  • This is how I fill chases and deeper holes in internal walls. The house was rewired and today I'm filling a couple of electrical chases ready for final filling and decorating.

Consider this method too, I'm sure it would make a good video (one day I might do a video on it myself). I was working on a house and had to quick fix holes and be out of the way as I promised I'd be done before return of tenants. I used car body filler from tool station to fill old screw holes in finished painted walls. It was ready to sand in less than an hour, then I touched up the paint, waited another 45 mins, and went over it again with paint. You can't see where the holes were, and I was done in less than 2 hours (the final hour was just to let 1st coat of paint dry). It's good for small holes, but your method is better for big holes and going over cased out cables.

Never thought about using body filler, sounds like a "landlord special', joking 😉🤣
Would be interesting to see how it fairs longer-term, does it crack over time, etc.
This Bonding Coat sets incredibly hard and fast (lost one bucket already), one batch went off in 20 mins 😯

That should have armour placed over the wires before the plaster.

Is that building regs or optional? I honestly don't know

Looks like it's optional if protected by 30mA RCD. I'll use them going forwards though, thanks 👍

No it shouldn't, clipped direct is a reference method.

Armour gona save someone drilling a hole into wire and get electrocuted

@@froywhernside In UK... No need for armor over cables as long as they go straight up down or to side.
