That first demand that they ‘leave her alone’ made me very suspicious of the whole thing. I didn’t know Harry was even dating anyone, never heard of her, never read anything about her. It just irritated me. Obviously it was a sign of things to come.

I was bewildered when I read that press release. Although I don't scour every paper for every bit of news, surely I would have known something about her, but I had no idea what he was talking about. If she was being hounded and if he was asking people to leave her alone, how come there were no photos of this hounding, and - as far as I could tell - no articles either. It was like he was living in another place and another time.

I think the press about her was classist more than racist. It was the classic story of "pretty woman" rags to riches which plays out so well in the tabloids. I think many were cheering her on and thinking it would be lovely to think anyone of such a different class, nationality, background, or race could marry into that historic institution and make a go of representing the country and Monarchy. All she proved is that, not just 'anyone' can. It was such a massive disappointment to see the Queen gifting her (and them as a couple) so much privilege, patronages, titles, tours, on behalf of the UK and Commonwealth from the get-go. With no requirement to prove herself in the role (which literally ALL other family members have had to). And then to see it all spat back in their faces in the most spiteful and nasty way.

Harry seems to me to interpret any criticism as racism - he doesn't employ any critical thinking skills whatsoever. I can't recall his exact words in the Netflix clip that I watched, but a pic was shown of MM wearing an off-the-shoulder dress - the one South Park dressed her character in. Then a pic of Catherine wearing an off-the-shoulder dress flashed up. MM was criticised, Catherine was not. Speaking about this apparently unfair criticism, Harry said something along the lines of "If you can't see it [racism/unconscious bias], then I can't help you". He'd missed the point spectacularly. MM was criticised because she wore this dress to a formal, daytime event and that's a dress etiquette fail. Catherine, by contrast, was wearing hers to a night time gala event which is fine. In any other world it seems petty to criticise MM's choice of attire, but I think the thing to bear in mind is that she was going against rules, protocols, dress codes and behavioural codes 90% of the time and it was beginning to grate. By that time it was obvious that she was doing so deliberately and it seemed that rather than support/represent the Queen and the UK, she held both in contempt.

I am so glad that you were able to compare and contrast both books because I would never read 'Spare'. The RF had every right to be concerned that Harry became maniacal when he was just dating her. I think Meghan was planning on pursuing Harry for awhile. She had become friends with Eugenie and decided to become a philanthropist because she wanted to impress Harry. I read that Eugenie was the one who set them up. Meghan knew exactly what she was doing.

Excellent as always! I saw an interview by Priyanka Chopra about writing her autobiography and how difficult it was. She said she had to speak to loads of family and friends to confirm events etc and it turned out she had misremembered lots of things. I thought of Harry & spare and wondered who he had ran his memories by to check they were correct!
Speaking of Priyanka. I saw an old clip from an interview of Jimmy Fallon asking her about getting invited to the Harry Meghan wedding and her words were “I was tricked into it- somebody signed me up for it” - which I thought was very interesting.

Meg is embarrassed that she was exposed as biracial. She's seemed to have lived her life, especially after high school then trying to be an actress as a white woman and only using the fact she is biracial as a card to play she thought could be beneficial career wise for her and not because she's proud of her race. She doesn't understand, and doesn't care, about the difference between racism and being called biracial or those tabloid implications of the possibility of the royal family having a biracial woman entering the family. Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bones both had very negative press coverage for years -absolute rubbish to say Meghan had it worst. I remember she did a cover of a magazine with the heading 'Wild About Harry' to draw attention to the fact she was dating him and no doubt to pressure him in to going public about dating her.

Jason Knauf attended college in New Zealand, but was born and raised in the USA. I think that his being an American the Palace thought he'd understand Meghan more and be able to rein her in a bit. And as an American Meghan might have felt that she had a comrade in the trenches with her.

