⚠️ December 2021 | Yield Update ⚠️
One barrel of Diesel fuel will run the excavator for 2 minutes and will now yield:
- 100 HQM
- 2000 Sulfur Ore
- 10,000 Stone
- 5000 Metal Fragments
I didn’t even care about this monument in Rust since there are places with more valuable loots. But after this month update, I seek for this video to learn the puzzle in here. Thank you Jfarr 🙏

Because sadly most rust players don't want to watch actual information and learn. They want to watch edited game play videos and learn from that. Has changed the game a lot for better and worse since release.

Damn, one would think the Devs would make this more powerful. But then again, obtaining the Fuel alone is a Large Group's Task, so the Output only benefits them anyways.
Agree, this thing is impossible to guard solo, since you need to watch 3 different places that has your loot. But can be abused so hard by large groups.

I recommend taking a bolt or l96 and going with HV 5.56 and taking out all the scientists from far away, there are only 18 so you can count your kills. also a normal weapon to stop grubs from taking your diesel or hqm

If you have jackhammer, ore tea and good luck with nodes then that is better, but if you and your friends come here with burlap and compounds then it is great for passive farming and grabbing some early game loot.

It should farm a lot more ores. There’s LOADS of scientist which would take 5-10 minutes to kill. You have to gather 20 diesel fuel (if you want your time worth) which could take a couple of hours. The loot splits into TWO section which is already setup for people to steal so then you have to defend for 40 minutes. I assume you are using guns which require ammo which also require SULFER AND METAL. I can farm 40k sulfur in one hour with less trouble and less time
luckily the amounts that you gain has been increased to
- 100 HQM
- 2000 Sulfur Ore
- 10,000 Stone
- 5000 Metal Fragments

Nah hi-pop servers have the barrels respawn faster than the scientists...so if u leave outta range of the monument after hacking crate and come back they should be there again! Smoil isn't worth imo unless u just need a few more...Large is the best place to go and tbh I forgot but there's another monument I was at that I gathered a few from! But yeah Large will net u 5-6 at a time..in a half hour me and my boy 15 diesel on a hi pop server,everyone else focuses on military and elite crates to progress so if u grub the leftovers at Large after it's taken u can even have endgame mats first week of wipe...just gotta protect the excavator from the bird's nest with a compound or Bolty

The ironic thing about this monument is that the crate you find are bad even for Tier 1, but the protection is similar to Military Tunnels, which has Tier 3 loot.
It feels like whoever placed the loot thought this monument would be easy to be roamed by low tier players (like Harbor) and later on someone else decided to put the scientists in there. Which is kind of a misplacement in my opinion. Obtaining the Diesel is already hard/expensive enough i see no point in adding the scientists, which removes any chance for low tier players to use diesel they bought at the outpost.
i mean these scientists dont have nades

sounds like it would only be useful if you have a clan and wall it off with some SAM turrets as well.
On lower pop servers it is absolutely broken tho

Excavator will be buffed on the 2nd of december of 2021 and increse the ore yeild by 2.5x and will have a higher spawn priority than before

i cleared giant excavator twice, both low on ammo. first time was with LR-300 when teammate wasnt on
second was with semi automatic pistol

Hi, for the first time 2023.07 my 5K map does not have the Giant Excavator. Have you somehow noticed that after the new monument to transfer between maps there is no space for the Excavator anymore? (A seed with 6K there is still space for everything). By the way thanks for your videos, you have a talent to teach I have not seen any other place, thank you man🙂

i remember first seeing this and thinking wow thats op for clans...
but actually using it in a clan is first of all not really that effective, 2-3 players can go and grind more ore in less time. (and arguably be the same amount of risk)
not to mention to actually get the fuel to run it is expensive or takes alot of oil trips. iv ran small and large oil around 100 times now collectively in my 2k hours
large nets you maybe 5 barrels at most and small you usually get 2
and second, honestly defending this monument while powered is dumb af because of the pager, you will ALWAYS get counters,
they will always be full geared. (it's also got cameras on it. to make things worse)
lastly the amount of grubs that will attempt to take the ore from the drops is staggering you literally have to have one person at each drop to defend the hoards of nakeds
since you have to make a massive amount of noise taking the scientist.
all in all the monument seemed overpowered to clans at first but ended up being a monument that no one really uses due to it being too expensive, risky and not really worth to run in terms of time - resources gathered

It really is. With a group of mates and some diesel fuel you can acquire so many resources in such a short period of time.
