels like a math equation where there is only one right way of getting the correct answer.

      @@Alice_Haukea What part of it exactly is giving you trouble? I'm no expert on the game, but with a bit of info on your situation, I might be able to give a few pointers

    • @Alice_Haukea
      @Alice_Haukea Před rokem +1

      @@juicyjuustar121 I've only attempted the final battle a couple times. So I cannot accurately say "I've tried everything".
      My 1st attempt was sloppy as I went into the fight blind. I didn't know which Dark emblem should be attacked by which good emblem. So that cost me a bit. My pacing was sloppy and I would get my units too spread out and separated resulting in them being overwhelmed in the long run and killed. Going into the second round of Dark Emblems, it became hard to keep up with them while also keeping the reinforcements in check. After about 2 hours or so, I got the barrier down for the second time. But failed to deplete an HP bar. And when the 3rd round of emblems spawned in, I realized I just wasn't gonna make it. This entire save file was me trying to brute force the game without using the new features. I went into this final fight without having ever used the Arena or Ring Chamber. For anything.
      I ended up restarting my save file. I realized I had neglected everything else and it would likely prove impossible to win in this state. Kinda amazed I made it that far already. Anyways, I restarted my save file and took much more care in the side stuff. Decided from the start what characters I wanted to use in the long run, planned out what skills I wanted to give everyone. Set up 5 dogs in the farmyard for metal farming. And figured out I can use a Second Seal to reset a class level and continue the XP gain. Yet despite doing everything right now, I actually struggled on more chapters than I did in my original play through. In my original save file, I didn't know I could reset my levels so by the time I reached the final battle, my characters had all been lv20 for a good 4 chapters or more. In this new save file, they are all essentially lv40 ish due to the resets, yet their stats feel no better really than in my original save file.
      I assume I am still making mistakes even in this new save file run. I haven't looked up what characters have special growth rates or anything. So perhaps I've class changed characters incorrectly. Perhaps I'm paring the wrong emblems with the wrong units. Perhaps I'm not using enough of the right units. I am not using Hortencia this time because she's annoying. But as a dedicated staff user, maybe I should have been.
      I find that I cannot keep my heal units alive as the AI targets them first. I've been spamming random encounters for more leveling, but even that is hard right now. I'm trying to raise Panette or whaetver her name is. But the only enemies I encounter are heavy armored units which shrug off damage from her so leveling her is hard.
      In that same vein of logic, I also cannot do any skirmish that starts my team off separated into small groups. A skirmish at Roy's paralogue chapter is impossible right now.
      I feel bad because I've never had trouble with a FE game before. I'm playing on Hard btw.

      Thx. I'm just trying to find ways to enjoy the game and get more support and train weaker units post-game.
