My interest in Formula Sports darts was back on the very first set you reviewed. My brother in law bought a set from Amazon for a friend of his and he told me how nice the darts were especially for the money.
Since then another friend of mine tipped me off to the new FST180 Gen 3’s.
I really like razor grip so I jumped on it and ordered this exact set months ago. I really like the barrel, the grip pattern, and even the black coating. Normally I shy away from black coated darts but it goes well with this model.
The o-ring included on the aluminum shaft was very nice! Many years ago I purchased a set of Hammer Head darts for over $100 however the aluminum shafts didn’t have an o-ring. That really pissed me off at the time.

Thanks! Formula really puts some thought into their darts. Simple things like an o-ring shows that the details matter to them.
They are a nice looking set, a little grippy for my liking, my favorite formula set are still the gen 2's, great review as always. 👍

I’ve been casually throwing the first gen since you reviewed them. Absolutely love the blue silver look. Good alternative for the money.
I still have that set. I rarely keep anything so it just goes to show how much I like them. The grip in the middle of the barrel is perfect for me.

Worldwide; Another great detailed review. That grip looks grippy as hell. In your opinion, which dart is more grippy; the FST 180 Gen 3's or the Winmau Leonard Gates darts? I've been throwing the Leonard Gates darts alot lately; I agree with you that you have to have a light grip on them to be consistent. Thanks and keep the reviews rolling.
Thanks Mike. It's a bit strange when trying to determine grip levels. This dart is definitely more grippy if you run your fingers up and down the barrel. It's also a bit more grippy when actually playing with them. The Gates darts were extremely grippy but only if the barrel rotated in your fingertips. Very similar grip levels but in a different sort of way... if that makes any sense?
I own a set of Gen 2’s and they’re a nice reliable set. The stems and flights are trash. Not a fan of air bubbles in the shafts.

I've thrown everything at it and it's holding up incredibly well. It's almost too firm to be honest. I wouldn't recommend this board to anyone with a loopy throw.

I almost went with a blacked out Cosmo set up. I was going to go with Harrows carbon stems and the new L-Style Fantom but I gave away the black ones I had.
