What is very interesting is that usually people discover Stromae by Papaoutai, Tous Les Mêmes or Formidable but you guys do it differently and I really like your reactions and I can't wait to see you reacting to "Tous Les Mêmes", his best song in my opinion.

I'm half belgian and french...
The more you spend time, and therefore your money, in social media...the more you enrich facebook, twitter, instagram etc...and the less time you spend in the interest of your own life and therefore of your personal enrichment, be it social, financial or even emotional. That's the message this song conveys...:)

Stromae's lyrics are as genius as his visuals, the double entendres and layers he puts in is absurd. Often using combinations of words that sound like other words but often change the context.
Quand c'est (translation: When is it?) sounds like cancer: So you kinda have to translate it like "When will cancer stop" even though he doesn't fully say this in French, you just know what it means.
Tu étais formidable, j'étais fort minable: This is the line of the Formidable song. Formidable (wonderful) sound very close to fort minable (very pathetic), and if you don't speak french you might think he's singing formidable through the whole song.
There's a small song on Racine Carrée called Moules Frites. Moules Frites is pretty much the national Belgian dish, it's mussels with fries (we also tend to put mayonnaise on our fries). The entire song on the surface sounds like he's singing about food, but it's about sex and a guy getting an sexually transmitted disease. Paulo aime les moules frites, sans frites et sans mayo (Translation: Paulo loves mussels with fries, without the fries and without the mayonnaise) Mussle is slang for vagina, and mayo is slang for condom, so he's saying he's having unprotected sex. It's one of those songs that's extremely explicit to adults, but a child can sing it with a completely different meaning. It's truly genious from a lyrical point of view, and not as popular because you have to be Belgian to understand the context.
