This classic song was written by Kazi Nazrul Islam who is the national poet of Bangladesh. He stayed quite a few months in a landlord's house at Becharam Dewri Road in Old Dhaka. Inside the big arena of that house there was a beautiful flower garden. Nazrul observed beautiful black birds called “Bulbuli” always play around in the garden. So one day he wrote this amazing melodious song maybe in 1926. And the songs written by Nazrul Islam called Nazrul Geeti have a separate patent in Bangali songs.Firoza Begum is considered to be the best artist of this type of song. This song is about the eternal wait for the spring to arrive for Bulbul to come out of his sleep, (poet's son bulbul passed away when he was just 5 years old) and flower to blossom. Spring arrived, but bulbul never came back, as he was sleeping for the rest of his life. When Bulbul passed away poet wrote few poems and songs for Bulbul. Bulbul also represents a type of bird. Qazi Nazrul Islam is the national poet of Bangladesh.
On the lyrics-- On the surface it's a person chastising a Bulbuli (a songbird) for rocking the flower branches pre-maturely-- the Spring is not here yet and the flower buds are not ready to wake up. But it's also about love and longing. These are the words of a lover separated from his beloved and waiting for her return. The Bulbuli is prancing around like it's already Spring, but in his heart, the lover still feels the cold of winter, as he longs for his beloved, the incarnation of Spring for him. It's written by Kazi Nazrul Islam, a major poet in Bangla (anglicized Bengali) language about a century ago. The original rendition is as beautiful (here you can see it quite authentically in the male vocal)-- Arnob's (one of the best in Bangladeshi modern music scene) composition gives it a world-music twist.

There's a sad background story of this song. Kazi Nazrul's son's name was Bulbul. the kid was sick and the poet didn't have any money to buy medicine for him. He wrote this piece while in train on his way to a newspaper publishing house , so that he can get the money. Bulbul died in his infancy.