Doria was missing for several years, so Thomas brought Meghan up. But even during the time they were co-parenting, Thomas Markle still paid for Meghan even when she was with Doria. Apartments, all private schools, drivers licence, cars, vacations, university (she probably scammed him on the university money because now NU can't find ger graduation papers, but she took the money from her father.), internships, all her living costs through university also! Thomas Sr was nominated to an Emmy 11 times and won 2 Emmys. He worked with 2 of the best TV series airing at that time. He knew everybody important in Hollywood. Meghan used him as long as she could. He retired and got diabetes and became too fat and ill. A friend lured him into a business deal, and he lost his retirement money (it wouldn't surprise me if Meghan had something to do with that as well). Samantha herself knew too much about all Meghan's men, Meghan's real age, Meghan's real occupation, and all the scams she had pulled off. Meghan tried to silence Samantha BEFORE Samantha started to talk. Meghan wrecked Samantha's private life and her career. Samantha has University degrees in mental health and psychology. Doria has never worked as a mental care/social care/hospice caretaker/nurse. She has no education and has never been registered working with these jobs in California. Doria's bankruptcy was fishy because she also got sentenced! Meghan has learnt a lot from Doria! Samantha was kind enough not to tell the whole truth! And you're questioning her reasons??? Samantha knew exactly what Meghan was up to, and it was a shame that the Royal House didn't listen to Samantha. Thomas Jr, had bankruptcy when he was young and worked as a DJ. The Markles (that aren't related to Doria) have always been a very hard-working family! And, the British press and the British people adored Meghan in the beginning. I think the press about her was classist more than racist. It was the classic story of "pretty woman" rags to riches which plays out so well in the tabloids. I think many were cheering her on and thinking it would be lovely to think anyone of such a different class, nationality, background, or race could marry into that historic institution and make a go of representing the country and Monarchy. All she proved is that, not just 'anyone' can. It was such a massive disappointment to see the Queen gifting her (and them as a couple) so much privilege, patronages, titles, tours, on behalf of the UK and Commonwealth from the get-go. With no requirement to prove herself in the role (which literally ALL other family members have had to). And then to see it all spat back in their faces in the most spiteful and nasty way.

Harry seems to me to interpret any criticism as racism - he doesn't employ any critical thinking skills whatsoever. I can't recall his exact words in the Netflix clip that I watched, but a pic was shown of MM wearing an off-the-shoulder dress - the one South Park dressed her character in. Then a pic of Catherine wearing an off-the-shoulder dress flashed up. MM was criticised, Catherine was not. Speaking about this apparently unfair criticism, Harry said something along the lines of "If you can't see it [racism/unconscious bias], then I can't help you". He'd missed the point spectacularly. MM was criticised because she wore this dress to a formal, daytime event and that's a dress etiquette fail. Catherine, by contrast, was wearing hers to a night time gala event which is fine.
In any other world it seems petty to criticise MM's choice of attire, but I think the thing to bear in mind is that she was going against rules, protocols, dress codes and behavioural codes 90% of the time and it was beginning to grate. By that time it was obvious that she was doing so deliberately and it seemed that rather than support/represent the Queen and the UK, she held both in contempt.

Meg is embarrassed that she was exposed as biracial. She's seemed to have lived her life, especially after high school then trying to be an actress as a white woman and only using the fact she is biracial as a card to play she thought could be beneficial career wise for her and not because she's proud of her race.
She doesn't understand, and doesn't care, about the difference between racism and being called biracial or those tabloid implications of the possibility of the royal family having a biracial woman entering the family. It has NOTHING to do with racism or prejudice or bigotry. If she really was proud of her race why did her statements never reflect that she was proud to be a successful biracial woman and she has nothing to be ashamed of and neither should others who are also biracial and racism should have nothing to do with criticism of her or anyone. I’m a complete Royalist, I love them (I actually loved Meghan at the start, it wasn’t until after Archie was born that my opinion of her changed because that is when her true colours came out, I don’t mean skin colour, meaning personality) and I have never, ever read one racist article about her, not one, I haven’t personally even seen the Compton article, although, I to be far, I don’t read trashy online newspapers.

Samantha was a successful Mental Health therapist with real University degrees, not fake as Meghan's, and Meghan sent people after her, and then Samantha started to talk.
During Meghan's time at Suits, she had refused to help her father financially, although he had brought her up and paid for everything until Meghan was 22 years old. Doria was missing for several years, so Thomas brought Meghan up. But even during the time they were co-parenting, Thomas Markle still paid for Meghan even when she was with Doria. Apartments, all private schools, drivers licence, cars, vacations, university (she probably scammed him on the university money because now NU can't find ger graduation papers, but she took the money from her father.), internships, all her living costs through university also!
Thomas Sr was nominated to an Emmy 11 times and won 2 Emmys. He worked with 2 of the best TV series airing at that time. He knew everybody important in Hollywood. Meghan used him as long as she could. He retired and got diabetes and became too fat and ill.
