  • I caused some damage to my TPS senor a few weeks back. Was getting a code 7, so had to put on a new one on and calibrate it. Might as well throw together a video and here ya go.

    I have a 1990 accord that I replaced a fuel pump on with filter now car fires and will drive ok cold but once warm it stalls in gear

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před 3 lety

      I would not suspect the stalling in gear is fuel related. Easy to open the maintanace port on the fuel rail when it stalls. If fuel shoots out its not the fuel pump or filter.
      Have you fallowed the proper procedure for setting your base idle?

      Also may want to remove you IACV and FICV. They could be clogged an need cleaning. Also check for vacuum leaks.

    My cb7 has had a surging idle from before that would come and go on warm up. A couple days ago I exited the freeway and at a stop the car now goes below 700 rpm at a stop and surges between 650-750 and seems likes it’s trying to catch itself. Car is fine on cold starts but the low idles happen after a bit. Do you think it is the iacv?

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před 4 lety +1

      Could be. Eric The Car Guy has a good video for that on here. He covers both IACV and the FICV.
      czcams.com/video/L788jKEVblY/video.html
      There are any number of vacuum leaks that could contribute to this as well.
      Do a google search , "cb7tuner idle". Lots of good reading there.
      Has the car had a good tune up? Like plugs, wires, air filter ect.
      Good luck! Hope your able to track it down.

      @abtransport13 Před 4 lety +2

      Dreamability Awesome, thank you. Yes, car had complete tune up done 2 years ago and was doing great and would idle surge here and there but after the freeway drive, began to idle low in drive, strange. I purchased a new iacv and hoses and will replace later this week, hopefully that will do the trick.

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před 7 měsíci

      Hello.
      You don't measure from the battery. You measure from the red wire going to the TPS sensor. Measuring from the battery is giving you the battery voltage not the TPS voltage.
      Hope that helps.

    A question what happens if I leave the calibration at .40 is that bad ??

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před rokem

      Yeah that would be bad and should be too difficult to get that other 0.05. mainly an issue because that's the car's understanding of where the throttle position is at so where you've got it set at it thinks it's somewhere else and it's not going to be delivering the right amount of fuel to the air ratio

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před rokem +1

      @@frnklin1915 Yes, that is probably it. Or you could have a vacuum leak on your intake. Also the o-ring on the idle speed adjustment screw has been an issue lately in several I've worked on. Might check that. Also set your base idle. But first get that TPS sensor set right 👍

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před 4 lety

      Yes, you need the voltage meter to calibrate it so the ECU knows the correct position of your throttle. You can get this exact one at harbor freight for like $5 bucks.

    • @dreamabilityCB7
      @dreamabilityCB7  Před 4 lety

      @@jessedachosenone3339 lol guess so.
      Sure, it'll "work" without calibration. However the computer is not seeing the actual correct position of your throttle plate. The results can range from poor fuel economy, idle surge, loss off rpms or top speed, the engine running rich or lean,(can damage internal short or long-term), and possible idling issues depending on what range it is out of sync just to name a few.
      But maybe it's in just the right spot and your good to go.
      Best of luck 👍
